1  General / Open Discussion / Mudmuckers in Bunnel on: April 25, 2010, 10:19:03 PM
For any of you that haven't been there yet you really need to check it out. It is 11000 acres of riding, with deep mud, river riding and miles and miles of trails for the sport quads. It reminds me alot of ocala before all the rules. Check out their website at www.mudmuckers.com it is a great place with great people
2  General / Where to Ride? / Have they put in a legal trail to the 88 store yet on: February 07, 2010, 11:29:27 PM

4  General / Where to Ride? / Re: HOTELS NEAR BIG SCRUB on: November 13, 2007, 03:18:06 AM
Try the Fox Den Inn in Umatilla that is about the closest one. Its about 15 minutes away from scrub.
5  General / Where to Ride? / Re: big scrub address on: November 06, 2007, 04:33:27 PM
Big Scrub is at the intersection of fr573 and fr588. The nearest main road intersection is at cr42 and sr19 in Altoona. From that intersection it is 6 miles north on sr19 and 7 miles west on fr573.
6  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Big Scrub on: June 16, 2007, 10:50:25 PM
Come up 17-92 till you reach hwy44 in deland turn left follow hwy 44 out of deland, cross the st john river and take your first right, which will be cr 42 follow this untill you reach sr 19 in altoona turn right go approx 7 miles on sr 19 untill you see the little wooden sign on the right that says big scrub, turn left there you will be driving along side of the power lines you will see a few approved parking areas.
7  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Requirements for ONF riding on: June 01, 2007, 01:26:26 AM
Thanks Grizz, do I go to my local (Pinellas County) DMV for the green sticker?  I only have title for 2 of our ATVs.  Have Bill of Sales for all.  That enough?

Yes go to your local dmv with the titles and bills of sale. The ones with bills of sale you will apply for a title and will receive them in the mail in about two weeks. However you will be given a registration and green stickers the day you apply. Be prepared to pay taxes on everything.
8  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New name for trail system on: February 18, 2007, 08:26:51 PM
Well guys I have actually seen the trail groomer it came in a couple of days ago. The forest service is traing people to use it and should start grooming in a couple of days. They will be grooming the Winding wiregrass trail first in the south end of the forest then they will move to the north end.
9  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Big Scrub campsites -online on: February 01, 2007, 12:45:27 AM
I have never been to Big Scrub, what are the campsites like? I like to tent camp so I am wondering do the sites have any trees for shade, fire pits for a camp fire. Let me know what they are like.
No trees at all, they have fire pits. And the new bathrooms/showers are open.
10  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Wandering Wiregrass on: February 01, 2007, 12:42:55 AM
South end of the ONF. Trail head is 2 miles west of hwy19 on hwy 445
11  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Wandering Wiregrass on: January 30, 2007, 10:00:12 PM
The trail is mostly sandy through the woods type riding. One section has some very deep and large holes that are usually full of water, however you can get around them if you wish.
12  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Out of State Rider on: January 27, 2007, 04:02:15 AM
You need to bring proof of ownership as in a title or registration or notarized bill of sale. You must carry it with you at all times. Also carry a picture ID.
13  General / Where to Ride? / Re: What all do you need? on: January 18, 2007, 04:12:46 PM
You now need the green title sticker to ride anywhere in the open areas of the forest. For right now the area around big scrub is still open meaning you can still ride up and down the powerlines. However it is illegal to ride in any pits or sinkholes or mudpuddles/wetlands. And trust me when I say you wont be able to talk your way out of a very expensive ticket.
14  General / Where to Ride? / ONF Trail System on: January 13, 2007, 11:40:21 AM
I wanted to give everyone some information on the trail system in ONF. How many of you know that the trail markers were installed by trail ranger volunteers? Can you guess how many trail markers have allready been destroyed by inconsiderate riders / hunters who don't agree with there purpose. The marked trail system requires a tremendous amount of maintenance, this is done by the volunteers. When the system was first installed there were markers at every intersection and fork. The trail rangers have replaced numerous markers allready. But there are only a few volunteers and this is time we donate to the forest. So if you really want the trail system to work for you and your family perhaps you should join the trail rangers and help out instead of sitting in front of your computer and complaining, (saying what have you done for me lately) maybe then you would have a greater understanding of what were trying to accomplish for everybody.

