Alright, im getting pissed. I was out on the trails the other day and i shut my bike off to take a little break and when i went to start it back up, there was nothing, no power anywhere and it wouldnt start (obviously). Checked to see if maybe one of my wires got burnt on the head and saw nothing there. Checked the fuse right by the battery and it was blown. Changed it, rode back to the trucks, shut it off, same thing happened. Happen's almost everytime i start it up and turn it off. I Havent taken a good look at my bike yet so i dont know what the problem could be. I'm gonna take off my plastics as soon as i get some time so i can really check everything out, but in the meantime, i figured i'd make this post to see if anyone else has had this problem or can lend some advice.

thanks all

battery cables were all tight, we were thinkin it may be a bare wire touching something

Or a bad switch, shorting out when you turn it off.

Does it only short out when the fan comes on?  Maybe the motor for the fan is burned up or the blades are stuck.  This happened with my old 750 street bike.

That was the problem. Tiny piece of insulation missing on both lights. Taped them up, rode for about 30 minutes hard turning it on and off and it hasn't blown another fuse yet so i think I'm in the clear!

thank you all for your helpful responses  Grin

Now take that tape off and get some liquid tape for it.

Will be permanent and water proof as well.

hey, have you checked all your wires to make sure u had no wires touching anywhere,  because your motor was hot, so it may have melted 2 wires together and they touch eachother and short it out, but i have the service manual, so if u wanna look in it to see how to test it u can
