I've got a Yamaha Warrior 350 that sat for a few months and it ran fine the last time we rode.  I went to go riding and the battery was weak so I put it on the battery tender over night.  When I went to start it, it did not start.  I've gotten it down to "no spark".  I changed spark plug and the coil out with one from another running quad and still no spark.  Is my next option the CDI unit?  Does anybody have any experience with this or know of a reputable non-Barney's shop or guy-in-his-garage?  Again, nothing of note happened while riding last.  Simply finished riding and shut it off.  Now there's nothing.

Thanks.

you need to ohm stator out. I have done countless stators in theses. only seen 1 or 2 CDI'S go bad in these. what year are you working on ? I have a good cdi for a 1998 up model.

What readings are read between which wires?  Here's what I got..
2002 Warrior 350
FOUR PRONG PLUG:
Pick-up Coil:
White with Green Stripe and White with Red Stripe wires.
Specs: 475-500 ohms
My Reading: OPEN (Way out of spec)

Stator:
White w/blue stripe and Red wires:
Specs: 0-1 Ohm
My Reading: .7 (Within Spec)

STATOR THREE PRONG PLUG
Specs: 0-1 Ohm
My Reading White 1 to White 2: .7 ohms (Within Spec)
My Reading White 1 to White 3: .7 ohms (Within Spec)
My Reading White 2 to White 3: .7 ohms (Within Spec)

So at this point I believe the problem to be the pick-up coil.  A call to Barney's found them to be $259.99 but rickystator.com has them for $150.00.  Can't say I'm surprised.  I'll order the new one and update this thread once it's installed.

PROBLEM SOLVED!  It was the pick-up coil as suspected.  I found a different vendor, RMSTATOR up in Canada (www.rmstator.com) as opposed to going with www.rickystator.com and I got the following kit...

 http://www.rmstator.com/en/atv/yamaha/yfm_350_warrior/stator/300_watts_stator_assembly_+_gasket_+_spark_plug_yfm_350_warrior_/2002-2004/5530.htm

...which included a replacement Stator and pick-up coil combo, a gasket and a new spark plug for $125.95. Rickystator was $150.00 just for the coil with no gasket or spark plug. (Again, Barney's Yamaha wanted TWICE as much just for the coil).

I installed it today when I got home from work, filled it with oil and it cranked RIGHT up.  In fact, by the way it started and ran today it's quite clear now that perhaps this pick-up coil has been going out for quite some time.  It started much quicker and idles much smoother than it has in a very long time.  I'm thrilled.  Grin

Thank YOU, lugnuts!  If it were not for you, I would not have gone inside the engine without replacing the CDI first.
