Razr II rears are a thing of the past, they dont hook up nearly as well as I-Razr's.....they arent anywhere near as controllable in a hard slide as Razr's and their increased traction isnt much better. If you have to only run 1 set of tires for XC make it I Razr's
SVT......with the YFZ you are going to want to run 21 inch Razr II fronts. Trust me, there were a bunch of people that made the switch in FTR after some of us that run the nationals were turned onto this late last season. If $$ allows the absolute best combination is to have a set of I-Razr rears and a set of regular Razr rears mounted on two sets of Hiper rims. THis gives you the best of both worlds, wet or dry.

Mike and Melissa are awesome!!..........they have helped me outta some serious jams in the past.
I am currently running an ATP race engine and couldnt be happier, it rips, starts first kick, runs for 2 hours at a time and laughs at me when I shut it off. It just asks to keep going.
I wouldnt consider any other builder and their customer service is second to NONE!
to anyone looking for a serious engine builder with AWESOME customer service, look no futher then ATP....

I am running PRM skids as well. I have there .125 belly skid and there .250 swinger skid. I dont run the swinger skid here in florida. In addition I have also severly cut down the swinger skid so that it just covers the sprocket and brake rotor. It doesnt drag nearly as much
You can run a sprocket guard from GT THUNDER if you dont want to EVER run a rear skid. These are awesome!
Call Mike Walker at ATP racing and he will get you a killer price on whatever you want, tell him I had you call.....

You dont really need to run skids in FL........................I dont run a swinger skid just to get more ground clearance. It is a nice piece of insurance, but it isnt a necesity.
Alot of the A and AA racers are running without swingarm skids just to get the bikes closer to the ground. I know that I run my bike at only 6 inches of ground clearance down here in the FL sand. If you are only racing in FL I would say skip it, but if you ride anywhere else I would consider it a must.
As for a belly skid..........This is a MUST in whatever kind of cross country racing you are doing
Hope this helps and hope to see you at the races. Look some of us up when you get there, this is really a great group of people.

I'll be there, I really enjoyed that course, its going to be fun to be out there for 2 full hours this time. From the look of the lap times it looks like we will be out there for 4 laps, it ought to make for a good time, and hopefully some wore out racers, cause I know I will be.
See yall up there

yeah, the blaster only went in reverse when it arrived at ATP, the owner had attempted the repair his self, and caused some trouble. I was at ATP the afternoon this was put back together, and Mike busted his a$$ to get that thing back together before the rodman ride. I can attest that it was extremly complicated and would like to see anyone that else that thinks they know about ATV's to try and figure that one out.

the houser arms came in on monday and they are on, as is the rear shock, everything else has been on it for two weeks. The only thing I am waiting on are the Axis fronts from Laz @ GT Thunder.............I should have them in a few weeks, hopefully I put the Rekluse in and have got it broken in and rode if for about another hour, so far I love it, but we will see after a few races and the constant maintnance necessary to keep that thing going what my final evaluation is. Good Luck this weekend, go out there and have some fun!!!.......well see yall next weekend at Osteen right?? Mike

the competition between Honda and Yamaha is great not only for racers but for the recreational rider. They are both GREAT quads and when Suzuki joins with their quad there will be 3 great 450s.
Race quads are only limited by what you want to spend, you can make a 300cc sport quad fast if you want to. I know that my old 400EX handed many a YFZ and 450R's a$$ kickins in hairscrambles but its got more parts then I want to mention, I have also had my a$$ handed to me by many a YFZ and 450Rs In racing its about the rider and how much you want to spend, not what you are riding. This being said I just purchased a 450R and hope that it will be as great as great a race machine as the EX has been. The fact of the matter is all quad riders benifit from the friendly competition between the Big three quad makers!

FTR works on a advancement point system.....if you have 50 by seasons end you must move up at the start of the next season. It is 10 points for a win, 5 for a 2nd place finish, 4 for a 3rd and so on down to 6th. You can figure out what you have for the season. You can move up a class voluntarly as well.

curtus......fuel up with race gas, then add 87 when you get to 88 store. You will use much less then a half a tank to get to 88 store if that thing is jetted right. Last time I made that ride on the EX I used a just over a gallon to get there. Mine had more done then yours does so I should burn more fuel then you.

thanks.......its going to need alot of work to get to where the EX was, but I have already ordered enough parts to make me sick. I have everything except the front a-arms ordered and I am probably going with ARS/FX arms.
I am looking forward to getting on it and seeing how it differs from the EX. I was starting to get spoiled with the Baldwin prepped PEP's

Go with the Maxxis I-Razr..........this is a fabulous tire, that does everything well. LOTS of people are switching to it, and its got a new radial style construction which lets it wear extremely well, yet have great traction in ALL types of surfaces

You have to ride them both, they both are awsome i ended up with a yfz because i race harescrambles and wanted the electric start.
The reason why most pro's are switching from yamaha to honda, is because honda is offering contingencies and yamaha is not. $500 for 1st place on a honda. Paul, this is Mike from FTR.........I went and picked up a 450R last weekend and have started getting in ready.

contingency or not people are winning on the 450R............not bashing the YFZ one bit, its an unbelieveable quad and there are still more local riders on them then 450R's.
Once you start spending serious $$ on a quad I dont care if you are in a Z400, 400EX, YFZ or 450R or anything else it starts to come down to rider.

sorry about the incident.....I just read this at floridaquadriders as you posted it here. One of these days the bad luck has to run out and you will be there hurting some folks!!! I am looking at the ARS/AXIS setup......if you dont mind me asking what did it cost to get it. I am sure you got some help from image, but do you have a ballpark number?? Thanks for checking on the frame!! LOL.......if I didnt have my laptop I couldnt survive, I was working almost the entire drive to get the quad, luckly Dad was there to drive as always!! PS..... do you have a way to get in touch with Chris S.?? I have his ## but I think I put it in my phone with the last 4 numbers mixed up , and I need to shout at him Mike

YFZ.........I just got a 450R, the old 400 still runs perfect, I used it to get 2nd in class and 12th overall at Gatorback. So I guess you could say I am doing some of both, lots of parts are already ordered for the 450, but the EX is still running perfect. yeah, went and picked it up on friday ..........have only been on it about 30 minutes total. I have finals for school keeping me real busy right now, however they havent kept me from shopping for parts. I have already started amassing some parts, I just have to get this suspension sorted out.......I need to see what people are running and what I can afford. How did you do in SC?.......I heard something about you getting tangled up with another rider , but it was third person and they werent sure on their story. Another question...are you running a rekluse in that bike? I am thinking about it and didnt know if you were running one. my brother is looking for a 400EX frame too, if you know anyone that has one. He is going to have it gusseted and PC'd......but were having a hard time finding a frame, and dont want to buy a new one. well time to get back to work :-/, I'll catch up with ya later! Mike

like everyone has already said, they are both great bikes
lots of pros have switched to the 450R recently, but the YFZ is still a great bike. Go with whatever brand you prefer and you will be happy. They are outstanding quads that are only made better with this healthy competition between the two.
