1  General / Racing Scene / Re: Mud Raceing at Thunderbowl was Awsome on: June 06, 2007, 06:26:03 PM
it must have just looked that way because in the level areas it was well over the tires and in most of the holes my whole bike would go under except the bars and snorkel. and that was after they pumped about 10"s out of it because of the rain the night before.
Davey I think the next event is July 8th, not the 1st. That's what Kenny said anyways.

Hey guys it's Dave, I had the red vinson 500. Man I had a blast out there and can't wait to run it again!! Towards the end of the day I was really getting the hang of it and was doing pretty good at running the pit. I just hope next time some people show up in my class so I can run against bikes my own size. I also got a nice little sunburn and was REALLY sore the next day. It's amazing how much mud bogging can drain you! It was really great to meet alot of really greta people and have an awsome time that won't be forgotten. I know one thing that anybody who ran the pit will not soon be forgetting is that god awful hole on the left side that pulls you right into the wall!! HAHAHAHA Ya'll take care and i'll see you next time.
3  General / Tech Corner / Re: Venom Winches on: February 25, 2007, 07:35:08 PM
I got a Venom 3000 winch for my vinson for Christmas and i've had to use it a few times and it has worked very well. I got the one that had the model specific mount and it was still only $169 shipped to my door. It also must be fairly water/mud tight because i've had it under water/mud quite a bit and it still works good. Their are also alot of guys on highlifter running them and having good luck with them. I wouldn't waste my money on a Warn. If you wanna go big name brand get a ramsey, warns are crap. i know 3 different people that have warns take a dump after just a few uses and unless you spend almost $500 on the 3.0 they are not sealed so get in water and their goes your winch. The only thing I didn't like about the venom winch that i got is that it comes with a pretty small hook (oohh whoop dee doo!) so I went to Lowes and dropped a whopping $7 and bought a big one and put on.
4  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ride on: February 15, 2007, 03:52:19 PM
as far as i know they do. i was just out there about a week ago and thier was a bunch of people riding and i didn't see any signs up other than the nromal signs for the pit on the south side where they have the gravel piles.
5  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New places to ride! on: January 26, 2007, 02:50:22 PM
Are there any clubs or anything for utility quads? It's kind of hard to ride with bikes and sport quads when you are on a 600+lb. machine with heavy tires and a high COG. haha. But my friends and I have been looking for more people to ride with because it seems like everytime we try to get a ride going everybody drops out and we end up with like 2 or 3 people which sucks. I don't understand these people that are paying a good chunk of money EVERY SINGLE month to just let thier quad sit in the garage!?!?! I ride every single chance I get. Now granted i'm kind of lucky due to the fact that I live in the ONF in salt springs so I can hit the trails from my house Grin
6  General / Where to Ride? / Re: mondex in palatka on: January 23, 2007, 02:09:18 PM
yes it gets SUPER packed with drunk, crazy people on super bowl weekends. For and ATV'er it is very dangerous because their are HUGE mud trucks running around with drunk drivers. A truck on 44's vs. an atv is a VERY ugly thing.

