5A
« on: November 07, 2007, 03:45:49 PM »

I have been going out to 5A for years, but the past year the crowd out there has really died down. Went out there a few weekends ago and there was only a few other people.

Thats to bad. Was it a cop or a game warden? I have been driving in since they put up the no parking signs. Lots of room to park if you drive in from the Osteen side. Going to need four wheel drive though if you are pulling a trailer. Just went out there last night in my truck. Still lots of water in the lakes but the trails are drying up a little bit. Still would not recommend ridding a sport quad out there yet. I would give it two more weeks of no rain.

No you can park on the road. They put up no parking signs Embarrassed
You can drive in and park. Sometimes you need four wheel drive and other times you don't. There is a place to park about a quarter mile in from the osteen side. If their is not enough room there you can continue on a little further and their is a bigger place to park. I would say you could make in two wheel drive if you only had an ATV in the back of your truck, as long as it does not rain, but if you were pulling a trailer it could get risky.

I have not parked on the 5A side in a long time, do they still let you park there?

i havent rode there in about 9 months.   last time i was there i parked on the 5a side.   since then they have put up the sighs.   i met some new fellow riders and i would like to bring them there.   my truck isnt 4wd and i got factory stock tires.   so i dont know about going down any dirt trails.   my truck gets stuck really easy.  is it sugar sand?

No it is not that white surgar sand, it is a tan color that is normaly hard when dry but if it get wet it can get pretty slick. Ask around, I think you can still park on the 5A side, which is paved.
I am selling a 04 Polaris 700 Mossy Oak addition if you are interested or know anyone who might be. I am asking 4k for it. I have posted a on hear, i think it is on page four know if you want to look at.

theres a area you can pull in on the maytown side with a 2wd, you will probably see for sale signs around, maybe a little less than a mile from I-95 and on the 5A side just park on the south side of the paved road and no problems for me ever and have seen the law...maybe im lucky?

i would be kind of nervus leavin my truck on the trail unatended, i've heard some horror stories of people gettin stuck and leavin there trucks to go get help, only to come back and find bullet holes, broken windows, or the worse is burnt to the ground. the locals out there are a special kind of @ssholes.

i wish you could park on the road still, that was my favorite riding place, there is such a variety of wheelin from trails, hill climbing to mud, with out having to worry about a forest ranger give you a ticket.

we were up there yesterday there were quite a few people out there. We had one run in with some hunters that didnt want people to go past them but that was early in the morning. You can park on the 5A side just park on the other side of the road across from the no parking signs, we have seen cops there and they dont mess with you as long as you are over there on that side.

rode out at 5a on a tuesday night about a month and a week ago... stopped at the gas station and fueled up and asked for permission to park there and recieved permission... sweet... rode down the side of the road from the gas station to the entrance... 2 utilities with our lights on (was dark after all) and just riding slow... there were 2 cops in their cruisers... we cruised right by them without them saying a word to us and rode for awhile... came up on a couple people stuck in a wrangler... so we stopped and attempted to help... prob spent an hour there tryin to help them and waited till their friend showed up... they ended up being property owners and were filling up the feeders.... they said they dont mind people bein out there during non huntin season... but during huntin season they dont want anyone out there cause they might have dogs out or are trackin a deer... and if a atv goes zoomin by it can ruin a few hours of work... and that's why they get pissed... me and my friend actually recieved permission to be out there since we tried to help them out... guess some people had stopped earlier and after one try of attempting to pull them out... they left without sayin a word...

also went couple weeks ago... right after the pumpkin run... few people out there and didnt see any law enforcement

While I haven't been down there personally,My riding friends go down there at dusk  and park at the gas station I guess. They ask the store and he has no problem with it.Just buy stuff like gas and munchies.Ride down the sde of the road and have at it.

I'm pretty curious to go down there...they say it is a lot more fun than it looks.Especially if it dries up a bit.

There is no Six Flags (they don't have any money), it's going to be housing developments.  It won't be for a while with the housing market the way it is.

That whole area is private property, mostly broken up into 1 - 5 acre plots. Most of the land owners purchased land for hunting rights to the area. Hunting season is only a couple of months long. It is quite disrespectful to go out there during the few months of hunting season.  The rest of the year, the land owners don't care about people being out there.  Please use your heads and stay out of that entire area during hunting season. Keep in mind, you get some hunters out there drinking with guns and you piss them off, you're going to lose. I have seen so many stupid people out there it isn't funny! People riding up and down the paved roads! People vandalizing stuck vehicles! Dumping! Fights! Personally I don't go out there with carrying a sidearm! Lead by example and respect the property and people!

on my way home from georgia this past weekend i noticed a ton of people out riding.   i thought you wasn't aloud to park on the north side of the road.   not that it would have mattered with everyone  parked out there.   at a quick glance it looked like at least 50 vehicles.   i hope to make it up there in a couple weeks.
