1  General / ATV Activist / SEMA Action Network (SAN) is expanding its commitment to off-highway vehicles on: August 26, 2015, 08:44:04 PM
Given the mounting threats to off-roading, the SEMA Action Network (SAN) is expanding its commitment to off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation. Unreasonable government actions limiting motorized recreation have long been a problem. Unfortunately, restrictive land-use designations still threaten thousands of miles of roads and trails across the nation.

Wilderness areas, where no motorized access is allowed, currently encompasses more than 109 million acres, representing 16% of the United States. National Monument designations, which prohibit new roads and trails and require new land management plans, also pose a significant threat to motorized recreation.

To date, President Obama has established or expanded 19 national monuments covering more than 260 million acres of land and water. In California alone, motorized access to the backcountry deserts has shrunk from 50% open use on public lands in 1976 to 12.5% in 2007. Phrased differently, only 2% of the California desert is currently open to OHVs.

Politicians and regulators are being lobbied from many different directions on how to manage millions of acres of federal public lands. The SAN is at the table as an advocate for motorized recreation.

To enhance this effort, our website includes a dedicated section for off-road issues and news, which can be found at www.semaSAN.com/OffRoad. The SAN will begin sending out a new monthly newsletter via email, The Navigator, which is focused on keeping you informed on key legislative and regulatory issues impacting the OHV community.

The SAN is committed to keeping roads and trails open. Staying united, informed and engaged is crucial. You can help. Please feel free to forward The Navigator and enlist others to join the SAN—it’s easy and free.

Over this past weekend an attempt was made to hack into our system.  After failing to acquire the intended information the hacker(s) resorted to creating a ~phishing~ e-mail which you may or may not have received.  The e-mails are not coming from RIVA Motorsports, but rather one or more fraudulent individuals posing as RIVA Motorsports. There is only one thing to do if you receive one of these e-mails, and that is to ignore it. No reputable organization would ever send an outbound e-mail that requests you provide personal information through a reply e-mail.

We go to great lengths to protect your personal information which is why the attempt was unsuccessful.  Immediately upon the first attempt our system automatically went to work, shutting down the unauthorized access and alerting us of the situation. Unfortunately, we are unable to prevent the hacker(s) from sending out the fradulent e-mail requesting your personal information. If you received one of these fraudulent e-mails you can forward it to HLSM at the following fraud reporting e-mail address: fraud@hlsm.com.  If you were fooled by the original e-mail and responded with personal information, you should immediately contact your credit card company and report the loss of your information to protect your account and learn about additional steps to safeguard your identity.

My duramax gets 16mph and has a better warranty ford.  Shocked

The Ford warranty on the Diesels is 5 years and 100k powertrain. On a positive note Ford is not owned by The Government.
6  General / Open Discussion / Re: Ford F-150 Brake Job on: April 24, 2010, 09:51:03 PM
I just got back from the local Firestone where I had my brakes done on a 2006 F-150 super cab.  When the mechanic got the wheels off he noticed the spindle nuts on the front wheels were labled "DO NOT RE-USE".  It turned out they're a dealer part and cost $35 each.  It really pisses me off that Ford uses a non re-useable spindle nut and charges an outrageous price to replace it.  They must be using a government pricing method for their parts.  Are there any Ford mechanics on this site who can explain to me why Ford is using this type of spindle nut and why does it cost so much?  It looks like a typical nut to me.  Dunno

The engineers designed the rotors to be machined on the vehicle to obtain the most true cut when machining. It is the lack of knowledge when going outside of the dealerships that cause you to spend more money then necessary. I know we all try to save money when you can but there are something that better left to the people who are experienced in their field. The brake job we offer is cost 172.00. You also get lifetime brake pads.

We live near Callahan and frequent the Motoplex for good all around family riding.   There is something there for every riding style. My boys enjoy the AMP Motocrss track and the PeeWee tracks..BEWARE OF HILLARD THEY DO NOT LIKE QUADS THERE I will not suggest Hillard for a place to ride , they are strictly a DirtBike venue
12  General / Open Discussion / Re: L-Cross or Bamboo on: February 24, 2009, 11:22:25 PM
I have been to l-cross , bamboo and the motoplex. I would drive from keywest right past both l-cross and bamboo straight to the motoplex. I never had a quad covered in so much cow dung as I did at l-cross and the guy at bamboo is just uhhhhhhh. The motoplex is purpose built Atv, utv, dirt bike Park not a part time park full time ranch. The motoplex offers so much more and at the next event it shows as if you can win some great stuff and you dont even have to pay to enter the competitions .
Just my opinion but the motoplex is worth the drive and now while gas is still cheap it is the perfect opportunity to try it out.

Never been to either one of them but heres a place you just might want to try out.  Wink
