“Two Roads to the Taupo 1000” to Chronicle Best Kept Secret in Off-Road Racing
Last year “Two Roads to Baja” debuted on SPEED Channel showcasing the trials and tribulations of a pro off-road racer and an everyday Joe as they prepared and raced the brutal Baja 1000. This year the battle royal between the heavily-sponsored MillenWorks Racing and the amateur band of misfits, Team Necessary, continues…this time in a new location. Once again the action is captured on tape in the all-new “Two Roads to Taupo 1000” premiering on SPEED Channel Friday, January 25, 2008.
This year the two teams are at it again as they travel with their FJ Cruisers some 6,500 miles to the rugged Kaingaroa Forest of New Zealand to take on the longest, roughest and toughest off-road race in the southern hemisphere – The Taupo 1000.
Instead of the rocky, dry, cactus-cluttered terrain of Baja, the teams will be racing 1000 kilometers over the course of two days through the muddy pine forests of New Zealand. Can Rod Millen’s son, Ryan Millen, lead a race team, deliver a win for Toyota and make his father proud? Can he top his father’s performance in last year’s Baja 1000 with a 1st place finish? Will Team Necessary be able to resurrect their bruised and beaten FJ Cruiser in the hopes of finally reaching the finish line? Tune in to find out.
“Two Roads to the Taupo 1000” premieres at 9:00 p.m. EST / 6:00 pm PST Fri, January 25, 2008 on SPEED. Get a sneak peek at
