1  General / Open Discussion / Re: Durhamtown Thanksgiving on: November 17, 2006, 06:11:07 AM
Smiley I'm 48 years old and I can't believe I'm getting all worked up about going to Durhamtown. I feel like a kid just before Christmas. I got an email from them this week and they said the Freestyle riding team would be there to put on a show Thanksgiving weekend. That will be cool to watch. There seems to be so many people rom Florida going next weekend. I wish there was some way we could all meet up. I would hate to walk around to everybody there and ask,  where are you from?  We have a husband and wife couple going with us from Manderin who have never been before. I hope we haven't hyped it up to much for them. They will be riding lime green KFX 700's and I ride a Polaris 700. My wife will be on her Polaris 330 Trailboss. It's yellow and black, she calls it the Bumblebee. My son will be on a 350 rancher. If you see us say Hi.
2  General / Open Discussion / The truth is! on: October 21, 2006, 07:34:07 AM
Ya know I've been riding dirt bikes and atv's pretty much all my life. There was a few years there when I got into horses pretty heavy. (found out you have to keep fuel in there tank 24/7) But now i'm back to riding quads. I meet some pretty nice people almost every weekend when my wife and me and my kids go out to ride. I read all of these posts on here about not abusing lands that were allowed to ride on. About how we shouldn't cut fences to ride on land that belongs to farmers. About how we need to teach our youth to ride more responsibly to keep accidents down to an absolute minimum. I completley agree. 100%  The Truth Is!!! the people who do all these bad things will probabley never take the time to read one of these forums. They won't be bothered with cleaning up after themselves instead of leaving trash all over the riding area. I would say that 99.9% of those types don't even know or care that there is a new law concerning dirt roads. There going to ride where they want laws or not! People like this will be the ultimate demise of atving in our state.  I would like to say thank you to the good folks who produce atfflorida.com and to the responsible sportsmen and women who use this vehicle to inform, educate and entertain. As for the blockheads that cause all the trouble, well there not going to take the time to read this anyway so no sense in me wasting good trash talk.
(It's hard but It's fair, we sent them to school but they wouldn't stay there!!!)

I ride Osceola alot because I live close. I also like tight woods with no whoops. I hate whoops!!!
But my favorite place of all is DURHAMTOWN!!!

I'd love to do some woods type racing on my 700 Polaris. Maybe enduro style or something like that. I'm not sure whats available out there so if someone can hook me up I'd really appreciate it.
6  General / Open Discussion / 1st. trip to Durhamtown!!! on: September 08, 2006, 08:16:55 AM
I took my family to Durhamtown for the Labor Day weekend. I fell in love. Well,  not at first. When we first got there we were a little suprised to see so many people. I thought that the trails would be swamped with traffic. Not so, there were people out there but not in your way or rude or anything I expected. The ones who chose the slower speeds would very kindly move over for you. It was very nice. The Durhamtown staff went out of there way to be as helpful as they could. The only thing that I was a little unhappy about at first was the trail markers. I couldn't make heads or tails of where we were on the trails. There were signs and arrows pointing every which way. Once I got more used to the trails it made a lot more since. I think if they were to rethink there trail marking sytem it would be nice. As far as the trails themselves well let me just say that I am considering moving to Union Point and taking a job at a gas station so that we can ride there all the time. The only thing I liked about the trails were the jumps and the berms oh yea and the hills and the turns and the occasional deer running accross your path. All in all it was great. My wife and 2 kids had the time of there lives.

Father in the nameof Jesus Christ our lord I pray that Vickie be healed. I pray lord that your will be done in Vickies life. I know Father that it is the desire of everyone who has written in this forum that Vickie recieve a miracle from you. So I do hope and pray Lord that it be your will that she be healed.

8  General / Open Discussion / Labor Day riding. Where to go? on: July 31, 2006, 07:58:18 PM
I'm planning to  go camping and riding this labor day and I don't know where to go. I think I would like to go to the hills of North Georgia but I'm thinking Durhamtown will be packed. I'm sure there has to be a national forest or park somewhere that is just waiting for me. Any suggestions?

I'm kind of new to ATV riding, the way it is today anyway. I was just wandering if anyone out there could tell me what kind of GPS device is best and where to get it. I would like one that would mount on my 700 Polaris and take a lot of bouncning around. Also I am going riding with a few friends in the Osceola National Forest over near Lake City after church today. Can anyone tell me hows the riding over there?
