well i got the new part for the starter.. put it in starter works now... but it wont crank the engine to start it up.. it just spins the little gear inside... can anyone help me out??

There is a gear inside of the casing. You have to take off the side cover to see it. This is the gear that comes forward and engages the flywheel. You should check it whenever you replace a starter sometimes it freeezes up.

He is exactly right, there is a secondary starter drive in the right hand case cover, that freezes up, if a new gasket or proper sealent is not used on the cover.