I have found out though that the day or night to go riding on is saturdays. thier are alot less people (almost none) on saturdays than thier are on sundays. Sundays are pretty busy up there.
7  General / Where to Ride? / Re: What is this place called?? on: January 08, 2007, 12:22:12 PM
Ok thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering why some were saying it was 5A and some were saying it is scottsmore? I kinda figured that it was 1 in the same but I wanted to make sure. Thanks.
8  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ONF?? Where is the best place my a zilla and a shee? on: January 05, 2007, 11:30:08 AM
On the opposite end of the forest.
9  General / Where to Ride? / Re: What is this place called?? on: January 05, 2007, 11:27:41 AM
Is it 5a or scottsmore?? Are they the same place? I'm starting to get confused. The place i'm talking about is a little ways south of the LPGA blvd. exit for Daytona on the right side (heading south) of I-95. It looked kinda like a big dirt parking area with alot of woods back behind it, and it looked pretty muddy(now granted this was the day after Christmas and it had been raining for 2 days). The trucks were parked in the dirt area right off of the linttle rinky-dink road that runs paralell with I-95.
10  General / Where to Ride? / Re: What is this place called?? on: January 04, 2007, 11:05:40 AM
After reading about all the bad accidents out there I don't think I wana go anyway. I'll just stick to the forest and Holopaw.
11  General / Open Discussion / Re: Trailer Estimation on: January 01, 2007, 06:56:59 PM
I'm not sure but it'll need to be HUGE!!!! And you'd better have one nasty diesel to pull it! An enclosed big enough to haul all that would cost as much as a small house.
12  General / Where to Ride? / Re: mondex in palatka on: December 31, 2006, 12:36:36 PM
As far as I know thier are places you can ride a sport quad, you just might get a little bit muddy though but you can go around most of the spots. Yeah we went out this saturday and rode a little bit of the yellow and the red trails and rode the whole blue trail. I really like the blue trail because of all the hardpacked clay parts in it, no freakin whoops.

Vforce: do you have an orange KFX700 like in your avatar? If so were you out this sat.? I saw a really sharp looking orange Vforce this sat. I was on a red vinson with zillas and a snorkel and i was riding with a silver bruteforce and a red KQ700 and thier son on a KFX50.
13  General / Where to Ride? / Re: What is this place called?? on: December 31, 2006, 12:29:59 PM
So you can ride out there even if you're not a property owner? It looked really cool. I would definately respect the hunters stuff as I am one myself. I've also never left trash anywhere i've ridden, I always carry out what I carried in. I might have to check this place out but i'll probably wait till the end of this month when hunting season is over. Thanks for the help though.
14  General / Where to Ride? / Re: What is this place called?? on: December 29, 2006, 10:41:05 PM
Ohh, I thought that was down in south florida. Isn't thier alot of wrecks there?
15  General / Where to Ride? / What is this place called?? on: December 29, 2006, 09:38:20 PM
The other day we were heading down south on 95 and a little ways south of Daytona (seemed like 5-10 miles??) right off of 95 i saw a huge spot with a bunch of trucks with trailers parked there and a bunch of quads. It looked like a pretty large area to ride and it looked like it might even have some decent mud too. Of course it had been raining for 2 days too. Does anybody know what this place is called?? Is it legal? I'm guessing it's free seeing as how it was just a big dirt area with a bunch of trucks parked there. How do you get there, I saw it off of 95 but their was no way to get to it from there. Thanks for any info.
16  General / Where to Ride? / Re: mondex in palatka on: December 28, 2006, 09:30:45 PM
Hey KUMA: I live just south of Salt Springs on 19 and know right where the mondex are at and have been wanting to go some time. Maybe we could meet up sometime and go? I am on vacation for the majority of this month so pretty much anytime is fine. And I just got my 3k lb. winch for Christmas too so between the snorkel, 4x4, mudzillas and a winch i'd say i'm ready. I have friends that have been their in both trucks and 4wheelers and they said it was really cool. I've been to Holopaw and that was AWSOME!!!!! The only thing is though is my truck is 2wd so i'd have to park up front, probably at the first entrance from the south(the one that looks like someones driveway).

Vforce: It is about 10-15 miles(guesstimate) NORTH of the rodman dam entrance on Hwy 19.
17  General / Open Discussion / Getting a winch for Christmas!! on: December 16, 2006, 11:09:52 AM
Well my fiancee is getting me a winch for Christmas. I'm getting a Venom 3000lb for my Vinson. I'm also getting a nice set of aluminum Tri-fold ramps so I don't have to drive up those scary wooden planks anymore!! HAHA I'd really like to get a small trailer but they have went up soooo much in price in the last year or so that it'll be awhile before i get one. Plus now that I finally have a fullsize truck instead of my ranger it's not too bad loading the bike in the bed.

