Got another Sportsman 500 from my dad's place.  Hasn't been run for almost 3 yrs.  It cranked within 3 minutes of trying to start it.  But...

There is white smoke coming from what appears to be the exhaust manifold area.  I also found some coolant on the ground under the front end of the engine.  Doesn't this mean that the head gasket has failed and coolant is leaking into the cylinder??

Any help or advice would be appreciated.  I have rebuilt Polaris motors before so rebuilding the top end would be an easy weekend project.

take the rad. cap off. rev it up and if the water blows up in the air you have a bad head gasket. check also if the water is coming out of the little hole in the water pump
