General / Where to Ride? / Re: Need members input ! Please read ! Riding area

In Broward off of US27 and Griffin Rd would be the perfect place for an OHV park with trails. Its part of the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor WMA. That's where everyone rode back in the 80's and then it was closed off because someone got injured on FPL's property and sued. FWC runs it so it would be up to them ultimately. If Airboats are allowed back there so should ATV's.

Has anyone else detected a pattern here? They have closed this area every year for the past 4 or 5 years around this time. It's always near or during hunting season. I could understand last year because we got more rain than I can ever remember and deer were actually living on the levee's. But this year has just been an average rain year for us. Can't they regulate the water level out there with pumps and flood gates? Something smells fishy to me.

I was told by an officer that this will be a voluntary law by the countys. So it will need to be pushed in your specific county.
Yes in the sence that the countys and cities have the option to write an ordiance banning it. However until that happens you will be allowed to do it. It applies to the entire state. There's no such thing as a voluntary law.

I'm not sure if this is something you want to push. It becomes effective 10/1/06 which means you will be allowed to ride on a dirt road with an ATV if the speed limit is less than 35 miles an hour and you have a drivers license. I bet the cities and counties are not even aware of the new law and if you do bring it up they might create an ordinance to stop it before it happens. I can tell you starting 10/1/06 I will have the ordinance printed up so when a cop stops me on a dirt road I can show him the new law. I wonder if PBSO can enlighten us a little bit about it.

Thats not an independent study video. Rick Titus is in that video and he works for Ford sp its only gonna show the good points of Fords product.
Now that I think about it that video may have been from Ford's Web Site. Still neat to watch though since it shows you which parts are better.

Yea, it also means the F-150 is heavy as heck. We bought a fully loaded F-250 King Ranch Supercrew Fx4 and are extremely happy with it. ![Cheesy](http://www.atvflorida.com/forum/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I looked up the GVW for my truck and it's just over 7000 pounds. It's almost as heavy as my wife's Expedition. That explains the poor gas mileage. I do however like the new Chevy Tahoo over the Expedition. I just wish Chevy would have fixed that third row seat configuration in the back. You still have to pull out those chairs if you want maximum storage space in the back.

There is a video going around done by an independant research group that takes apart a Chevy, Ford and Dodge truck down to the last bolt. It compares all the parts of the three trucks and you would be amazed how superior the ford parts are. The Dodge and Chevy parts just look cheap. Even the bolts Ford uses are bigger and thicker. The steel plating underneath the bed is twice as thick in the Ford. Most High Performance Tech shops know about it. I just bought a new Black 2006 F150 Lariat Supercrew fully loaded and it came with 20 inch wheels from the factory. It's bad ass.

hey Gamer i saw that u can have a seet personally made for the yamaha wolverines casue i have a wolverine and i was looking into it but we bought another wheeler so we dont need it
Big Cypress will not allow you to tow people unless the manufacturer of your ATV states it is specifically designed to hold a passenger. I have one of those seats that fits on the rack and they won't let me use it. Now I can use it at Holeylands only because I have not been told I can't. I think in 2007 or 08 there is a new law that will go into effect in Florida that says you will not be allowed to tow anyone on an ATV unless it is designed to do so.

Most places are starting to require if your going to tow someone that the ATV be made to do so. That's why I wish more companys start making them. Artic Cat and Bombardier are the only ones making them that I know of. I wish Yamaha would make one. I need to buy one so my son can start going with me in Big Cypress.

Guys, next time you see people acting like a-holes out there tell or call the FWC. Get a discription of their bike or truck. I have told on some idiots out there and they were told to leave. Don't take matters into your own hands. These @#$%ers think they own the land out there and have no consideration towards others.
FWC is pretty bored out there and they'll love to ticket you or kick you out.
If you're a responsible rider, don't take their crap. Report them. I do.
Thurmud, whats the number you call to report people to FWC? I don't have a problem reporting people acting like idiots out there. Thanks..

The 25mph speed limit sign is on the paved asphalt road when you first start heading out there. I don't think there are any speed limit signs on the dirt roads. It doesnt matter though because your supposed to go by the last speed limit posted unless you see a diffrent one. I agree that there should be more signs.

It pisses me off to read that article. I can't even believe there talking about woodpecker and panther habitat in the little 700 acre area they want us to ride. The panthers and woodpeckers can move to the 70,000 acre's in the Picayune forest that were no longer allowed in. As far as the soil being polluted I'm sure anywhere you ride with mud there is going to be some form of pollution. We were all probably riding in high arsenic levels out at Bad Luck Prairie.

When is Yamaha going to make a two seater? I would love to buy another Yamaha but because they do not have a two seater I'll have to get the Bombardier Outlander. The way the State is going with inforcing rules and laws it won't be long before you will not be allowed to tow anyone unless it's made to do it.

The last time I went to River Ranch they did have flags at the front office for sale. You might want to call them in advance to make sure they have them. I believe they were under 10 bucks. If not you can find them online or at a bike store.

Yeah I don't mind the rule at all. I already have a nice flag pole that I purchased for river ranch. I just wanted to make everyone aware of the new rule. I'm happy to see that we can now ride in Holeylands year around.

I was looking over the new 2006-07 regulations for Holeylands WMA and it seems they have added a new rule requiring all ATV's to have an orange flag attached at a minimum height of 6 feet. This also applies to the Everglades WMA on the south side. Has anyone on here been told about this by an FWC officer out there? Here is the link to the new rules and it can be found in bold text. http://myfwc.com/hunting/wma/2006-07/South/HOLEY_LAND.pdf

A missle would not come in being that low to the ground. They either come straight down at the target or at a 45 degree angle. Plane wreckage was also found on the ground. For all of you that believe in the conspiracy theory, the government called you crazy on the news the other night. ![Huh](http://www.atvflorida.com/forum/Smileys/default/huh.gif)

Before closing it down I would just suggest to close the Levee's to ATV's. No more riding on the Levee's would prevent almost all the accident's. It might make it more inconvenant to trailer your bike to the spot you want to ride but I would do it to keep the area open. Everytime I go there people are speeding down the Levee's, jumping it or doing donuts where everyone parks.

If you did not receive a sticker with your title then you need to go down to the tax agency or court house to get one. I think there like 5 bucks. Just bring your title with you and let them know you didnt get a sticker. This is all new to the State so they often times forget to send or give you a sticker.
