For the link check FL4WDA Forums Ocala National Forest.

Due to new information from recent damage surveys, we may be restricting ATV and off-highway motorcycle use within the project area. Possibly, we will be able to a leave portion of the transmission-line along FS 573 available for ATV and motorcycles. These measures are to insure resource protection while we determine suitable locations and management for motorized uses.

When they say DAMAGE..do they mean all the logging they are doing?

I mean the way they just rip down an entire section of forest for timber, that doesn't stress out the environment does it?

Surely ATV use must be much more damaging than that, no?

How much BS can they spew?

You hit my point on the head.. Here is the link, first page of the ONF Website..

http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/florida/news%20releases/ocala_access/phaseII/Scrub_survey_data_phaseII.pdf

USFS wants to close the scrub area to get you to use the trail system, and then charge you to use the trail system.

Next week, after our board meeting, ONFA will be soliciting memberships.  We are going to ask for $25 for an individual and $ 50 for a family.  THIS is what the ONFA was founded for.  YES, they will be shutting down a lot of the trails in the Big Scrub area.  I am trying to post a report now by Wildlaw, an environmental law firm that shows exactly how much damage ATV's have done.  We need your support because the design phase for Phase II of the forest is happening now and we need to have imput.  We need to have members, the more the merrier.  It is numbers the are going to impress the Forest Service,  I have a very good relationship with them and we can get another good trail system in the Big Scrub area if we work together.

This type of topic is happening on "Create a Pro-OHV/ATV Organization". Funny how two great minds think a like - lol

Seriously though, I would love to do this, and perhaps you could start a thread with this information:  Please provide website address so anybody, like myself, can join.  Our strength is in numbers!!! - thanks for the info!!!
