Concerning the neighbors:
I was leaving yesterday afternoon and a trailer and RV had gotten stuck in the soft sand while letting another truck pass. The friendly truck stopped to help the trailer and RV. While all of this was going on, the pesky neighbors decided to come out and test out there detective photography skills. Just a heads up, they were taking pictures of us. I was pulled off to the side of the road to get out of my truck to see if i could help(the RV was blocking the road while they were getting it unstuck, and they did get it out no problem with the very helpful person with the truck). So yes, the guy took a nice pic of me and my truck and all the other vehicles. So just a heads up! I wanted to go up and ask why he was taking my pic just to see what he would say, but he's a lot bigger then me. lol. Anyways......hope they don't cause anymore trouble. This weekend was awesome! Having all those quads there saturday was GREAT. I hope we have a record turn out next weekend! :-D

Hmmm...may be some people don't get the basics of business and making a profit....ha ha ha .............May be if you look at my earlier post.........I can't really break it down anymore. lol. The thing is.....whether 50 entries show up this weekend or 170 entries show up, the track will have the same fixed costs!! Ambulance, flaggers, port-a-potties, trash cans, extra personnel, and concession stand(*cough cough* track usually doesn't pay for that because it's someone else coming in and making money :-) ) I don't think L-Cross is going to rush in some extra port-a-potties if more then 60 entries show up HA HA HA. But who knows, charging that per person plus practice....they may have some on call :-). If you understand what I'm saying here, it's pretty basic. Whether the track has 50 entries or over 170 entries, their fixed expenses will be the same!!!!!!!! Only thing I can see changing is more people=more trash so may be a little more money on trash pick up. No matter what, it costs the same to get the port-a-potties rotated out, cleaned out, etc. There will be the same amount of flaggers and an ambulance or paramedic if they're not so cheap they don't pay a medical guy to be out there for us :-) (which is a big No No not to have some type of emergency help there). Again, go ahead call us WHINERS or CHEAP or the more money you have the faster you will be (HA HA HA, it's who gets over the finish line first though the extra $$$ does give you a nice push) or super rich racers that like wasting our money (wealthy people don't squander money)or whatever other name you want to say..............but if you look at the basics of it.....it doesn't make sense for you to argue for the $30 gate fee. That equipment you speak of, wasn't just purchased for this weekend. And as for the use of real estate issue.......it is in the middle of nowhere! They are a business and smart....running a track while sitting on a real estate investment! All that surround those lands are small towns and sod farms for now. They are pleasing guests by being gracious and letting us pay to enjoy their land, but it is a business. But I’m done repeating myself.....if you don't get it...read my earlier posts. The track will lose money and business by charging that gate fee. Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend :-)....and the rain holds off....

I understand what everyone is saying and I appreciate all the support from the tracks in Florida. And I know any competitive event, especially a motocross race is costly in both time and money! BUT....please read my earlier post...they are only hurting themselves by charging that much. So they go to all the trouble to put on a race, charge $30 for a gate fee, and make half as much revenue....which means smaller profit!!!!!!! People going there to race the MX track and not play in the mud or watch a concert should not have to pay the more expensive gate fee....it doesn't makes sense and it will hurt them on entries. And you can also look at the fact that the people watching the concerts and playing in the mud.....don't pay an extra $20 on top of the $30 to play in the mud or watch a concert. The racers practicing on Saturday will essentially be paying $50 to practice! Yes we can hope people will show up to race because we need more entries..........you also have to think what time of the year it is. IT"S THE HOLIDAYS and Christmas......if you have a family with a mom and a dad and two kids (may be only one is racing) that's $120 in gate fees!!!! Which is $40 more than the average track. I hope we do have at least 60 entries this weekend . But the gate fee is going to be turning a lot of racers away when its Christmas time and not to mention crazy gas prices these days and the cost to even race quads! Sorry to go on a rant and I don’t mean to be stepping on toes here.........but if you think about this from a strictly business aspect......they are only hurting themselves. If you think of it from a riders perspective, you either miss a race or spend that extra money for something you’re not even doing (concert and mudding) I wish L-Cross would reconsider.......170 entries would be AT LEAST $1,810 more money coming in this weekend verses the 53 entries from last time.

