Hi all,  just joined the forum here.  I am from the Tampa area and ride bikes up at Croom. My question is I want to get my wife a ATV so she can ride with my son and me.  I have been looking at a 96 300ex but the seller doesnt have the title. Did they issue titles on those in 96?  Obviously I dont want to end up with a stolen quad but isnt it also necessary to have the title to register it at Croom?

I got my Croom sticker about two months ago for my '96 RM250 with a bill of sale only, and there wasn't any problems.  Maybe it depends who's doing the stickers that day.  But I think the older bikes didn't even come with titles so they don't mind as much, I think with the newer bikes you should have it since it probably came with one from the dealer.

They didn't issue titles to bikes when purchased new until 2002.....

Here is the vin# check, just enter the vin# and it will tell you all the info...

Thanks for the info,  I thought the older atv's didnt come with titles but just wanted to be sure. My newer bikes have them so I wasnt sure if the bill of sale was sufficent to get the sticker. Thanks again.  Wink

Ok, I went ahead and bought the 96 300ex I was looking at.  When I enter the VIN into the above link it comes back as no records found?? If they didnt title bikes back then it wouldnt be registered into the system right?

If it wasnt ever reported stolen, then it wont be in the system. But, did you get a Bill of Sale? Because you can take that down to the county clerk and get it titled.

a month ago I called croom w/ some questions on rules. they said some sort of proof of ownership. titles, bill of sale(think they'll acept that) or something from the dealer(dont remember what its called). And people that finace atvs dont get the title until its paid off. So croom has to accept something else...
