I gotta reschedule my trip for the 2nd weekend after superbowl. Anyone ever gone on the weekend of the Feb. 14th? is it going to be packed? will there be any camping spots?
Been crowded the last few weekends. There have been empty camping spots the last few weekends but it has been cold. The least crowded weekend is the weekend after the permit expires in the middle of the year.

so will I notice the key a lot in 3rd or 4th gear?
No, thats not what I meant. I was saying you notice the loss of torque from your pipe more at the bottom of 3rd and 4th gear. The timing key is a easy, cheap power gain that you will notice alot more than removing your choke. It take's less than a half hour. Just do it.

All bike's are diff but, most bike and trucks for that matter lose a little on the bottom when you free up the exhaust. On a torquey motor like the 4oo you don't notice it until u get into 3rd and 4th gear. I'm glad you got the gains you did with your pipe. I have never had the same.

I called Curtis Sparks and they said high compression is 12.5:1. So under that they said the key is fine. Right now my 3rd gear doesnt pull real hard from the bottom end of it. Its better with the mods I have but I would like more to it. How would you rate the gain compared to a slip on exhaust and jetted properly or a better flowing air filter with the air box lid removed and jetted properly?
Hard to say? I think you would get back the bottom end you lost with the filter and pipe if not more.

I have one installed on my current bike and on one of my old bikes. Much better throttle response and bottom end torque. I don't think it does much on the top end, if anything at all. You will get higher oil temps if you are slow trail riding or riding technical hills. I run Tinner air scoops which helps a bit. Some people say you should not run one with higher comp. but my last bike had 426 bore with a 11 to 1 comp. and I had no problems. It is a easy install. You will need a left side gasket, starter cover gasket and the key and bolt that comes with the kit.
Make sure you turn the flywheel all the way to the left before you tighten the bolt.

It runs fine, has power but it smokes when it gets really hot. I dida compression test today and got a reading of only 85PSI!!! Its supposed to be between 100 and 128PSI. I'm going to check it again tomorrow just to make sure I didnt have a small leak in the compression test connectors. Anyways time for a rebuild but what to do? Like I said it only smokes when its hot and its most noticable when its hot if you hit the gas quick. The smoke apears to be white sometimes maybe a bluish tint which is burning oil. So piston and rings or valve seals? Maybe both need to be replaced not sure. What should I do? Where can I get a leak test done to diagnose where th eproblem is coming from? If it needs to be bored out who locally or close will do it? Are valve seals hard to do yourself? Any help or thoughts would greatly be apreciated.
Thanks
Sent you a PM

OK here a question for you, is it a single boat? If it has two engines, one rotates the other way ![Wink](http://www.atvflorida.com/forum/Smileys/default/wink.gif) As far as the cams goes........ I been using race cams on boat for a long time without any problem. The exhuast system we uses the water only too cool the exhaust system and doesnt mix into the exhaust, runs on the outside of the manifolds out the back of the boat. No one has made a counter engine in at least 20 years. It is all done in the drive.

I put a non marine 350 chevy in my boat. About the only difference is a marine engine has brass freeze plugs stainless steel head gaskets, stainless steel water pump for the block. So I changed all that out. The marine fuel pumps and starters are different also.some say the pistons are different but I'm not sure on that.
You are correct Sir. But don't forget the cam.

Get a diamondback with a car motor & beltdrive gearbox & never look back. the addage that "real airboats have airplane motors" is crap. I will put my cousins 13.5' Diamondback against any aircraft motor anyday on dry ground & prove it. He has a 383 stroker in it & it will run up the steep side of the ridge in Kissimee & from the milkbus to Lake Cypress through the marsh when there is no water in it.
The best thing is it is on 93 octane & regular oil. No AV gas & av oil. Plus you can get parts anywhere for less than half the price.
You can go to Diamondback in Cocoa & tour the factory. The owners are standup people.
He speaks the truth.

The camping spot east of croom is called Silver Lake and they always have spots!
Not true. I was up there last weekend and they had no spots by Friday afternoon, and it was still slap full on Saturday when I left at about 5:00 PM. Talking to the rangers up there they fill up every weekend. After all the snowbirds are gone its empty, we stayed in the upgraded Cypress Glen, with elec and water... Its been about 3 years since I have camped there since i live 5 minutes away. It must of become more popular. Any luck with your bike Cain?

I'm going to call hernando.
Cool pics chillin! three wheel action!
Looks like Hernando to me to. I still have a limp from one of those hills ![Smiley](http://www.atvflorida.com/forum/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I was riding a Dirt Bike there back in the day. Those hills are so much harder on a quad.I can't even think about trying them on a ATC.
