i was wondering, if a 600 would keep up with any 1000cc bike. i was planning on getting a bike in a few years. but i need something that when i line up against any other bike. i know ill win. cause I'm just that kinda kid. but wasn't sure for example yfz and a 700r. 700r has more cc but the raptor doesn't outrun it by much. so would the 600 rev higher. or is there really no replacement for displacement.

A 700 raptor has one cylinder.. a 600 street bike has (most of the time) 4 cylinders...A whole different world.

If the guy on the 1000cc doesnt know when to shift or to ride, you might have a chance of running him to 130ish, but watch him climb to 170 before you hit 150.

600's top at like 130ish I think.  Depends on what bike your talking about.  As for mpg I am not sure, if your not a throttle hog then I would think it would be pretty good.  I would go with a GSXR600... most popular 600.

was looking at the specs. and to me the r6, and the zx6 were the best. but i was looking at the 1000s and i really like the r1. and I'm a pretty big guy and I'm starting to think about the 1000s. i don't want a busa. or zx14, because i plan on taking the bike threw some twisty roads.

best bike for twisty roads are the 600's. not that we have any twisty roads here in FL. but if your a big guy go with the 1k but if this is your first bike i dont think that would be such a good idea.

A 600 will usually get around 45-50 mpg on average if your not wide open all the time. I have a cousin in AZ with a 1000 and he pulls off 45mpg with it easy. But most 1000+ bikes get less than that. I think he rides like a sissy.

I've had my r6 over 160mph indicated.  i think that about 148ish +/-5mph actual.  When I was driving it daily I'd get around 30 mpg and that was 80% highway.  I like the kawi and the yami.  I think kawi makes the best street bike and yami the best for track.  I think Honda makes the most dependable, they tend to be heavily favored for stunters because they just are more tuff then anything else.  Suski usually seem to be the cheapest, and for some reason and I have no idea why, anyone I've meet that had one was jerk.

I would not put a beginner on any super or sport bike though.  Get a used kawi 250ex or 500, or the 500cc buell thingy.  They are great bikes to start on and get used to what your doing.  Upgrade around 3-6 months later.  If you do your homework and take your time, you can sell that bike for what you pay for it, which should be around 1500 for one in decent shape.

Can not beat the top end on those bikes , maybe a Kawa's 1400 , if you manage to avoid becoming an organ donor.

yea the busa is cool but notice he couldnt stay in his own lane. and when he goes buy the r1 the guy lets off and hits the brakes. plus why in the hell would i want to go that fast

Very true.  I have a 600RR, and I track ride & race ONLY!  Trust me....a 600 IS NOT slow.  Equal riders, YES a 1000 will leave the 600 after a few hundred yards.  600's do rev higher than 1000's, but the 1000's have gob's of torque.  Today's 600's average around 110 H.P., and the 1000's are around 170'ish.  Gas mileage for both aren't too bad, if you stay off the gas. 

For track riding....600 is as fast, and sometimes faster especially if a tight track.  I ride at JenningsGP in Jennings, FL.  2 mile, 14 turn road course for bikes ONLY!   Cool  Probably 75% of the riders there are on 600's.  Lighter, handle better.  For track riding...it ALL about handling...not power!

Street wise...you wouldn't catch me dead on the street....BORING! 

Any sportbike....you need to RESPECT them.  You can ride them like a 'lil 250, but you start getting brave with the gas/brakes...you best know what your doing, or you'll get f'ed up REAL quick!

This vid is at JenningsGP.  The guy filming is on a Yamaha R6, the guy in front on a Gixxer 1000.  They were out just playing...he was purposely filming the 1000, and could've easily passed the 1000 on several occasions.  They normally run 1:17's in races.  Both these guys are Expert club racers with a LOT of experience.  The riding they're doing in the vid....could not be duplicated on the street without serious consequences.  I realize you guys aren't familiar with this place, but the backstretch they are reaching 150+mph and at end when they turn into Turn 3 they are still doing around 125mph!  These bikes do have aftermarket goodies too.  I ride mine completely stock with the exception of DOT race tires.  I run Expert too, but slow 1:25's  Wink  Street riders that come give it a try....run in Novice with 1:45 lap times on average.

Sorry I got the track thing.  I just luuuuuuv it!!  Enjoy!

i agree, its all about handling. i have road a gsxr 600. and i liked it. but i couldn't go fast around any turns because it had a extended swing arm.

well i went to rick case today. and sat on every sport bike there. the 600RR fit real nice but the foot pegs were kinda high. and i didn't like the 1000RR, because you have to lean out to far to grab the bars. tommorrow ill take a trip over to the Yami dealship and see if any sport bike there fits good.

the interceptor isnt exactly a sportbike. its a v-four sport-touring bike kinda. not anywhere near a sportbike. 

what kind of money does it take to do the track thing? id love to buy a F3 or F4 for the track. a RR is a lil too much $ for me to throw into a toy but id really like to ride a track. i sold my bike cause it was stupid to have that power and not be able to use it.

Unfortunately...it aint cheap.  A track weekend is Sat, Sun & Mon, twice a month.  It cost $130 a day on Sat & Sun, and $106 on Monday's.  Set a new DOT race tires are, average, $350 - $375.  The "average" track day rider can run 2-3 days on a set.  The experts on the vid I posted....they'll run about a 1/2 day and put new ones on.  Then there's the cost of the trip getting to the track...gas for atruck, bike, food, maybe hotel etc.  Most folks camp at the track itself.

On average to do 1 trackday and go home...you can easily spend $500.....some folks spend $1000.  These are estimates. 

You can buy dedicated track bikes fairly inexpensive compared to buying a brand new bike.  Not smart to buy a brand new, or like new bike and ride it at the track.   Grin
