is there anywhere i can install the kill swich other than going to the stator perhaps the ignition or coil?

I've done 2 of them. It's been a while, but I tied them into the factory on/off button. It also matters if you have a normally open or a normally closed switch. Try www.z400central.com there is a lot of good Z400 info there. Good Luck.

i belive u can do i off you nutrule safty switch   thats what i have seen them do and thats whre i am doing mine

you can use a relay and wire it off of your key or stock kill switch. a relay reverses the way it worksa making a standard kll switch work. standards kill switches kill the bike by closing the circuit, the z400s stock key and kill switch function the opisite, open circuit kills it. using a relay will reverse the way it functions.

thanks for the info on the relay i had forgotten about relays it didnt cross my mind  ithink i may go that route and make sure i keep a spare
