What does ONFA actually Do
«

Just wanted to know what the purpose of you guys are . In the past 3 years I've seen less trails and more fees and permits. Are you guys planning on putting a Toll booths on 19 while in the National Forest? I've spent a lot of money in the past 6 years between the quads, dirt bikes, toyhauler and truck trying to provide for fun a memorable times with family, and friends. I've given Florida A lot of money in sales tax, for what smaller trails. Now adays everything sits more than being used. My apologies for not being able to attend the ORV meetings, but being deployed in the military makes it hard and I thought the ONFA would fight for us. I wish the people at ONFA would work to help us instead of working against us.

I posted this also in Open discussion under Rant, but felt it needs to be here too.
1Scorpion, You bring up some great points. By far the majority of ATV riders ride responsibly, but unfortunately just like anything else there is always the ones who don't, and that is what we all pay for. It has caused closures all over this state.
"We are our own worst enemy"
This comes to mind with alot of things, even on this site especially the Ocala thread. We have the Ocala Forest Assoc., they want to work with the forest service and try to improve things. Maybe we all don't see what they are doing are don't agree with who is on their board, but they are doing something. I know when I was working a while back with the committee in St. Lucie County to try and get an ATV Park, there were two members from the local Dept. of Environmental Protection on the Comm. This will occur I'm sure with any project or committee this is a sign of the times, that they are a part of any project. Does it mean I agree with it, "No". But it means we have to deal with it. Then there is Stewards of the land they also want to keep land open by working with people, and organizations. Then there is Lisa and Viper on there they say they want to work with keeping land open for folks to use. We don't have to agree with how the other is trying to work towards the common goal. But why in the world do we have to argue with each other when we all have a common goal. What kind of message is it sending when we can't even get along amongst ourselves. Don't waste energy by worrying about what another person is doing or not doing. If you have a better idea or program then do it.
We have many folks on here that are very active in their area of the state, Thrumud, lswjth2, Miamigirlrider, Muddygirlatthehump, Dreth, and others get in touch with them and see what can be done to help.
As far as Ocala this was a nation wide plan that was implemented by the U.S. Forest Service, not the State of Florida, or Ocala Forest Assoc. Just as many have seen the trash and improper riding, that is what has caused them to go to a designated trail system. No it doesn't seem fair to us that ride responsibly but we have to deal with it.
The other problem we have the vast majority of us work and making meetings is difficult. But we all need to get involved in some way.
It is easy to cast stones everywhere, but more success can be had by working together.

I hate that I have to remind folks time and again that we lost things by "working together" with the enemy. Compromise gets only one person happy, our enemy; it means he gets a little closer to what he wants, and you farther from what you want. Ask the NRA and Marion Hammer how much they "work with" the Brady Bunch, or the Million Mom floozies!
This thread wasn't started to get us all "working with" anyone, but to give ONFA a chance to show why they are good for ya'll.

Lets all just pray that the Huge Rally on "MAY 19TH" will stir up some change for the good.
I think Prairie Master just has a genuine concern as to whats going on.
For everyone who complains as I do for the lack of places to ride in Florida please postpone all funerals and weddings and make the MAy 19th Rally here in Polk County. It is easy to find and get to and we can and will make a differance w/ everyones cooperation....
