I want to get my son a new portable gaming toy.  Half of his friends have PSP's and the other half have Nintendo DS's.

Does anyone have any input on which one I should get him. He's 9yrs old.  Which one has the best games for his age?  Can you watch movies on each for long car rides?  How about durability?

THANKS,
Clay

i dont have either but i know them PSPs are pretty sweet! I played ATV Offroad furry the other day on one. It plays DVDs made for it too. Holds music. It can go online with the wireless adapter. Pretty cool. Im considering one now. I have no clue what a DS even is. Ive heard of them but dont know anything about them and have never seen one.

PSP without doubt.  Should buy mine Wink

You can play music, put pictures on it, go on the internet, of course play games.  It uses a DUO memory card which most digital cameras use.

Games:
Nintendo has more kids games (ie: mario brothers, zelda)
PSP has more games for older kids (so it might grow with him better

Storage
Nintendo correct me if I am wrong has none
PSP you can put music, pics, and video

Future
Nintendo seems to make a lot of variations of hand helds
Sony seems to sick with one (which I like)

Online
Both if you have a wireless router your online (PSP can download demos, ect.)

Movies
      Nintendo does not have
      PSP has a limited selection

Acc.
They both have a lot, PSP may have slightly more

Touch screen
       Nintendo yes
        PSP no

Micraphone
       Nintendo yes
       PSP no

Multiplayer
Both can play PSP/PSP or DS/DS

As for me I like the PSP better thats just me.  If you want better "G" rated games I would go with DS.  If you are looking for something he MIGHT not grow out of I would go with the PSP.
