Who is that someone from or in your town that you look up to? That you consider a hero or mentor?

My home town hero would have to be David Eckstein of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball club. Starting short stop who made it pro from nothing. His mother is disabled and was dirt floor poor growing up. He went to my highschool and comes out and still helps out when he can along with his brother Ricky Eckstein. This guy never had much growing up and lived in an old rickety shack. This guy is now a multi millionaire yet still drives an old Ford taurus. He doesnt flaunt his money and is as down to earth as your best friend. He brings out other pros to our field and practices there then after they get  done will help with our practices. He is definitely my hometown hero as he came from nothing and is now a multi millionaire yet doesnt flaunt his money like other celeberties. My school being Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida.

According to Ace Ventura pet detective.. Ray Finkle was born and rasied in collier county... Then went to play for the dolfins and lead them to the superbowl and missed the kick and lost the superbowl for them... Now wether or not that is true.. No idea.

My grandfather.

Grew up in a family of so many that I don't remember how many kids raised by his mother on a farm in Waldo doing farm work,,,,then worked his way up through the Navy as a SeeBee then came out to finish his college education as a Civil Engineer and eventually designed many of the major city's water systems here in FL,,,,,(Vero Beach, Titusville, Cocoa, etc) including a project I get to see at least once a week,,,,,Lake Eola Fountain.

The man retired with a ton of cash in the bank that he was living off of the interest with two homes(one in Salt Springs that many of you know) and multiple plots of land, but you'd never know because he lived below his means and didn't flaunt his money.  When he bought cars, he would go out and pay cash for a brand new vehicle, then run it into the ground,,,last car he bought before he died was an Oldsmobile Delta 88 which had over 400K miles on it when he pulled it into the back yard and parked it right next to the old Corvair he had parked 15 years earlier ;-)

Everyone who bust thier buts for min wages doing the jobs that make all of our lives easier with little or no recognition. Everyone who has served in the armed forces to protect our country "all gave some, some gave all" with little or no recognition. Not the pro ball players who make tons of cash for playing a game and are so ungreatful they cannot even be role models for our children. I am sure this is not what you were looking for but....you asked Wink