Yes more entries are great. But how are you supposed to get more entries charging that gate fee? If they want more entries they should lower the gate fee for the people that are just utilizing the MX area. It's a simple way to encourage more people to come enjoy their MX track for a race. Lower gate fee=more riders=more money. If they looked at the numbers they would realize this.........53 entries at $30 a head is $1590. Ok now 170 riders at $20= $3400..not to mention the friends and family that are going to be charged gate fees which is even more revenue. Riders will appreciate the break and return and again more business=more money. .......If they look at the numbers they'd realize they are only hurting themselves by charging that much to racers that are just using the MX track!!!!!!
53 entries at $30 each= $1590
170 entries at $20 each=$3400
do the math.........common L-Cross....you're only hurting your own income and losing potential return customers...........

The people that will show up at this track are MOTOCROSS PEOPLE......this track is a PREMIER motocross track. If you ride MX that is the going rate at any track. Not to mention the track is 1st rate and one of the best in Florida. I don't think Amp Xtreme is trying to turn into L-cross or any other partying or woods four wheeler camping location that happens to have an MX track. Amp is working hard to get knowledgeable input and have a great motocross facility. Keep up the good Work Amp XTreme!!! :-D I hope we have some quads for tomorrows race!

There is a monster truck show at the UCF arena next saturday. They are having an amatuer and a pro class with 200% pay back. It is a flat track style race and you'd be racing on concrete. I just signed up and have a few other people I know that are probably racing. The guy says he only has 6 quads so far........so i hope some more of you guys decide to sign up!!!! The qualifing races start at 2 pm and the LCQ and finals are at the 7:30 show. The number to call to sign up is : 940-683-4742. $20 entry for am. classes and $40 for pro.
On bare concrete or do they have clay spread over it? It is going to be on Cola coated concrete. It is going to be held inside the new UCF Arena.

The Florida rider who did the best in WPSA for 2007...... Josh Williams out of Okeechobee, FLorida placed the best out of all the Florida riders in the WPSA Pro Am class. Josh finished the year in top 5 for WPSA Pro Am class!!! He also placed in the top 5 in the WPSA 16-24 class for the year in 2007. He was the only florida rider to place in the top 10 in WPSA Pro Am or the WPSA 16-24 class this year!! We do have some of the fastest riders in the nation from Florida and every one of them has amazing talent and potential to go as far as they want in this sport

We don't have enough quads to do that yet!!! The WPSA and ATVA are both doing GREAT things for the sport. Give it time, it doesn't happen over night. The PR and coverage at the WPSA's is great and it is a great national series. I think next year is going to have some huge surprises! Including at least 4 different sets of Semi's for the 4 different factory teams. Give it time. When it gets as big as the dirt bikes, i'm sure we will have the same set up or something close to what the amateur series has for the dirt bikes. But for now the amateur guys should take advantage of the big players being at there races at the WPSA and ATVA series. The support is growing HUGE at these races and is a great thing for the amateur riders. But i will say it sucks the distance of all the races and the price of gas now a days. WPSA venues haven't been announced yet, but I doubt they are going to have that many races down in the south

They did WAY better on not having as many overlaps this year, but WPSA's schedule has been announced since the Banquet at the last stop in NJ. ATVA and AMA had plenty of time to look over WPSA's scehdule and work accordingly. The factory guys are going to be beat with all those back to back races!!! Hope their bodies and the bikes can make it through the whole year......
Below is WPSA's Schedule:
2008 WPSA Racing Schedule
May 3-4 May 17-18 May 31-June 1 June 7-8 June 28-29 July 19-20 Aug 16-17 Aug 23-24
..Thank you WPSA for making all your races after my spring semester for college is out for the summer!!! he he he :-D

