Quail Hunting

Does anyone know of any good places to hunt farm raised quail?
I don't like to have to do a lotta work, but I'd like to go to one of those camps where they release the quail, and track it for ya.
I think you pay by the bird you kill.
I even heard of a place that rents dogs. (I'm not sure how much they charge you to shoot the dog though)
Anyone have any idea?

I went to Barksdale Bobwhite Plantation in Cochran ,Georgia about 6 years ago.
All penn raised with a mix of some wild as well .They have several trap houses at the lodge location where one can do some shootin at days end , transportation is via quail buggies.
Excellent lodge and services plus if you want the cook/chef will cook you birds for you if you want .
They also offer deer hunts as well.

Ummm.... weren't you just bashing hunters on the other thread? Something about white trash deer stands and hunters "pretending" hunting is a sport? I'm a hunter, and have guided hunters for many years. I'm not "fired up" because you're entitled to your opinion, but I'm a little confused because in this thread you want to go to a "Kick and Shoot" Quail operation to shoot pen raised quail? Spend your money on a visit to a quality Trapshooting facility, and I promise you'll enjoy it more, because quite frankly, it's more challenging. Oh, and a little secret about the bad a$$ bird dogs at those places: The quail are released in the same spots every time, so the dogs just go to those spots to flush, every time. I might sound a little jaded, but I have personally been to several of these places, I have helped build one in my area, and when I was just a jitterbug, I worked at one for a while. Through this I came to the realization that most of the people that frequent these operations, do so to get drunk and show off their overpriced shotguns.

You must have me mistaken for someone else. I've never bashed hunters anywhere .
As for the quail hunting place ,I went there on a deer hunt and met some of the quail hunters.
There were'nt any drunks when i was there .
You're entitled to your opinion.

I was being facetious...with regards to the other article.
I was making the point that if hunters are going to single out ATVers, ATVers could do the same. (i.e. unsitely tree stands, expent cartridges, etc)
Cheropride picked up on the point. That point being that hunters and ATVers should stick together, as they tend to be constantly under fire from the powers that be.
It would be nice to see if everyone could co exist and have the opprotunity and space to engage in their particular form of recreation.
(He just wants to know how much to shoot the dog!!)
Although, It is fun to fire people up.

I gotcha.
My opinion is: no, most groups can not agree to disagree to help their cause. The hunters are a great example. The Bow Hunters don't like the Gun Hunters, the Dog Hunters don't like the Still Hunters, the Turkey Hunters don't like the Duck Hunters, and so on, and so on. The same goes for ATV's with Sports and Utes, blah, blah, blah. We could learn something from the horse community, as they are all very different, but very united and organized. This has resulted in the State spending millions of dollars for trails and facilities for them. (think: Greenways). Bickering & in-fighting will gain nothing for anyone.

I quail hunt more than anyone I know, and I know a lot of hunters. I often guide many of my friends and clients on weekend quail hunts as a way of showing appreciation. We mainly hunt pen raised birds and you never have to kick them up. With the quail population still in peril in Florida, supplementing your hunt with pen raised birds is not only fun, but makes sense from a conservation stand point. Usually, we purchase anywhere from 1000 to 1500 birds per year and recently pre-ordered 750 for the coming fall.
There are numerous quail hunting plantations around Florida and in Georgia. My suggestion is to visit the Quail Unlimited web site and search for a reputable guide/plantation. I'm sure you'll have a good time. One of the nicest places I've been to is Great Southern Outdoors in in Union Springs Alabama. The horse back brace hunts over English Pointers is a ton of fun. Lots of Egyptian Wheat fields and tons of birds.
As far as drunks are concerned, if you've ever been to a place that allowed a drunk quail hunter to participate, you were with a bunch of idiots and not in the hand of a reputable outfitter/guide. Regarding over-priced shotguns, unless you've shot quail on the rise with a Parker, Purdy and Sons or AH Fox side by side .28 (or something in the same class) you can't understand. The quality, workmanship, feel and fit are amazing. Nothing comes close.
