1  General / Where to Ride? / Re: If you want to continue to ride in FLORIDA on: January 02, 2014, 10:51:06 PM
Just signed it too. I will never understand Florida state, county and city government.  They don't want us riding on public land or private land illegally.  Then when people try to be in the business of offering a place to ride and they make impossible for those places to stay open.

I am so sick of this state catering to old farts, golf courses, housing and commercial developments.
2  General / Open Discussion / Re: Scott Kalitta on: June 22, 2008, 10:48:48 PM
I used to follow drag racing pretty close years ago.  the sport lost a great person.

Sorry for the loss of your friend. God be with you and his family.

Most of you have probably heard. Scott Kalitta was killed yesterday at Old Bridge Raceway in New Jersey. Horrible wreck.

His wife, Kathy and his sons, Colin and Cory could use all the prayers you can give. Scott was a long time close friend of mine. I am proud to have known him both professionally and personally. He was a great guy, a good friend and an awesome family man. Godspeed Scott.

That's cool!!!  Glad you had fun.  You made it through your first race.  Enjoy the pain of victory.  Grin

I'm very proud of myself!!  It was my first race, and I did it on a Banshee!!

Here's a vid of me going thru some deep water by the finish line.  The person in front of me was going thru the rocks to avoid the water, which is what most everyone was doing.  I was like, "Ah, screw it!" "I can make it!"  From what I hear, a few people got stuck there.  To hear the people cheering when I went thru it, felt awesome!!  Thanks, everyone.

I had a great time!!  I'm paying for it today, and probably tomorrow, and the next day, but it was fun!

Thanks, Kenz.  I'M STILL IN PAIN!!  MY WHOLE RIGHT SIDE HURTS MORE THAN MY LEFT.  WHAT THE...Huh

The second day is usually the worst, then in gets better.

I got around like an old man at work today.  Everytime I sat down for a while and  went to get back up everything was tight again.
Don't think there isn't a muscle that doesn't hurt today.  Ahh, the price of fun. Grin

Another DNF for me Cry. I dont understand why my rag wont finish a race this year. I was running pretty good until my bike starting cutting out on my 4th lap and it finally died and wouldnt restart. I'm still so pizzed that its sitting in the trailer dirty and I dont know whats wrong with it yet. I dont know who won yet but I'm assuming Ken did if he kept  up his pace and didnt have any problems, he was running strong.

Matt, that sucks it broke down.  I kept waiting for the rest of the class to start passing me at any time.  Brian Vis saw you catching up to me at one point.  Said he went to another part to course to see if you made the pass but you never went by.  He went looking for you but didn't find you.

My quad just died, like the kill switch got pulled at about the 4 mile mark  on the last lap.  Kenneth blew by as I was trying to see what went wrong.  Hit the starter and it fired right back up, It was too late, he was cruising, I couldn't even catch up to his dust.

That's racing for ya! What a blast!! Grin

Congrats getting 1st place, Kenneth!! Clapper Clapper  Thumbs Up
6  General / Tech Corner / Re: Eiger Electrical Issue on: March 24, 2008, 06:38:22 PM
Just noticed your post.  My Dad has an Eiger.  Not that helps you any.  Get a shop manual for it.  The complete electrical schematic is in the book.  It will also help you work on any future problems should they arise.

The book is $60 bucks but that beats $80/hr shop labor rates.

We helped out CFQR yesterday to finish up.

It is going to be a fun course.

Hope to see everyone there.

Ok, let's try it again:

Neal:  Where are your hands?

Dell:    Between two pillows.

Neal:  Those aren't pillows!!

movie?

dumb & dumber??

Nope,  Planes, Trains and Automobiles.  John Candy and Steve Martin.

2 More from a different Steve Martin movie:

Ruprecht, do you want the genital cuff?

Freddy Benson: I didn't steal any money! She just saw me with another woman! You're French, you understand that!
Inspector Andre: To be with another woman, that is French. To be caught, that is American.

