It is not to bad during the weekend just stay away from the front pit.. There are some winners that ride up there,,,
Park back by the second day use area with the bathrooms and ride north up to the shrine and there are a few sand tracks up there and not many people go up that way... When your on a trail that is whooped out just hang and left or right off of it and take some of those old trails that arnt whooped..
i have a gps and find some nice trails that are off of the main trails..

But on the north side of the road back by the second bath house should be not that crowded,,,

i would be up there and show you around  but im going to georgia this weekend
durhamtown Grin  Red clay trails, i love um....

maybe next time ill show you how to ride the croom without all the whoops Grin

I'm also going this weekend. The main pit hasn't been busy that much since its underwater...  Grin But still, that middle area around the bathrooms isn't so bad. I find the next plce to park right after the first is the less crowded, and you can drop in right there by heading south, but if you guys are worried, don't go south west, cause thats the mines and there is ALOT of accidents in that area...
