I am thinking this first check is important to catch any issues early on.

It's a glorified oil change and safety inspection-usually runs $100 to $150-I have had my '05 kfx for over a year and done all the srvc's myself with no problems. Also the price they usually tell you on the service does not include the oil filter and oil-just fyi. Or you could save yourself some money, do it yourself and learn where things are on your machine.

Yes it is, you'r paying mostly labor charges there. I'd learn to do it yourself, the easy things, and then let the shop do the harder things. An oil change and cleaning the air filter are things you can do on your own. Visually inspecting everything, checking for loose bolts and nuts, setting the pressure in the tires, that is stuff you can do. It'll save you some money. Clymers makes manuals for the 750, you can get one for about $25.

do it yourself after warrenty runs out, trust me, dont touch anything, that might leave a mark, like for example when you take out your oil pan bolt it might mark it, just be carefull what you do, you dont want to void warranty, even though warranty work can be a pain in the a$$, it is still good to have it.

I wont pay the dealer either.Performing scheduled maintenance will not void warranty. I have 2 - 05 prairie 700's,its the modifications that will void it.Sometimes even if they are dealer installed.I do need to know if the valves need adjustment after 20 then it will go to dealer.