I've out on the property a few weeks ago helping SADRA.  It is a cool piece of land. It will definitely be a fun time.
11  General / Racing Scene / Re: QS 6 videos on: January 14, 2008, 08:27:41 PM
I was suprised too that you weren't there, Frank.

Reading your post I see why.  That really blows.  Glad you can get it together for the GNCC.  See you there!!

Hey Predatorracer8 thanks for taking the time to upload the videos.  You got some good shots.
12  General / Racing Scene / Re: Reflections of a First Time QS Racer! on: January 14, 2008, 08:12:15 PM
Sounds like my first race. I started out in the 0-400C class last season.
I made the first lap and had to pull over to catch my breath and wait for the feeling of wanting to vomit to go away.  I made it through 4 laps though with 3 seconds before timing out.  I was so sore the next day I could barely get out of bed.

I was hooked though and couldn't wait for the next race to do it all over again.  What's cool is that you kind of know what to expect now, but every course will pose a challenge that will test you differently from the last.

Hope you can make it to more events in the future.  If you really want a challenge do the first round of the GNCC that is in Melbourne this year.  That's a whole other level of competition even for the AM amature race.
13  General / Racing Scene / Re: Quadscramble Jan. 12th on: January 04, 2008, 01:15:49 PM
Of course I do, Mark. I havent been able to ride at all do to my procedure(vasectomy). Just getting fat and sitting on my azz over the holidays. I hope to try and ride this weekend and get ready for the race.

Matt, you got no balls anymore???  Man, I might actually be able to catch up to you now??!! Grin Grin Grin

In all seriousness that doesn't sound like fun.  Hope you're all healed up and ready to do some racing.

As far as the water crossing they aren't bad.  They aren't deep enough to drown out a bike, the one that could, has a cool crossing.

Jen, you go girl!!! Yup! Yup! Yup!

15  General / Racing Scene / Re: i need to go faster. on: January 01, 2008, 06:19:06 PM
I happened to think about somebody recommending a pipe and jet kit.  Even if you are going to run a stock pipe, it might be a good idea to see how the jetting is.  They usually get it close at the factory, but it can be off and the ecceleration may not be as crisp as it should be.

Jets are cheap too.  You just have to take the time and patience to get it dialed in right.

16  General / Racing Scene / Re: i need to go faster. on: December 31, 2007, 03:58:33 PM
If the 13 tooth in the front is smaller than stock, also go up a tooth on the rear sprocket.  A Polaris and Suzuki are diffent machines no doubt. Dropping a tooth on the front and going up a tooth on the rear makes a big diffence getting out of the hole on the Suzuki.  A different rear sprocket is a cheap experiment to try.

In your sig it says you have Fox suspension if you haven't done so take the time to set it properly, check out their website for tuning recomendations.  Also, try calling their tech department to see what you can get of them.
17  General / Racing Scene / Re: has anybody ever ported a head on here? on: December 31, 2007, 03:51:05 PM

Forget about porting the head.  Save up to have GT Thunder work your suspension.  It is a night and day difference.
18  General / Racing Scene / Re: First Race! Anything I should know? on: December 31, 2007, 03:33:13 PM
I've helped do the tech inspection at a few of the races.  No spark arrestor and you'll get sent back to the trailer.  Bikes get checked at practice and at a couple races there have been random checks on the line.

If your pipe is loud because of a lot of hours on it, try repacking it.  Technically, the limit is 96 +/- 1.5 DB.  If you show up with a loud pipe for the first race you'll be allowed to run, by the next race you'll be expected to be with in the limit.

If you need a new silencer there are a lot of quiet pipes out there that meet or have a sound output much lower than the limit.

Very cool to see some new people interested in quad racing!

For you first timers get ready for a lot of fun.  See you out there.
19  General / Racing Scene / Re: First Race! Anything I should know? on: December 30, 2007, 05:36:29 PM
Don't be afraid to ask any questions on the forum or at the races.  Everyone is very friendly and will help you out.