Yeah and don't forget the fact that he's very anti-gun too.
19  General / Open Discussion / Re: Looking For More ATV Riding Friends on: November 08, 2006, 10:22:38 AM
I really wish I lived closer to holopaw because I went there with a few freinds a few weeks ago and that place was AWSOME!! We had a blast out there, but it is over 2 hours away for us. We still plan on returning though because it is just so much fun. When we went out their was a ton of people out there but the cool thing was that even with that many people it still wasn't overcrowded. I was out with 2 rincons and a grizz with 6" gorilla lifts and 29.5" outlaws on them. They were the biggest quads out there (they are HUGE). I got to test my snorkel a few times that day! HAHA
20  General / Open Discussion / Re: New Bass Pro Shops on: November 03, 2006, 09:52:35 AM
Where is the new one at? I love Bass Pro shop but I never have enough money when I go! Cry I could spend a gangload of money in there. As much as I like Bass Pro it pales in comparison to the Cabelas I went to in PA!! It was alot bigger and had alot more hunting stuff than fishing stuff(of course that's why it's called Bass Pro) and i'm not a real big fisher, i'd much rather be out in the woods. But bass Pro is an awsome place, i'd just love to see a Cabela's open up somewhere down here or even in GA.
21  General / Open Discussion / Re: What bike to choose? on: November 03, 2006, 09:47:07 AM
My buddy just got a kfx50 for his stepson and it is AWFUL!!!! It has absolutely no power, and he is a skinny 7yr old. It doesn't even have enough power to ride around through the eureka pit. When it gets in deep sand with just a little bit of an incline it just sits there and grunts but won't move. Also it's suspension looks like they just welded the a-arms to the frame by the way the things bucks and bounces around. even on small bumps the thing comes off the ground and throws the kid all over the place. It also has no electric start either. stay far, far, far away from the kfx50!!!!
22  General / Open Discussion / Re: suggestions/opinions on some mud tires for my ute on: October 17, 2006, 11:29:14 AM
yeah if you turn the tire around it will make them work alot better in sand but it kills their mud ability which defeats the whole purpose of having a mud tire.

OIF_Warrior: If you are not a serious mudder I would either go with the bugs or the 589's because the zillas are awful in sand and are REALLY rough under 10mph. Tey are also a VERY heavy tire so if you don't have a bigger cc bike they could really hurt your performance. But the one really good thing about the zillas is that they are most likely the coolest, baddest looking tire out there!!! But the 589's and bugs are both very good tires. If you do go with the 589's go with the titan and not ITP, they are the same exact tire but the Titan 589 has a nice rim guard whereas the ITP 589 doesn't.
Here is my vinson with zillas.

for an absolute TON of info on this subject check out the forums at www.highlifter.com From what I have seen and read about (almost all of my friends are mudders) the mudbugs do pretty well on the trails and still do pretty good in the mud too but they wear down fast. If you want an awsome mudder and are willing to give up some trail capability (probably not a good thing if you only mud 40% of the time) check out the maxxis mudzilla's, Highlifter outlaws or the Interco Vampire EDL's. If you are looking for a more trail oriented tire that won't let you down in the mud too bad look at the Swamp witches (find them on ebay for REALLY cheap!), Highlifter MST(same as swampwitch with a few small changes but ALOT more $$$), ITP mudlites XTR's or a set of GBC gators (pretty much the same as mudbugs but they are cheaper and wear longer). The aggressive mud tires are gonna dig REALLY bad in soft sand. There are times when i have to put it in 4wd just to get up some sand hills that have deep soft sand (like the eureka pit) with my mudzillas.
24  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Rodman Dam riding area on: October 06, 2006, 10:39:59 AM
You can PM me or email me and I can give you directions to get there. I also live pretty close to there so if I am not working when you come up I would bring my quad out too and get some of my friends to come out too.
25  General / Open Discussion / Re: Where is your favorite place to ride??? on: September 20, 2006, 12:23:55 AM
Well since I live in the ONF that's where i do my riding. I really enjoy the trails on the south side of the eureka bridge and the trails at the bottom of the eureka pit. I've also found some pretty cool trails on the south side of 4o and east of hwy 19 (grasshopper lake area).
