Bay area cancellations and reschedulings
Sunday, October 23, 2005
Hernando County

Hernando County schools closed Monday.

Hillsborough County

University of South Florida classes (all campuses) cancelled Monday.

Hillsborough County schools closed Monday.
Hillsborough Community College closed Monday.

The University of Tampa has cancelled classes through Monday. All weekend activities, including homecoming events, are cancelled.

The University of South Florida homecoming game that was scheduled for Saturday at Raymond James Stadium against West Virginia has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3. The Alumni Association-sponsored Bulls Roast is also rescheduled for Dec. 3, three hours before game time. The Alumni Association is postponing several business meetings. Keiser College will be closed Monday for students. Faculty and staff should report as scheduled so long as it is safe to do so.
Montessori Prep of Temple Terrace, Montessori Academy of Tampa Bay and Montessori Academy of New Tampa closed Monday.

City of Tampa offices closed Monday, including Recreation and Parks facilities and programs.

Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court system closed Monday.
The cities of Plant City, Temple Terrace and Hillsborough County government offices closed Monday.

The sale of tickets for the performance of the Broadway musical WICKED at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center has been moved from Sunday to Oct. 30.
The Don Juceam Orchestra cancelled its Frankly Sinatra show scheduled for Sunday at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. All other shows will continue as scheduled
The Florida ProMusica choral program of Durafle & Palestrina scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, downtown Tampa, is postponed to a date TBD. Ticketholders may receive a refund or apply ticket to Dec. 11 Gregorian Chant program. For more information call 258-4226, or go to www.floridapromusica.com.
The American Red Cross has cancelled all health and safety courses scheduled Monday in Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.

Zoo Boo at Lowery Park Zoo has been cancelled for Sunday. It will reopen Oct. 27-31. Call (813) 935-8552 for information.

Manatee County/Sarasota County

Manatee County schools closed Monday.
Keiser College will be closed Monday for students. Faculty and staff should report as scheduled so long as it is safe to do so.
Manatee Community College offices will close and operations and all activities at MCC Bradenton, MCC Venice and the Center for Innovation and Technology at MCC Lakewood Ranch and all other locations will be cancelled from 5 p.m., Sunday through Monday.

Webster University/Sarasota-Manatee will be closed on Monday.

The Sarasota AIDS Theatre Project?s 5th Annual Night of Alternative Theatre, scheduled to take place Monday is being postponed until Dec. 5.
St. Joseph Catholic School in Bradenton closed Monday.
G.WIZ Science Museum is closed in accordance with the announcement of the closing of public buildings by the Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center.Visitors are encouraged to visit the G.WIZ website, www.gwiz.org, for further information and reopening dates.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal School closed Monday.
John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art closed Monday.
Easter Seals Southwest Florida location closed Monday.

Pasco County

Pasco-Hernando Community College closed Monday. The college will be closed Tuesday for previously scheduled staff training. Classes resume Wednesday.

The ninth annual New Port Richey Founder's Day scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled. The majority of activities and entertainment have been rescheduled during the Main Street Holidays from Dec. 9-11.
Courts closed Monday.

Pinellas County

Pinellas County schools closed Monday.

Classes and events at Stetson University College of Law (Tampa and Gulfport campuses) are cancelled from tonight at 9 p.m.-Tuesday at 7 a.m.

Stetson postponed its inaugural Intellectual Property Law Society Art Show and fundraiser Saturday and rescheduled to Nov. 5 in the Great Hall of Stetson's Gulfport campus.

Florida Wing Fest scheduled for this weekend in Pinellas Park has been rescheduled for Nov. 19-20.
Shorecrest open house originally scheduled for Sunday has been rescheduled to Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 8 at 9 a.m.
The Seminole Kiwanis Fall Festival has been rescheduled for Nov. 5 and 6 and will be held at the Seminole Vocational Education Center at 86th Avenue and 125th Street North
Pinellas County government offices closed Monday.
Grace Lutheran School closed Monday.
St. Petersburg College closed Monday.
Precious People Learning Center closed Monday.
Curlew Learning Center in Dunedin closed Monday.
Write Start Learning Center in Seminole closed Monday.
Courts closed Monday.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium closed.
Country Day School in Largo closed Monday.
Tarpon Springs City Hall and other city operations closed Monday. Only emergency essential city employees will work Monday.
All R-Club Child Care, Inc. programs and its administrative office closed Monday.

Polk County

Polk County public schools will be closed Monday for all students and staff. Classes are schedule to resume Tuesday.
Keiser College will be closed Monday for students. Faculty and staff should report as scheduled so long as it is safe to do so.
Classes at Sante Fe Catholic High School in Lakeland are cancelled for Monday.
St. Luke's Christian Academy and Pre-School will be closed Monday.

Southeastern University has canceled classes and university activities Monday and Tuesday.
Evangel Christian School and daycare will be closed Monday.
Webster University's Lakeland Campus will be closed through Monday. All classes in Lakeland and at off-site teaching locations in Brandon (at Hillsborough Community College) and in Avon Park (at South Florida Community College) are cancelled through Monday.
Polk Community College classes in Lakeland and Winter Haven cancelled for Monday.
Excel Christian Academy in Lakeland closed Monday.

Gessler Clinic in Winter Haven closed Monday. Patients may reach the physician on call by calling Winter Haven Hospital at (863) 293-1121.

Lakeland Surgical & Diagnostic Center ambulatory surgical center closed Monday.

I dont understand why you kids are so happy. All that is happening is you are losing a day from your Thanksgiving Break. So tell me.........would you want tomorrow where its sh*tty and rainy or a longer Thanksgiving break and have a 70% of it being some what nice? palm beach county does summer break, not thanksgiving break.  meh if my summer break is 2 days shorter i dont think i'll cry.  i wouldnt want to lose thanksgiving though.

To the point of the decision if there is 10,000++ kids in school when this thng ripps the roof off or is damaged in some other means I believe the safety first mentality needs to be used here. Sorry brother, let me rephrase, my fault. To the integrity of safety, in o4250's situation I do believe school should be closed. What I was saying though wasnt about the decision of whether to close down the schools or not. It was telling the kids the reality in their "day off". Pffft but hey ill take it, means i get to work some and make me more money. God Bless anyone  effected by the weather.

Eric, my school is also the shelter for the the people that had to evaquate cfrom naples park, if the storm surge is big enough they will have to stay there.
