General / Open Discussion / Re: Hummer brand goes to China
|

I have to agree(sort of), the Hummer we know of is NOT the Hummer we started with. The old "go anywhere" somehow got turned in to a sort of Tahoe, they boasted claims of climbing steep grades and certain off road conditions but in the end it was a far cry from the original Hummer or Humvee. Most of the new Hummer owners would not run their $80K Hummer off road making the car line just fluff. Obviously people are entitled to drive what they like and I also agree with that but considering part of GM's issues is a few car lines that are just not selling either because of price or fuel economy. Why does GM need a Chevy pick up and a GMC pick up? My GMC is identical to the Chevy with the exception of some trim. GMC and Hummer brands are not really moving right now which makes 2 full car lines failing. Personally I think GM Should make all trucks and SUVs either all Chevy or all GMC and drop the other line if they're all the same which we know they are. This would possibly cut the failing end off of one of GM's car lines but still keep the consumers in a GM truck.
As a loyal GM customer I hate seeing this happen but I have to say they always seem to be way behind the competition on fresh ideas. Ford retro'd the Mustang and hit a home run several years ago, Chrysler did the Challenger last year and I love it! GM finally gets the Camaro retro'd and as usual they're in the back of the pack. Maybe a restructure is what GM needs to put it back on top. Unfortunately my stocks will disappear in the process.

None of those are even close, it looks a lot like a 9006 or a 9005 but it's a double filament and it's smaller

I have a 2006 Yamaha Bruin 350 4x4
It appears that Yamaha changed the headlight bulbs in the 2006 because the older versions were sort of like and old 1157 bulb but not mine. Mine looks a lot like a bulb from a car with high and low beams in one with the plastic notch lock housing and this is whats printed on it "054703 12V 3030 Trident"
I'd like to find an HID replacement system for it but at the very least just be able to buy a replacement bulb from a standard auto parts store.
Thanks

Really? The website says there is..
Those are paths that are necessary to get from one area to the next. In 45 mins + - you will have ridden every single path (trail) they have and have seen the entire property... then what?

Authorities said the couple fired after they mistakenly thought the group was trespassing on their property.
Bishop said the area includes a dirt road, trees and overgrown brush and that it wasn't uncommon for people to go off-roading there. The Houston Chronicle reported that a sign in front of the suspects' home reads: "Trespassers will be shot. Survivers will be reshot!! Smile I will."
Liberty County Chief Deputy Ken DeFoor said Sheila Muhs fired a 12-gauge shotgun once, then handed it to her husband, who also fired once.
DeFoor said Sheila Muhs then called 911 and told the dispatcher: "They're out here tearing up the levee, so I shot them." If they thought the people were trespassing on their property why would they tell 911 the people were tearing up the levee that's NOT their property! It's clear that these people intentionally committed this crime and need to pay dearly for it. I'm an eye for an eye kind of guy myself so I'd like to see the dad handed a shotgun and allowed to take one shot on each criminal. Obviously I'd have a different outlook if I thought this was an accident but it doesn't appear to be one.

I haven't done one but I have considered doing one on my older GMC. One issue you may run into is that a 2wd truck doesn't have the bends in the frame to accommodate the movement of a straight axle and I believe the solution is to leaf spring the front and sub-frame it which will result in a pretty tall lift. I had checked out doing it on a 1989 GMC 2wd and tossed the idea shortly after checking into it.

Honda, Yamaha, Kawi, Suzuki.... they would all have a cover or something with their name stamped in them. My guess is it's one of those Pep-boys (or some other) variation of a Chinese quad. Problem with those is parts, even though parts are obtainable online there will certainly be an instance where you need something hard to find.
I have seen very few chain drive quads with racks on them, Yamaha had the Wolverine but I don't know what other brands had.
yeah still stumped. its so weird the name isnt on anything. We need a new hub for the wheel because for some reason on this stupid thing the wheel bearing and hub connect to the wheel itself not on the axel. Try this site, you may have to compare the part by sight but at least you have an area to start with http://www.chineseatvpart.com/

How would you rate this place? Which is more fun Bostwick or Hardrock? I am really more interested in the 4 miles of trails and was curious if anybody has rode them this year. Thanks
Never rode it but Hardrock was a really fun place to crash I can't wait to go back

Palm Beach did a bunch of crazy stuff when they were trying to close "The Towers" and "Okeechobee Woods". They spent thousands on a lifted Dodge truck on 40's and a bunch of Honda Foremans. The funniest thing was that rednecks are far more resourceful than cops trying to play redneck. The gave these cops the equipment that wasn't snorkled and all the training in the world couldn't compare to the experience that a seasoned rider would have. We stumbled on many cops stuck in their 4x4 "swamp" vehicles when we were on 2wd Honda 250s driving right by.

I called the guy because that camp is near mine. Unfortunately, he does not own the land the camp is on so you would be at the mercy of anybody who claimed the land and from what I've heard, there's a lot of that going on these days. People are taking the time and effort to determine precisely where their land is and if it's in the camping area, they are running people off. This past Saturday, I met a guy at the swimming hole who had just been kicked off his camp site. He said it was no big deal since it turned out his deeded land was in the camp area anyways, but just the same, he yanked his well casing out of the ground as a farewell, go to hell, gesture. So if I understand you correctly people are having their parcel surveyed and if someone else already has an established camp there they are being run off? It was my understanding that the RRPOA was assigning campsites for those with a full 1.25 acre deed. That is the way I understood it too, I was told that you could only put a camp up where the RRPOA told you too. I was never a fan of that but I understand why they did it

My favorite is the typical wanna be that wears the light blue denim sleeveless shirt so that he cab show off his "guns" [sic] and the lame barbed wire or Aztec tattoo around his lacking bicep.
Do you think these guys have event he slightest clue of how ridiculously funny they are to the rest of us?
Actually I don't think it's ridiculous, it's the "gear" they feel goes with the package. When I cycle I wear the silly shorts and loud shirt but they are par for the course, the loud shirt is for visual safety and the shorts assist in movement and safety. When I ride sport quad I wear the pants, jersey, helmet and sometimes the chest protector. I'm sure when I'm in sport quad gear at a riding spot that's not a race people prob think I look like I'm trying to be somebody but the reality is the gear is a safety and comfort issue so I guess it's all relevant. I do see everybody's point though, Harley Davidson seems to be an attitude more than an American icon. The "gear" they wear isn't for safety. No sleeves, no helmet, cheesy shades...etc. It's "gear" to help personify their total douchebaggery. Oh I know... but it is gear to them, it's part of how they define themselves and their riding style even though it poses no safety other than surviving a biker bar. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending them I thought I'd ad a little perspective.

I just kind of laugh that I have NEVER seen a Harley rider that didn't have some piece of Harley labeled gear on. It's as if the bike won't start unless they wear something that is labeled Harley Davidson

nice set up. where can i find one of those extension things for my hitch rack???
Sorry, it's custom It's a conversation piece too. Everywhere I go I get strange looks and people come up and want to look at it and talk about. I had a sheriff at the YeeHaw Junction Pilot looking at it saying "I don't know if that's legal or not but it sure looks WRONG" I just laughed and told him it was 100% legal and built right.
