Matt, the Kawasaki leathers have me wondering. Did you ride Kawasaki's at some point? In '70-'71, my brother had five G31-M Greenstreak 100's. He made District 35 #23 blue plate expert in the light weight expert class in '71, Central California region. He still has a fairly nice '71 model G31M, along with a modified '70 model with a lowered frame ,Champion rear frame loop and glass. Even had a G31M road racer at one time. I think George Babor has it now.

Matt, the last I knew of Rick, he was in Arizona and heavily into Ultralight aircraft flying. He basically took everything he had in one car load. I tried to buy your old bike off of him when I saw his interest fading in it, but we could not come to terms. I do recall the frame had some damage to it on the lower left downtube area, which Rick had repaired by the late Connie Swingle. Connie was partners with Don Garlits for many years and was instrumental in the chassis construction of Garlit's first rear engined Top Fuel dragster. The repairs he made to the Champion were flawless. He was an excellent Tig welder ,on par with any of Champions/Doug Schwerma's welders.
I would have loved to have gotten ahold of your old bike, especially the Viper ported cylinder that was on it. But when I could not come to terms with Rick, I ended up building my own Champion '79 YZ250. It ended up in New York, and my Champion 360 just left for Maryland a couple of weeks ago.
Be safe and have fun.

Matt, I know the bike you are talking about. I can assure you that Parker did not end up with it. You sold the bike to a guy by the name of Rick Goodwin in Tampa. He raced it maybe once or twice at Orlando, and promptly sold the bike. No telling where it is now. I do remember your YZ125. It ended up at Lovengreens Cycle salvage, pitched out in the boneyard.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I am curious. How is it possible for riders to run in the intermediate class, then drop down and run the amateur class on the same night? You are either an amateur or an intermediate. At local MX races, if you ride the B class, there is no way in hell you are going to be allowed to also ride the C class on the same night.
In past results, I have also seen Intermediate riders ride the Expert class on the same night. How is this possible ? Should be some kind of rules to prevent this.
Win 5 Amatuer races= You are now an Intermediate. No back stepping. Win 5 Intermediate races= You are now an Expert, No back stepping.
It's a slap in the face to the less skilled riders to have guys from the advanced classes drop down to the lower tier classes.

I still live about three miles from where the old Golden Eagles track was located. Since '73, it was red clay , no grass. I think the only time it ever had any grass may have been the first race, before the clay was brought in. Also had ST there as well. I probably had about a zillion laps in at that place before they closed in 1980. And a few more after it was closed.

Has anyone looked at the AHRMA website lately? According to their schedule, the two nationals have been moved to a different venue, in Loxley, Alabama on November 1st. TT during the day, Flat track in the evening. This may have an effect on rider turn out for Mclendons events, especially in the vintage classes. Maybe a call to Rob to be sure everything is a "go" would be in order.
