Important Article about ATV Noise
«

I found this searching around on the web and thought it would be important to share.
Reprinted from NOHVCC News
The National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) is a large group of OHV activists from all over America. When the organization gathers together in one room for their annual conference, they get asked many questions regarding OHV recreation issues in their neck of the woods. When asked what the number one obstacle is to keeping riding trails open, the overwhelming response is “Sound”!
Objectionably loud off-highway motorcycles and ATVs are not only responsible for shutting down some of our favorite riding areas, but they are also an obstacle whenever there’s talk of opening up new trails to motorized recreation.
And it doesn’t have to be that way. ATVs and off-highway motorcycles can run great with quieter mufflers, and unless the OHV industry and the riding public don’t start changing their ways real fast, we will continue to see our ride areas and trails disappear.

my pipe is only loud if I'm on the gas hard,,,,and anyone who has riden with me knows that I don't get on the gas until I'm well out of the neighborhood.
This way, the neighbors don't have much to complain about.

I've heard the saying "Loud pipes save lives", but they also make you deaf which means you can't hear the bike coming anyways. I prefer quite to moderate sounding bikes. Loud bikes are better for the track or away from my house

everybody knocking the 4 strokes. i like the 2 strokes and the way they sound as well but they are just to slow a 4 stroke is where the power is id personally put a quieter muffler before i took a step down to a 2 stroke

I,ve got one those loud pipes on my bike and as time goes by it seems
to lose its appeal.9yrs ago it was the only 1 I would have put on it.But
now with areas growing up aound me a quieter unit is looking a lot
better.Last time I rode it around the family property,my mother said
she could hear me at least 11/2 miles away.Lets do the math with more
people moving out to rural areas noise will probably be our biggest foe.
Nothing against the Harley guys but there are probably a lot more that
hate that "sound " than like it.Its harder to close the roads than a trail.
Just my .02

You can get a ticket for playing music too loud (25 feet), but you can ride a Harley which is eqaul to a Jackhammer in sound. Who do these laws really protect? I guess Law makers like Harley's over Bass. I like Harley's, sure as hell fun to cruise to beach with, but everytime one goes by my house or truck I want to throw a rock at em, but I can't because I'd be hitting some of my friends
