trails are to be a minimum of 50" so you should be alright.

Dan, the RCDR club is making the trails, but I'm sure what gearhead says here is true, so you should fit. You may have to grease the outside of your tires though! Grin
2  General / Racing Scene / Re: FTR Quad Scramble at AMP Xtreme on: March 26, 2008, 04:03:36 PM
Not a ton of elevation change, although there is some. There are some close pine areas, some streams that have cut some 8-10' gouges (some deeper)  that the course will go in and out of. Some open fields, some gator pits that were dug when the property was a gator farm (none there now fortunately Grin). The track, which most of you know is top notch!

FTR will map the course, so we don't have a lot of input. I think it will be pretty cool though.

I spoke to Jay last night. He just submits the photos to smugmug and they do all of the sales, etc. He doesn't make a profit doing it, its just for fun, so if you want any, you will have to purchase them from the website www.jaychambliss.com . Sorry guys.

Does anyone have contact info for Jay Chambliss? I found a picture I would like to purchase, but I don't want to wait to have it mailed or put .52 on my master card. I would like to purchase the photo for download.

I know him personally. Email me at julmer1@alltel.net and I will get your info.

I want to thank Brett for bringing the SSQSA to our track once again. And everyone that showed up for having patience with us. We are still learning the ropes and everyone was great. Some awesome races to be sure.

Thanks to Don Blue for providing us with top notch equipment and operators to keep the track in great shape. Thanks to Chris Johnson for hooking us up with a killer sound system.

There are some great pictures of the race at www.jaychambliss.com . About 450 pictures, so I'm sure there's one of about everyone! Hope to see all of you again next year!

We had a great time this weekend. Lyndon got some needed practice on hard pack. It was fun for me watching Chad, Lawson, Brown, Bowen, Matt, Devin, Kyle, Lyndon and some others run around the track. Some pretty fast young men for sure.
All those boys were CRUISIN to say the least! There is going to be some goooood racin this weekend!

How about a bonfire for Sat evening? Just a thought.

Toast Sounds good to me.  If the track officials don't mind we can bring a couple empty 55 gallon drums to use for fires   Yup!

Some drums would be fine. I don't have any problem with that. We are talking about maybe doing a bonfire, but it will depend on how the day goes. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Thanks for the update Em'. It was good to see you out there again and running! Grin Sorry you had pesky neighbor trouble, but they seem to think if they photograph everything that we will go away. I guess they will be disappointed! Cry

It's coming up quick! We would love to see a record SSQSA crowd there this weekend! The early birds were out in force these past few days to get a jump on the practicing! Grin

If anyone has any trouble with the neighbors on the way in or out please let us know, and let the police know also. The number for the local sheriff is 386 362-2222. We don't expect any trouble, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Thanks

Hey!
I was just making sure you guys are running a quad class this sunday for the Toys for tots race.  Your website still says they're going to announce quad classes.  It's a little bit of a drive for me to get up to your guys track.  i just wanted to make sure you are running a quad class sunday.  Thanks!!!

Em

Hey sorry I didn't get back with you. I meant to hit repeat message on my phone to listen to your message again and I hit delete. We had only about 10 quads today. Several or them were pro/am riders and one was a pro rider. I don't know if they were coming back tomorrow or not. I can't tell you we will for sure have a quad class because I just don't know. I hate to turn you away, but I also hate to see you drive any sort of distance to run by yourself. I hope that you will definitely keep us in mind, we're trying to get the momentum back that we had after the SSQSA race, but it's been a slow steady process.

Thanks

We will run the class if there is someone to race it. I can't guarantee how many people will be there, or how many will be in the classes. If you want to give me a call today around noon I should have a better idea of the number of quads.

Thanks

19  General / Where to Ride? / Re: AMP Xtreme in Live Oak is back open! on: November 30, 2007, 01:03:29 PM
200 people at $10 would be better. Because those 200 will bring friends the next time. Now you have 300. Now what happens when those 100 you have cannot make it out there, you have 50 or 75. I guess 100 is better if you only want so many people out there. Maybe it will be better to have less until you get it completed with other areas to ride because the track can only hold just so many. I hope you reconsider pricing after you get mud and trails. That way you can have more people.

I really do appreciate the input. I will definitely take all of this into consideration. It still is a matter of dollars and cents for us right now. I haven't had any of the guys that come complain that we were charging too much for what we offer. It will help when we get the rest open, but we need money to do the other things. There's only so much we can do at a time. I am glad that other riding areas are able to charge so little, it really helps the budget rider/racer, but at this point in time we have to make ends meet.
20  General / Where to Ride? / Re: AMP Xtreme in Live Oak is back open! on: November 30, 2007, 09:46:03 AM
Just to put in a little perspective for you, what do you think is better 200 people at $10 per day or 100 people at $20 per day? Same amount of money, but a whole lot less wear and tear on the track. If we were established and getting 200 people per weekend this might be feasible, but we are brand new and are trying to provide a first class operation. What is a reasonable number to charge for a premier motocross track in your opinion? Not a rutted up sand track, but a nice, well groomed clay track. I think a serious racer is not so much concerned about the trails and such, but want a first class race track.

Eventually we will have trails, flat track, possible a TT track and a mud pit. This area will definitely be cheaper as it takes a lot less time and $$ to keep operating.

Thanks for your input though we will do everything we can to keep the cost down.

I'm sorry to say it. I do appreciatte anywhere to ride but those prices are way out of reach in my opinion. $20 a day per person. A family of four would be $80 per day. Plus membership fees. And you only offer a motocross track. You may want to check with other places to ride and see who their insurance company is with. Most only require a waiver. Most other places are $20 to $30 a weekend and offer more options on riding.

Try opening a track and let me know how that goes for you. We just shelled out $6,000.00 for a permit, topo survey and engineering to tell us we don't need to do anything! It takes a lot of $20 bills to make up $6,000.00 and that doesn't even get into our lease, insurance, start up costs and operating expenses. I would love to let everyone ride for $10.00 per person, but its just not feasible. We would love to have your business, but we have to stay in business to get it.

We are now open again! Last of the permit stuff went through today. We will be open from 10 am to 4 pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of this week. So come out and ride off some of that weight you gain on turkey day. Cost is $20 per rider per day plus a $5.00 per day membership or you can pay for a year membership for $35.00. This is required by our insurance company.

I've officially been told that there is a good chance that we would have our permit by Monday. I know that's not what those of you that have been asking want to hear, but barring any unforeseen incidents we should be rockin' next week. Grin
