I just bought a used Kasuma Meerkat for my son and am not to sure about the gears.  I was reading the owners manual and it don't give much info but it does say automatic and semi automatic.  Is there a way I can select one from the other?  The gearing just don't make any sense.  Some one please help.

Thanks

automatic would generally be a CVT type transmission were as a semiauto would allow you to shift gears without the full use of the clutch, along the lines of a Honda 250EX.

The Meerkat 50 is a semi automatic with 3 gears. It's intended to allow your child to get use to shifting without using a clutch.

It's a good little quad. Nice saftey features with the throttle control and the kill switch.

Good luck with it.

I guess my question is...... It says it has a automatic option.  Where is it?

Its probably a factory option. If its not on there you probably dont have it. Not for sure though.

I hope this clears it up for you....

Gear Restrictor.  A gear can be selected in either first, or second gear with the gear lever.  The gear lever is then removed leaving the Meerkat in low or high automatic, according to the child's maturity.  When the child is properly skilled, a gear lever can be left on the Meerkat, giving the Meerkat a four speed semi-automatic gearbox, teaching the child gear changing skills.

If you got him a 450r, you wouldn't have these problems.

How old is your child? Perhaps he wants to race for pink slips. Let me know.

Peace out
