Three no and no yes.  I appreciate your advice and counsel and will follow same.

If anyone ever organizes a group trip out there to camp let me know and I will add my TH to the circle (schedule permitting of course).

Thank you for your replies.

Has anyone camped out by Holeylands lately?

I'd like to take the kids out there to camp in our toyhauler but I was wondering if it is safe and appropriate for families with pre-teens to camp there.

I know folks used to camp out by that big pumphouse out west but I haven't been out that way lately because the last time out the new truck got sprayed with gravel by some yahoos in the eastern parking lot.  Duhhh.

Any info on camping out that way would be much appreciated.

Thanks

How did Bigeasy's rant  (understandable) about lack of places to ride ended up sending all the lawyers to Iraq?

I submit to you the reason there are fewer and fewer places to ride has nothing to do with rich people, lawyers, Bush, or OJ but has everything to do with a small percentage of ATVers spoiling it for everyone else.
It was pathetic how much garbage I saw last time out at Rottenberger/ Holeylands and it was everywhere you see ATV tracks.

Same thing at River Ranch, a few bikers made it so bad now nobody can ride dirt bikes at RR.

I see this stuff go on every time I ride.  I see ATVers argue with the FWC guys who try to nicely explain don't burn anything you want but don't burn pallets because the nails left over give everyone flats.

Its a minority but we all pay for it and when there is absolutely no place left to ride I can tell you exactly who to blame...those few among us who do this stuff.

Before you get rid of all the lawyers keep in mind there is a direct correlation between the number of lawyers in a society and the number of personal freedoms people enjoy.   Libya, Iraq, Korea, Sudan, China....no lawyers/no freedoms.  If the leaders want your house, your wife or anything else they just take it.  If you protest you get a bullet in the head.  America, England, Germany etc., lots of lawyers and the most freedom of any other countries in the world.

Also keep in mind these stupid verdicts come from the juries which consist of people off the street, it is not the lawyers or judges that are giving some of these stupid numbers.

Lastly remember many of those storis are anecdotes, they are not the norm but are stories blown out of proportion by the media.

Now, the media, that's another story.

With all due respect if it is a question of who was there first then River Ranch belongs to the Seminole Indians and they have preference over both ATVers and hunters.  Or you can also say RR belongs to the folks who originally purchased lots from GAC because they also predate hunters and atvers.

If someone wants to purchase a parcel of land @ RR to sit in a lawn chair naked, drink iced tea,  and listen to the birds he/she  would have as much say and as much right as anyone else.  All that land is privately owned and you can't tell people what they can or cannot do with their land.  This is America folks.  Times change and people need to expect change, go along with it,respect each other's views and each other's rights, and coexist.

What's kind of funny is many Floridians consider us atvers and hunters all just a bunch of crazy rednecks running around the woods splashing through mudholes in camo utfits so we may have more in common than we know.  (Except for maybe the naked guy in the lawn chair)

FWIW: RRPOA is retaining a "conservation easement" on the properties being sold.  That may have a marked effect on the value of the plots in the future.
