1  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ocala's not on my list no more.. on: March 10, 2008, 06:30:04 AM
We were just there yesterday, rode for 4-5 hours and didn't get stopped once.  I read up on here about the new rules first and we had a great time.  Met some really cool people.  Do you happen to have the GPS coordinates for Blue Sink?  We found a lake in the middle of no where but we aren't sure if it was Blue Sink or not.

Last weekend we did get stopped by a ranger because we had two kids under 16 with us and they didn't have helmets on.  He just told us the rules and said if he writes us a ticket for that it's considered child endangerment and the Dept. of Families would get involved.  We quickly rode back to the truck and put helmets on them.  We just figured that we weren't going to be going fast so we didn't need them.  Lesson learned and thanks to the Ranger for not giving us a ticket.

Hey Suz do you know what time that place opens on July 1st?

Also, when I called the other day they said you have to bring your bikes with you so they can inspect them when you buy the stickers.  Smiley

We are planning on going to Croom on July 1st to check it out and I was wonderin' who else was going.  I called them a couple days ago and they told me they are actually selling the annual stickers Monday June 25th - Friday June 29 but if you come over there on June 30th (saturday) you have to pay $35 for that one day if you don't have the annual pass.  Kind of stupid if you ask me but whatever.  I wish you could buy those stickers online and be done with it - that would be nice.

Never been there so hopefully it's worth the $50.   Cool

Yeah the ranger told us to stay between the yellow markers and the woods, but there were a ton of people riding under them.  Oh well... live and learn.  Smiley

That's good to know.  Does that mean if we go out of state to ride we have to buy stickers for that state as well?

$50 isn't too bad for a year.  We will probably go check it out if not July 1st then very soon there after.

Everyone I've talked to says Polaris is a good brand and I love my Trail Boss.  I tried driving my boyfriends beast and it's so hard to handle / steer - it's just not fun like mine.

Another thing he noticed with his is that the exhaust pipe is right close to the side plastic cover with little protection it melted the plastic piece that held it in and so now he has to be careful that it doesn't fall off.  That happened within it's first 10 hours.  We took it to the dealership and showed them and they knew about the problem - said they'd seen it many times before because the heat shield wasn't thick enough to protect the plastic.  The service tech we talked to said they will have to call the warranty dept at Polaris and see what they want them to do about it - that was 3 weeks ago.  That and the bushings on the back were dry rotted but they already told us they have the parts to fix that so we have to take it up there.  I guess we'll ask them about the side panel then.  Other than those two minor issues we love them.

 Cool

Hello.  New to this forum.  We just bought 2 4-wheelers and have been riding out at Big Scrub a few times and met some nice folks.  Had a run in with the rangers once because I was riding under the power lines and didn't know that was a no-no but he was cool about it.  My boyfriend and I are having a great time and I was hoping there was maybe a group ride planned for Father's Day.  Does anyone know?

By the way he has a Polaris Sportsmen 500 HO and I have a Polaris Trailboss.

I was reading the posts about the sticker requirement for ATV's and the dealership we bought them from gave the stickers to us with the deal, supposedly lifetime stickers.

Also have a question about the place near Brooksville, Kroom i think.  I know it's $50 per year to ride there but I was told the trails are kind of boring.  Any other suggestions to ride other than those two areas?   Smiley
