Looking good bro! I thinking mines getting ready to go through another makeover as well....XC style. im sure it needs it up there. hope to see you at durhamtown Yes it does...nothing like Fla. where you can get away with the lower stance even in the woods....doesn't take long up here to smash a sprocket or brake rotor in the rocks. I am keeping the w/e open for it. Yall just keep m updated to what you are going to do.

I was telling scooter about these tires. There made by Duro and theres a store on eBay where you can buy them for $54. bucks apiece. Size is 18x11x8. Looks like a Hooiser to me but I really dont know about them cause I`ve never used them.
those tires work great! my friend has them and he uses them for all terrain! they even work great in sugar sand! they also last a long time!!! Yea they do work great only problem with them is they are heavy as lead. I tried a set for asphalt racing and they just bogged the motor down to much on the top end which I don't think would be a good thing for FT racing. They're now on the Blaster. Scooter I'd stick to the AR or Hoosier tires if it was me....that's what I am using on asphalt now.

Porting usually runs a couple 100 bucks...by itself won't make a heck of a lot of difference but along with a good cam, exhaust and maybe a piston.....then your talking a good bit of power...maybe around 10hp increase over stock. Give or take.

Are there any problems with really modded 400's overheating when ridden hard? It can get hot here in the summer, and if you're in the mud, forget about it.
Not sure how modded you mean but I have never had a problem with mine overheating. in the bigger bores though yes it will produce some heat problems due to the very thin cylinder walls. As far as the sprocket goes the 16 tooth will give you more top end with a little smoother acceleration while a 14 tooth will give you a little harder accl. but lose some top end. Also with the 16 you can't run a case guard which isn't a great idea. You can also look into a rev box that get's the limiter up around 10K rpm....like a TC or Dyna but you will need some mods to get the motor to pull those kinda rpm's in the higher gears Like p&p, cam and pipe should well do it. I run the 14 tooth with 18" tires and can still hit 70+ mph in 5th just to give you an idea.

Listen to what Ida and Billl are saying they are both knowledgeable on the subject. The 416 or 406 can make plenty of power and still be reliable. Stay away from the 500cc bore/stroke combo's there are a lot of problems that go along with them. Only way to build a reliable big bore in a 400ex is to fork out the big bucks for a Duncan PC4000 billet cylinder. It elimates all the problems w/ stock of pulling the head studs from the constant heat and most of the overheating issues since you have a lot of extra cylinder wall.

Both are good quads it just depends on what you are looking for. The Z has a little more power out of the box, and a bit better susp so it would be a bit better for trail riding and cooler in the heat due to being liquid cooled. But that is just more parts to maintain and break especially if you have any thoughts of taking it in the mud. The EX is all around a simple design and a tried and true reliable quad with very little maintance. The EX can be found cheaper and you can spend the extra money on perf./susp. upgrades that would make it well outperform the Z. There is a large aftermarket following for both so parts is not an issue. Just kinda comes down to weather or not you want something that is good to go stock or if you want something to build on.

Lastly here's a short video we got of me and one of the guys tearing it up. This was about 3 laps into us running around and you'll notice toward the end I just give out and wave him by....I went back in and rested. When I came back out he was still on the track and runnin just as hard.

Met a couple nice woods racers out at the track. Had a great time racing around the track with them...dang they had some endurance though.I promise you these guys would go out and do 20 or more laps at a time b4 they pulled off to rest....true conditioning.
