Been wanting to go to dirty foot adventures but it looks like it's closed. Looking for somewhere south of life form for a day trip with the new Ranger.  Onf it's a little too far for a day trip so that's going to have to wait to we have some time to camp. Anyone have any suggestions?

Don’t give up on Dirty Foot Adventures.  It’s true the trails are closed at this time but they are working hard to get the trails and campgrounds open.  Last I heard they hope to have them open sometime in July.

They are putting in 40 RV hookups with electric, water and sewer. and bath rooms.

At this time they do have the MX Track, Drag strip, and obstacle course open with a few acres of open land to ride in..

9  General / Racing Scene / Re: HS #11 Ona Feb 19th & 20th on: February 16, 2011, 10:02:14 AM
Fun Run Sat. Nite
Sign up 3:00-5:00 No entries after 5:00
Must have armband
Must be on a full size quad or bike (No side by sides, peewee's,or golf carts)
No adult beverages
$10 entry

First rider out at 5:15 sharp
Run ends at 6:00

This is an oppertunity for our Moms and Dads, inexperienced riders, and first timers to experience what a H/S course looks like. It also gives you Sunday riders a chance to look at the course. This is not a race, but will be a nice easy lap to enjoy the surroundings of the course.
Each rider will be required to wear a helmet,long pants, eye protection and some kind of boot . No tennis shoes, flip flops or toeless shoes. I know this sounds silly, but if we don't cover it, somebody will show up in shorts and flip flops.
We want everyone to have a good time and not have anybody get hurt, therefore I will repeat, NO RACING, AGGRESIVE RIDING! We will have the right to pull you off and escort you back to the pits.

Fun Run will be led by a club official and we will have a clean up rider. Everyone will be off the course by 6:00, no exceptions. We will be making changes to course to get ready for Sunday, we have to be done and off the course in order to do that.
Thanking you in advance for your cooperation,

Sadra

13  General / Where to Ride? / Re: where to ride in northport area on: August 28, 2010, 11:58:50 AM
Im closer than ever!!!!   I should know before Friday if I can lease a parcel for one way marked wooded trails. You gotta be persistant!!!!!!!!    So many people on this site think rallies,protest,and complaining is gonna solve the problem and it does nothing.  I know you guys (npora) have tried.   I will tell you its worth it!!!   for me anyways.   Im gonna take this all the way to whatever gov. official I have to, if necessary.  PERSISTANCE!!! PERSISTANCE!!PERSISTANCE!!!    DONT GIVE UP!!!!

I know you have been staying the course.....there is just no enough public land in our county that would qualify for OHV use.
We did get some positive response from the DOF about the possibility of one way marked trails (for a fee) for a portion of the year in the Myakka State Forest. So we haven't given up.

14  General / Where to Ride? / Re: where to ride in northport area on: August 24, 2010, 06:01:08 PM
has anyone in northport area ever considered going to their local officials and maybe even looking for a piece of property to lease and setting up an off-road vehicle area???  I know of a guy that was involved that lived in northport but dont know how far he got?   you guys over their have enough land to aleast have a chance to do an area!       I would try to find a small parcel  50-100 acres to lease.  If you stick with it im sure you'll find something!!!

come on Jose..........you know me and the NPORA group, we have fighting for OHV rights in SW FL for many many many years with the same results you are getting in Miami Dade.

NP is no different than the Humps, Bonita, Cook/Brown, or 5A its all private property

As i said before there is no LEGAL spots in NP to ride.   If ya wanna take a shot I cant stop ya but NPPD can. The fines are heavy

1 time= warning ticket
2=fine $100.00
3=fine $500.00
4=Impound of your machine

Ride On

FTR HS #14 at Bartow - May 8-9, 2010

The Peewee track will be in the same area that we used at the Sunrunners HS in November. The Peewees will be able to ride there in the afternoon after their races are over IF they are supervised by their parents. The track is laid out under the oak trees and it is a great place to watch the kids.

Saturday's course will be about 6.5 miles long. About 4 miles of it is brand new trail. Wherever we have used trail from our previous event we have taken a skidsteer and a mixer/grinder to loosen and resurface the trail. There will be elevation changes. There will be no sandy whoops - no palmetto roots. The fast guys should be able to turn laps in the 16-18 minute range.

There will be a fun run that starts about 6PM. It will be run like a poker run. Everybody will get to make 3 laps around a 3-mile course. We cannot use more of the track since our crews will be out re-routing/re-arrowing the course to switch it over to Sunday's course. The prize for the winner of the poker run will be free ticket to the FTR banquet in August.

Sunday’s course is about 11 miles long. It heads west and south out of the camping area so you will be riding some interesting terrain, wind through some planted pines and the cowpens, skirt Sand Lake and Mud Lake, and work your way back to the camping area. A lot of new trail has been cut using a powered mulcher, and a grinder/mixer has been used on any trail that we have used before. It uses only short sections of Saturday's course. It will not be a pasture race. We expect 25-minute lap times.

It will be typical mid-May weather so start hydrating now. Be sure to hydrate before and during the race.

We always are asked how many trophies are you giving out this weekend? The answer is about 200. That is a lot of trophies - you do the math. If we get 500 riders that averages about 1 trophy per every 2.5 riders. We are not going cheap on the number of trophies.

We are looking for volunteers to help us this weekend.

21  General / Racing Scene / Re: HS #13 SEFTR-Okeechobee March 27th/28th on: March 31, 2010, 03:38:54 PM
Anyway of bringing this type of event farther south florida like Lcross or farther south even? We have more than 50000+ registered off-road vehicles from key west to palm beach and this type of event could  expose many more people to this type of fun.I have been to some events in the past and it is truly great family fun. Its a shame this only seems to be prevelent north of Lake Okeechobee.

All you need is 800 to 1200 acres of land with wooded areas
and a willing land owner and Im sure one of the south clubs would put on an event.

The biggest challange with hosting on of these races is the land and as we all know the further south you go the less "usable"and we have to work with.

Thanks Brian for doing this for the SSQSA Members.  I hate that we have not been able to get our XC series running strong but figured if we could do something for them to help that would be great.  By the way, If I am correct this FTR membership is good for next year correct?
