it was out of the water on land. my friends was in mud. but the kill switch works cause if i kill it, it won't let me crank it. I'm thinking my timing or my valves. But i never had my valves knock or right now as i crank it I don't hear anything knocking around.

General / Tech Corner / ATV won't start.....Help Me
|

Hey guys maybe someone can give me an idea to whats wrong. I have a bigbear 400 4x4 and 3yrs ago i was pulling a friend out of a mudhole but my bike was idling as i was trying to relocate the rope for a better pull. Well the bike shut off. Since then i haven't been able to start it. 3 yrs later, I've taken it outta storage to work on it. Just the other day i checked for spark......got that, gas......its getting that, carb and tank are cleaned out and fresh gas has been put in. It still won't fire. Every now and then I'll get a backfire or it pops my carb off the boot going to the cylinder. I haven't done a compression check but I have stuck my finger over the spark plug hole and it blows my finger off. I'm clueless to what has happened. Can some help or have any idea to what is wrong. Thanks

well the road to the camping area isn't bad. the main road in is shellrock but cause it gets busy he has you go around his property which is a field. so its pretty much sand but not sugar sand, but is bumpy. opening time on friday i'm unsure of.

i don't know about the ticket but was told to not drive on the island. he left from the boat ramp and made his way to the island. he had appropriate stickers and permission. my friends girlfriend is friends with the owner of the buggy. thats also one of 3 buggies and thats the one he don't care too much for. but ya the salt water will do some damage.

its a 96 and as of now its got a lift kit, lift springs and the clutch kit. The clutch kit made the biggest difference in take off. Well that and the exhaust. But it spins them pretty good. I do notice in really thick stuff that it tends to need a little more power. Right now the motor is stock but soon to be bored out. I bought it for $600 and have invested maybe another $600 and countless hrs on fabricating stuff. I got the 27 vampires through a tire company having a special on 26's and when he told me he had 27's in the compound sitting for 2yrs i couldn't pass up the $300 deal i got for them.

QT-ya we got the shifter back on the honda nice and tight. Then yesterday i had a problem with my bigbear. Sounded like something freely spinning while i would start it. But both ran and I did what i had to do and got plenty dirty. Next time i'll speak up when i see ya.

I just got home. I'm burnt and exhausted. I had a great time. Sorry everyone i did see faces from the site and didn't introduce myself my fault. But i saw you bart, muddygirl and QT. I hung out with JD trying to find out who came. QT and muddygirl you were there at JDs camp when i was working on my bike. My shifter got stripped out from the shaft so i had to temp. fix it. But next time if i see everyone i'll be sure to say hi.

i'm definetly gonna be out there saturday around 7am 8 the latest. I gotta work until 10:30 friday night so thats a given i won't be there then. ya if the cell doesn't work i'll be sure to find you. both my quads are snorkeled both have exhausts and the 300 has a radio which will be cranked up. i'll more then likely be raising the flag on the 300 so look for the rebel flag.

well you can't get lost and you won't miss us i guess. When you come off 70 onto the property you take a shell rock road past the ditch and then across another ditch. When JD and myself were there 2weeks ago they said thats where camping would be. I'm assuming since the gates are only open from 4-7 on friday which the local radio station down here isn't even mentioning the gates being open friday i think it might not be so crowded. Especially since rhinotime and myself are getting there around the same time so we can kinda make an area for camp. It will be hard without a sign to coordinate with everyone but we will make it work. Again i'll be in my silver explorer sport trac i have a friend with a silver dodge ram and hes got a green trailer. Then we have rhino time with a white tahoe pulling a rhino. I'm thinking there won't be many rhinos out there but who knows. We got 2 more days to discuss this. I know JD is setting up a arctic cat booth but he might be on the camper side. Which i don't know as of yet is at. But i'll be on the tent side with running ac in my tent believe it or not and i have a 6 person tent and theres 3 of us in it so if anyone needs somewhere to crash your more then welcome.
Sorry for the long post. C-ya there

ya i don't think i'm gonna make it out friday night. I have to work late plus we can't ride quads that night anyways. I'll just leave at 5am saturday morning so when i get there at 7am and wake everyone up i won't be sorry we should exchange numbers so we can make a huge camp.