Picking Myakka will be a great first race to attend.  There have been several races on that property and everyone of them has been a blast.

Racing is so much fun.  Once you do it you'll be hooked.

Since it's your first time racing at sign up you'll need to purchase a transponder and join FTR.  The transponder is $20 and FTR membership for a year is $50.

It's a little bit to spend initially but after that it is just the entry fee for each race.  It is well worth the money.

As far as equipment goes you'll definitely need a full face helmet, goggles, gloves, jersey, long pants or riding pants and boots.

For your bike, if you don't have them already nerf bars are a good idea but not required.

You are required to have a tether kill switch and 2 number plates.  One to mount on the front and one for the back.

Bring numbers or tape with you that stands out on your plates that you can use to make numbers.  If you decide you like it you can get fancy numbers made up.

If you have a number in mind at the sign up trailer they can tell you if it's available.

Check out the FTR  site and rule book.

See you in Myakka.

20  General / Open Discussion / Re: Anyone have a 5.9l cummins dodge 2500? (I6) on: December 24, 2007, 10:39:21 AM
I've got a 2006 3500 Quad cab long bed 4x4.  I love that Cummins.  I got it used with 47,000 on it.
Overall it has been a great truck.
I've only had one issue with it.   The fuel tube going from the rail to the #4 injector cracked about a month ago.  That sucked, it spewed fuel every where.  When I shut the engine off it siphoned air into the fuel system and it wouldn't start back up so I had to have it towed to the dealer.  It got fixed under warranty.  Thank god for the 100,000 mile warranty.

After driving a diesel, it would be really hard to go back to a gas truck.  You're going to enjoy it!!

21  General / Open Discussion / Re: check this old 250r out on cl on: December 21, 2007, 10:03:53 PM
Excellent condition???

That is one ragged hunk of S#!t.  Probably been sitting under a tarp like the rest of the stuff in the picture.  Rear tires are bald.  Fugly aftermarket plastic. Twist throttle, and where did he get the headlight?  Not even the 1981 ATC 250r had a round headlight.

I don't mean to be so critical but when the title says in Excellent condition and somebody didn't know any better.

I'd like to see pictures of what he describes as "runs good" or "needs a little work".  Grin
22  General / Racing Scene / Re: QS #6 January 12th Myakka City on: December 21, 2007, 07:47:04 PM
This is going to be a fun race for sure.

We were out on the property last weekend and found places to make new trail.  There will be alot of new trail and some new areas that couldn't be used before because they were too wet.  As long as we don't get a lot of rain we'll be good.  Even if we can't use those areas there will still be lots of new stuff.

We are also doing a water crossing that will be very different.

You will not want to miss this one!!

Stay tuned.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

23  General / Racing Scene / Re: Thanks Big Scrub for Quad Scramble #5 - It was a blast!! on: December 02, 2007, 03:56:56 PM
Anybody know who Number 6 was that dominated the A class on the yellow Suzuki?  He was flying.

Not sure who that was, but flying is about right.  He lapped me on one of those big tabletops.  I heard somebody behind me coming hard so I moved over.  I saw something out of the corner of my eye.  He passed me on the left about what looked like 10 feet over my head.

It's action like that you wish you had helmet cam.  Pretty cool!!

24  General / Racing Scene / Thanks Big Scrub for Quad Scramble #5 - It was a blast!! on: December 02, 2007, 10:40:27 AM
That course was a blast.  That has to go down as being one of the most fun to ride courses.  The MX track was a lot fun, nice and wide for plenty of room. I don't have the guts to clear the big jumps they have there though.  There wasn't a whole lot of woods but sure made good use of the woods and trails that were there. Those hills -for Florida- were a fun to blast up and down; we don't get to do a whole lot of that in the flat lands.

A huge thanks to Big Scrub!!!  Ya'll did a heck of a job.  Thanks for putting on a great Quad Scramble!!  Hope you will be willing/able to to do another one next season.

You drift it, baby!!  Grin