2008 AMA Pro ATV Championship & Amateur National MX Schedule Announced AMA Racing and ATVA in association with the ATVPG are proud to announce the 2008 schedule for the ITP/Moose Racing AMA/ATVA National Motocross Championships Presented by Parts Unlimited. The AMA Pro ATV Motocross Championship will feature an 11-round series beginning March 8-9 at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif. Southern California is home to many ATV teams and manufacturers, so the hometown event promises an exciting launch for the series. The ATVA Amateur National Motocross Championship will feature a 10-round series, kicking off March 29-30 at Mill Creek MX in Pell City, Ala., in conjunction with round 2 of the AMA Pro ATV series. From there the two series will converge for the remainder of the season. A new venue joins the ranks as the series migrates in July to Pleasure Valley Raceway in Armagh, Pa. This one-mile track is a technical mix of clay, topsoil and sawdust, with large elevation changes. Produced by Cernic’s Racing, the event promises an ATV-friendly atmosphere. The grand finale will take place in the backyard of country music legend Loretta Lynn and her renowned Hurricane Mills track. Also new for 2008, the annual ATVA Awards Banquet will be held at the Ranch after the final checkered flag of the season has flown. But there’s more racing to come. AMA Pro ATV riders return to Steel City Raceway on Labor Day weekend for the 2nd Annual AMA Pro ATV Open Invitational. The stand-alone event will feature the top 20 AMA Pro ATV riders as they share the national race track with the motorcycle pro riders for the Steel City round of the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF. The 2008 ITP/Moose AMA/ATVA National Motocross Championship schedule: DATE VENUE LOCATION Mar 8/9 Glen Helen Raceway Park San Bernardino, CA (AMA Pro round only) Mar 29/30 Mill Creek MX Pell City, AL Apr 12/13 Ballance MX Bowling Green, KY Apr 26/27 Birch Creek Motorsports Danville, VA May 10/11 Sunset Ridge MX Walnut, IL May 24/25 High Point Raceway Mt. Morris, PA June 7/8 Unadilla Valley Sports Center New Berlin, NY June 21/22 Muddy Creek Raceway Blountville, TN July 12/13 Pleasure Valley Raceway Armaugh, PA July 26/27 Red Bud Track & Trail Buchanan, MI Aug 9/10 Loretta Lynn’s Ranch Hurricane Mills, TN Aug 30 Steel City Raceway Delmont, PA AMA ATV Open Invitational (Non AMA points paying event) So it's sad and it sucks that the closest race to Florida is Pell City (about9-10 hour drive)!!! They took away Gator Back and now no more Georgia ...........

The age classes aren't the only classes that don't have younger riders in them. There is the women's class. I do understand your position, as I have an upcoming young rider.
I would like to point out a couple of things. You've got to look at this whole thing from a different perspective. Yes, safety is huge. And is on the top of everyone's mind. But, we are in a catch 22. Without the "numbers" (which means $$ to the track) we can't get the better, bigger tracks to even look at opening the gates for us. Without the tracks, we can't get the numbers - so what do you do? We don't have the "numbers" yet to support AMA type rules. Especially when we have local tracks, with a lot of riders, not enforcing the same AMA type rules. So, we'll grow this series from the local track level up as safely as we can and in baby steps. It's a constant battle and hopefully, we'll be able to move toward classes like AMA one day as our numbers continue to grow.
Next, I'd like to say, you can be part of the problem or part of the solution. If it concerns you that tech wasn't conducted at this race (which this is the only one that it hasn't) then get involved in the series and step up. We can always use help. It's up to us quad racers to make this thing work to get to the numbers we need to get (and KEEP) the big tracks on our schedule. Even if you don't want to race, come out and support the series at practice.
Yolonda
WELL my Son IS 14 and RIDES an ltr450 and has ridden a 450 since he was 12, has NEVER CRASHED ANYONE! So I do not feel he is no more of a danger than anyone else. It is unfair to judge a RIDER by HIS age and not his capabilities. SSQSA has looked into this issue thoroughly, and I feel that they have made the right decision, and are using guidelines to base the individuals qualification to control their atv. I know some adults with less abilities than some of the youths at our local track. In fact my son, at 14 is in the points lead for his division C, and it has been suggested that he be in B, yet I felt he needed to finish out the year in C. The top three in his class are under 16; the top three in B class are under 18; and yeah the top one in A class is 17. My question to you is why is it ok for someone under 16 to ride a 450 dirt bike, yet not a 450 quad? If I recall correctly, the only people who did crash this past weekend were 18.
OK! I didn't mean to piss anyone off here but apparently you all are taken what I said the wrong way. I never said anything about riders having to be 17 or 18!??!?! And No, tech inspections have not been performed at EVERY race this season or last season. once you start putting safety on the back burner....that is no way to help a series grow. And I said the series needed help...I know it needs to grow. And I'd be willing to volunteer to help! And I didn't say anything about enforcing ATVA, WPSA, or AMA rules. If we were doing that, we would be running production classes and lose 50% of the riders running non-production bikes! Further more...I think many of the young kids on 450's are more then capable of riding them!!! If you look at the SEquads rules I was speaking of...no where does it say every class is 16+! But it also does not leave a broad rule of "if the rider looks capable". Who is to say that? I know kids that you would think could never throw around a 450....but do it better then most 17 and 18 year olds! By implementing clear cut rules you eliminate that question. Also, if the parents of kids who SHOULD NOT be on big bikes dont take that responsibility it is putting everyone else in that class in danger! And the ony way to MAKE SURE you are not running with kids on big bikes is to run the age class! They do NOT enforce the womens rule of 16+. I remeber when I used to have to bring 2 forms of ID to prove my age for womens class at other sanctioned races......but SSQSA does not enforce an age in the womens class! But i'm sure this post is going to get more parents pissed off then seeing what i'm saying. I just hope this series continues to grow, but safety does not get put on the side line.

