For $20,000.00, I'll sell you 5 prime acres in Suburban Estates.  You will have access to 19,000 acres and you can split the 5 acres into 4-1.25 acre sell 3 of those and own your own 1.25 acre tract for nearly free.  Then, you'll never have to worry about a place to ride ever again.  In fact, if your crazy, the Quads Only guys have a big place out there and may let you ride with them.   Wink

"Then, you'll never have to worry about a place to ride ever again."

see how the world changes so fast. Nobody thought the government would be trying to snatch everybody's play areas away from them a year ago.

I agree 100% with gladesman, people better speak up now. I have seen the governments idea of "public use" of lands and it's not really for the public at all.

My family and I would truly miss RR. Cry Cry Cry I can't say I'm in favor of taking away one of the only ATV and hunting areas available in FL. I think it's reasonably well run, the number of people allowed in is kept in check by the having a manned front gate and memberships. The trails are litter free for the most part and most people keep to the trails. I can't believe RR is a big offender of water pollution like a big dairy or sugar cane feild would be. This just sucks IMO
4  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Problems with the Trails? on: October 29, 2010, 10:17:04 AM
Way to many blind curves maybe the trails should be one way i mean some of them any way to avoid head on crashes like the main ones heading out to the other trails.

I agree. My Wife and I just rode the Centennial trail for the first time last weekend and I admit to be a bit nervous on the blind turns. It's not a matter of if someones going to get hurt out there, it's when.  IMO a one way trail would make MUCH more sense. Or just wait until a couple people get killed then consider it. My $.02

Besides thinking you might get killed, how was the riding there. I was thinking  of taking my wife there and camping one night. Did you stay the night or just day trip.

"I'd recommend taking a GPS until you know the place"
That's what I like to hear.

Did you camp there?
6  General / Where to Ride? / Apalachicola National forest info??? on: September 03, 2010, 03:56:11 PM
The question has been asked many times, but never really any answer so I'm going to bring it up again. Anyone ever ride there. My daughter is at FSU so I was thinking or a weekend ride there. The gov sites not real great and would love to hear from someone who has ridden there. Anyone?Huh
7  General / Tech Corner / Re: Yamaha big bear 400 cooling fan on: November 09, 2009, 05:53:54 PM
It has an oil cooler even though the majority of the cooling is done by design, lots of fins and a lack of plastic around the engine.
8  General / Tech Corner / yamaha big bear 400 cooling fan on: November 09, 2009, 04:32:23 PM
Mine is on the blitz, don't know why yet. was difficult to turn by hand at first, lots of crud but now it moves freely. I don't see any fuse or relay for this which is real hard to believe one isn't in line somewhere. Anyone know if ones hiding or does the fan just toast up?

Thanks in advance

Wow, I was going to ask the same thing, just moved a daughter to FSUand was google mapping places to ride. Apalachicola National Forest looks likes it has lots of potental but I never read much about it.
10  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 20, 2009, 12:27:46 PM
Well I would not call this an easy job but it's done. It would be easy if not fot the u-joint but that thing is a pain in the butt. I can't imagine that you could do this without having to replace the u-joint. Keeping the caps and bearings in place on an old one while trying to remove it seems imposible.
11  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 17, 2009, 06:39:44 PM
I have not removed the big bolt yet behind the u-joint. I would suspect the engine will turn over while trying to remove this no? If so how you keep it from turning?
Thanks.
12  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 17, 2009, 02:53:06 PM
Well getting the u-joint apart was a nightmare but it's done. Hope to not have to do that again anytime soon.
13  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 16, 2009, 09:48:08 AM
Does a new U-joint come with new end caps, the dealer by me could not tell.
Thanks
14  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 15, 2009, 07:07:47 PM
a c-clamp??? or a brass punch.just be careful of the needle bearings. this was a 2 hour job man.

I gather the needle bearings are in the caps? The universal joint is shot anyway as one of the caps had broken on one side (before we worked on it) so the u-joint is worn.... as Matt said it would be!
15  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 15, 2009, 05:47:50 PM
Can someone explain how o punch out the universal joint while it's still on the machine. I have the C clips off but how do you get the caps off. And Matt, I still don't get it after taliking to you on the phone, just call me stupid!
16  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 11, 2009, 03:31:21 PM
Thanks all, should have the seal late this week, early next week and see how it goes. Seems strange as they wouldn't stock this part as they seem to go all the time, just like my Kawi.
17  General / Tech Corner / Re: Rear seal replacement 2007 eiger on: June 10, 2009, 10:51:47 AM
Couple of quick questions,
Drain oil first I gather?
Is the part one piece or more then one?
Any trick to removing the u joint or is it obvious?
does the seal/bearing come out easy, I know on mu BF 750 it can be rather difficult

Thanks Matt.

19  General / Tech Corner / Re: 2007 eiger manual trans funky issue when wet on: April 21, 2009, 03:51:16 PM
certainly first and reverse, don't know about the rest. Even in 4x4 front and rear barely move when this happens.
20  General / Tech Corner / 2007 eiger manual trans funky issue when wet on: April 21, 2009, 02:02:17 PM
My sons eiger SOMETIMES seems to have a slipping clutch when wet, 1 minute out of the water then its fine and strangely it very occasional even when getting wet all day. Anyone have any thoughts about why?
21  General / Open Discussion / Re: For all of you River Ranch Folks on: April 21, 2009, 01:57:02 PM
Not that I need a camp as I already own one, this seems very fairly priced if you take into account the deed, well, clearing and everything else that goes into one of these. Plus the old camps are way better then what they are giving out now
22  General / Tech Corner / 2008 Kawasaki Brute force 750 leaking oil rear drive shaft on: April 06, 2009, 10:05:24 AM
Anyone else notice this as a problem, I had the seals replace once already under warranty yet it's doing it again. Should I bring it someplace else or is this a known issue?
23  General / Open Discussion / Re: Would you care if this site was turned off at the end of the month? on: February 17, 2009, 05:51:20 PM
I received plenty of information and help from the site, I'd miss it.

Best advice you will ever get, buy a Yamaha outboard. Clearly the most reliable outboards on the market IMO.
