hey everyone, i just got a deed at river ranch and went there last week with a guy that new the area very well. without him i would have been lost in the first 5 minutes down the trail. so im looking at getting a GPS, just would like some info from some of you guys on here that use gps's on your bikes. is it easy to use, best one to get, any special features i should look for, etc? i use a gps in my boat and it shows that water and i can set a course and all but i dont see how one would work on a trail. does it just track my course so i can follow it back or can it also show a detailed view of where i am and possible the trail im on? any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

One hint about RR:
To get back to the main grade/camp area from the hunting area...
Find the bombing range fence...make sure it's on your left...then proceed forward. That will always get you back to camp. Don't turn off of the fence line until you see cabins/camps.
As for a GPS..you mark "way points" on it...(points of interest, such as your camp, your deer stand, Big Daddy's still, etc.) then you can see where you are at in relation to your way points via map view.
You can also use longitude and latitude. Some are downloadable with programs with landmarks on it. Mine has Lake Delancey West on it, which is a tiny lake up in the Ocala national. I was surprised it came with it on it.
Battery life is key!!! Make sure you spend the money to get one that has a high rating of battery life.
Also, get one of the one's that has rubberized casing...so that when it bounces around it won't break.

I can vouch for the meridian marine...the others I don't vouch for.
Here's a side by side comparison