16  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Wandering Wiregrass Trail on: December 31, 2006, 11:04:52 PM
I live right by this trail and ride it alot. You wont see to many people riding it. Its a good trail as long as you dont mind taking it easy as some of the trail is whooped up. When you hit the big waterholes on the one short stretch you can easily go around them and I would suggest this as some are deep. My 17 year old almost got stuck on his warrior.
17  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Byway meeting/ONFA on: December 29, 2006, 10:35:27 PM
I have to take time to say a little bit about this subject. First let me start off by saying that I was one of the first OHV volunteers in the ONF, right by my side through all the training was Grizzlybear. I have known this man for some time know. Grizzlybear has given more of his personal time to this sport than any of you can imagine. His goal is to keep as many trails open as possible. As for the grant money, mainly it is to be used to educate riders. The grant does not come from the forest service but from the T.Mark Schmidt fund. Lisa until you meet this man and talk to him face to face and get all your facts in line, stop making personal attacks on him. The attacks make you look stupid and bring down the sport as a whole.
18  General / Open Discussion / Re: camcorder.......which one? on: December 14, 2006, 11:19:13 AM
You might want to check out the Samsung SC-X210L. Its a very small camcorder that records on either the 1 gb of internal memory or a 2gb sd card. It records dvd quality movies. It comes with a waterproof helmet cam. We have been using 1 now for about 6 months and have had great results. The package comes with its own software for editing and burning the movies to a dvd. However right now they do not work on apple computer operating systems. You must have a windows based system.

I was commenting about unlicensed offroad vehicles.
20  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Numbered roads on: October 02, 2006, 10:00:18 AM
I was talking about this with Rick Lint who is now the head supervisor for the ONF and he said that all the roads in the ONF are federal land. And that about two years ago ONF banned all night riding and all riding on any numberd roads in the forest. The ban will remain in effect.
21  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Never been to ONF on: September 29, 2006, 02:13:27 AM
Zoomer a group of us will be riding the south end of the forest on sunday. Your group is more than welcome to join us. I live in the forest so I know the trails and can show you some neat places to ride. I will pm you my phone number.
22  General / Where to Ride? / Re: sept.30th.fast ride question on: September 28, 2006, 08:05:21 PM
There will be two sport rides one after the other. We will leave and return to the OHV center for both the rides. The sport rides will not be passing by Lake Delancey. The trails are way to whooped up over there. I'm guessing the sport rides should last about two hours each with a break in between at the OHV center. Your son could definately hang out there and catch the second ride.
23  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Need Help for Trail Ride- Someone to video on: September 27, 2006, 03:42:40 PM
Terry:

I will be wearing the new helmet cam for this ride. We can send the digital files
down to Asphalt Dragon. Maybe he will be able to make it look like a quality production.

25  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Sept 30th ride count of who is coming on: September 15, 2006, 11:00:29 PM
I'm in....I'll be on my 350x 3Wheeler and my buddy will be on my Grizzly. Any suggestions on which ride I should go on?? I'd like to go on the ute ride but not if it's too muddy....the X won't make it........Is the ute ride more of just a trail ride....Help me out here Grizz.....

Also....Need directions from Orlando peeze... Smiley

The chances of you seeing any mud on this ride will be slim or none. The forest is really dry this year.    Coming from Orlando, you should get on Orange Blossum Trail and take it North untill you reach HWY 19 which is in Eustis. Take hwy 19 north untill you reach Salt Springs turn left there on hwy 316. follow 316 untill you reach FR88 turn right go approx 3 miles until you reach the OHV center.
