Comments Requested on Florida's Big Cypress National Reserve OHV Management Plan
The National Park Service has decided to expand the scope of Big Cypress National Reserve's General Manangement Plan to include an OHV management plan for its pending addition. Appropriate use of OHVs will be analyzed for use in the Reserve and new addition. It is important that the NPS hear form all interested and informed members of the public and as such, three public meetings have been planned to gather input. Please drop by one of the three following meetings to talk with NPS staff.
Tuesday, May 23rd--4 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Everglades City School, 415 School Drive, Everglades City, FL
Wednesday, May 24th--4 p.m. to 7:00 pm.
Edison College, 7007 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples, FL
Thursday, May 25th--4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
University of Florida, 3205 College Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Also during the meetings, the NPS will hold separate group workshops to hear ideas on how to address the management challenges associated with providing OHV opportunities in the addition. If you would like to participate in one of the group workshops, please RSVP by Monday, May 22nd by calling Mary Stefanos at (239) 695-1103.
If you cannot attend the meetings listed above, but would like to provide input on OHV management in the addition, please log on to
