General / Open Discussion / ATC250R suspension set up?
|
on: November 27, 2007, 10:58:32 AM

Is anyone really into these things anymore? I took mine out the other day to Croom and had a blast. However I am used to the suspension on my TRX and I realized that its time to bring the ATC up to par if I am going to bust it out of the dark depths of the garage. Does anyone have experience with the set up on these? any aftermarket shocks, springs, valve kits or even a good revalve on the stock rear shock also the front end-same thing? I am about 200lbs w/o gear doing (some what aggressive) woods recreational riding on this thing and putting it to my buddies on their 4 wheelers :-) as they laugh.
thanks in advance for your time.

try contacting or sending your prototype to vortex and ask Matt if he will do it on the cad don't know what he will charge but it might be a more efficient time wise way to do it

an 87? $10K I thought 86 was the last year that they were made also and that the TRX250R (4 wheeler) took the ATC250R's place. In 86 they had both the ATC250R and TRX250R which was the TRX250R's first year of production. Was it an aftermarket frame that was a an 87 frame hence titled an 87, a left over 86 sold in 87 or a true factory Honda produced 87? I would be interested in knowing about this trivia. You don't happen to have a VIN# of the 87 or any history of the few made or any differences about the 87 do you? I would be interesting in knowing as well now that my interest in the topic has increased.
Also out of sheer curiosity, how did this mystery question come up? We should start a little trivial / facts thread / section about the ATC 250R i.e first year, differences, when they became water cooled, decals, there was a TRX250R forum that had this section and it was some cool info to say the least. It is a way to preserve the history of the ATC 250R as well as educational for those who care.

Do you need a chassis? I have one that I was about to part out.
-also-
as an FYI Saber racing makes a 500cc kit for the 250r bottom end big$$$ but you may want to check them out if you have a high or limitless budget.
