Well I can't make up my mind.  I have a deposit at ARS Powersports for a 06 King Quad .   I'm thinking now about going with a sport bike.  I'm 6' 220 lbs and 45 yrs old and my bones are a hurtin but boy I had fun on my buddies Raptor this past weekend.   What to you guys think, I'm not gonna be jumping any jumps or do any racing but I would do some fast trail riding and just some cruising in the woods.   Riding at Croom or Ocala most of the time, do you think an 05 Raptor would be good for me?  I found a good deal (I think) for an 05 for $4500 with according to the owner 5 hrs of ride time by his wife.   What do ya think?  Thanks for the replies

Hmmmmm, tough call. I've owned both KQ and a Raptor (at the same time) and can tell you that the KQ is the most comfortable ride I've ever been on. It handles great and turns on a dime Not to mention it'll hit 70 on the stock tires.

Da_Mtg, Well the other thing about the raptor over the King is 95% of my riding will be in trails that are tight.  I don't know if you have ever been to Croom but alot of the trails are tight and wooped out pretty good.   Also most of the guys that I will ride with have raptors.

My friends that do have utes ride their bikes up in north FL which I may go to 2 or 3 times a yr.  Friends with raptor ride them at Croom and Ocala which are not that far from Tampa and we will ride there maybe 8-10 times a yr.  I guess it's good that I have choices.  Thanks

My Rappy had a durablue plus 4 rear axle so it was tight in croom also. The Rappy is a great trail quad but I can tell you that if you throw a clutch kit in the KQ you will a s fast or faster than the Rappy and still be able to carry a cooler and a passanger very comfortably. You're in a tough spot. I REALLY miss my Rappy.

Your KILLING me.   Smiley

lol.......Ok, I'll go further. I miss the Rappy for the wheelies and the jumping. Granted it was built to the hilt and would stand straight up at 70mph in 4th gear by simply hammering down the throttle. I miss that rush. I love the comfort, speed and storage on the KQ. Does that help?  Grin

My wife has a KQ and I ride it whenever she lets me. Grin I think it's a great trail quad. I've ridden it from dawn to dusk and felt great when the day was done and if you like to go fast it will do that too. You should probably just get both. Wink

Well I like the Raptor better cuz it's awsome for wheelies and Jumps.  Also it's the best trail quad.  If your wanting a comfortable ride get the KQ.

It's Better To Be The Predator Than the Prey

Ok I rode my Raptor for 4 years and loved every minute of it. If your not going mdding with the KQ you will better off with the Raptor. I believe the Raptor can go just about all the places the KQ goes, and alot faster. The KQ is  still a utility quad so its no going to handle as good as the Raptor does on the trails. Like someones else said thats what they are made for, fast trail riding, and if you want to jump they can do that as well. If you want to take it easy and load up the bike with a cooler and go through mud holes than get the KQ.
And if you want to go really fast and do lots of jumps get the YFZ 450 because they out handle the raptor in the air and the track. Cool
