just that polaris sucks. as for the 700r i dont think yours will keep up power wise but if you can go faster through the terrain you will keep up. his 700 is heave and dont handle the same. you should get a 450 though. how much is the 400?

if the msrp for a 07 z400 is 5899or  you could pick up a used 05 or so 450r or yfz for 4 to 5 g's y get the 400? waste of money for a lot less power. i have had no problems with my used yfz. r seem to have less problems though. i strongly recommend getting a 450 though if possible.

its not THAT big a power loss Undecided I see 400s keeping up with bigger bikes for a while before the biggers ones pull away.

well, the z's are faster than the 400ex, but i got my 05 400ex at the end of 04 and im upgrading very soon to a 450r. It's plenty of power when you first get the bike, but after a while you'll wish you would of gotten the 450. Plus they have more upgrades and it cost less to get them to a power level for racing. as long as your not TOO serious that is.

exactly. it will be awesome for 2 for 3 months but then you will want the 450. trust me. i thought the 300ex was awesome for 4 rides but then i wanted a 400. if i had got the 400 in sure it would have been the same. i went straight to a 450.  Grin

well after you have it for a few mo. mod it pipe jet kit sprockets etc... try get a sprocket geared more towards low end torque you might lose a little top end but for trail riding do you really think youll be going over 65 mph

youre just greedy then, sure i want a 450, but my 400 is more then enough to keep up with one at the track, this discussion mainly comes down to rider if anything, a 450 will beat a 400 on the street, but wheres teh fun in riding the street? Wink

if you want speed and handling get a 450 ,if all you want is a good trail bike get a 400 .not to say that a 450 is not a good trail bike but reverse is nice.I like the raptor and the power is unbelivable but a 450 is faster and handles better ,it just doesn't have the bottom end punch of a rappy.

im looking to get a used z400, and a buddy of mine just got a kfx400. he likes it but says he needs more power and his last atv was a blaster. so im thinking im gunna be disappointed with the power so i want to know if the 440 kit will keep up with 450r's. also i have to have a faster atv than him thats why im selling my blaster. but i probably will since he weighs almost 100lbs more than me.

A stock z is pretty fast actually, and with a few bolt ons they RIP!
You shouldnt be disapointed, I own two of them and love them both.

any 450 is gonna be faster than a 400. stock to stock, or modded to modded. either way the 450 is better. in the for sale section there is a 2004 yfz for 3800. i would look at that. you wont be disappointed.
