I have been rebuilding one of our POL SP500s that had been sitting in my dad's barn in TX.  Replaced basically entire elec system, rpms are too high but runs ok.  Now at the silencer connection and at the manifold connection the exhaust is smoking.  Is this a bad exhaust pipe or is the silencer shot (clogged)HuhHuh??

If you can, inspect the silencer and check if the packing has blown in or collasped. I have heard this can happen. Also, there should be no significant restriction when you blow thru the silencer. If the silencer checks out then next you should verify whether whether you have an exhaust leak or if there is just some oil on the pipe connection that's burning off. If you feel hot gas blowing out then you have an exhaust leak. Inspect the pipe interfaces. There is often a seal at the manifold connection that can be replaced. A little leakage at the silencer is ok but if its bad the pipe is probably messed up.