[/quote] I thought that the track was awsome myself. The folks who put the track together, and the guys that run the SSQSA are definately doing quite a good job. I talked to someone from the team, but i forgot his name and it was briefly. I brought a couple things to attention. This was my first SSQSA race this season, seeing i moved here from CT to attend MMI here in Orlando. I had some bike issues through the summer but i think she is good now. Its hard riding/racing on the college budget with bills and crap let me tell you. But besides that fact, i talked and mentioned that i heard there are a few "kids" running the big boys class. I heard number 13, on the black/black honda was only 12,13,or 14 years old riding a 450, actually a 490. Hats off to him for being able to run it, but i didn't see very much control and yea he did whoop my butt. He ended up passing me because he was knocking on my door and i felt actually threatened by him, because i felt he was alittle wild. Im not trying to start any fights here by any means. Maybe there was some in other classes idk. Like i said, im new to your community of riders.
I'd have to agree with you on a 12-15 year old being on a 450cc+ bike. I've gotten in a very bad accident due to racing a 14 year old on a 450. The only way to stay away from the younings on the big bikes is to run the age class . Which in my opinion isn't the answer. I think the series is growing, but I think a few things would help it. I beleive safety should be a top concern. Tech inspections aren't even being performed anymore at the races. Here is the official "rules" from SSQSA website ** 16 years of age is recommended for all persons riding the A, B, C, Women, Stock, and 2 Stroke classes. However, under the discretion of the tech inspection director, a rider that is 14 or 15 may participate in these classes if they can show the following: a) Must be able to turn the handlebars in both directions while seated and keep their hands on the bars. b) While standing their must be 4 inches between the seat and the body of the rider. c) Must appear to have the strength and size to handle the machine. I think these are a little vauge and don't justify every young fast kid to be on a big bike. Don't get me wrong...there's young guys out there that have been riding for awhile and deffinately know how to handle the big bike! But may be SSQSA can take something from our neighboring SEQuads series....this is what their rules say about kids under 16 on big bikes...... Expert: Riders must be 16 years or older to participate in this class. A: no restrictions on quad, rider must be 16 years of age or older B: no restrictions on quad, rider must be 15 years of age or older C: no restrictions on quad, rider must be 14 years of age or older Sorry for the long drawn out response....just wanted to share all that stuff. I don't want to tick anyone off, just my opinion. I think the series is growing and it needs all the help it can get. ~Em~
