My thoughts and prayers goes out to the family and friends of this young rider. If there is anything either I or my fellow riders at ATVMIAXTREME can do please feel free to let us know. One more reason for us to fight for a legal and safe riding area. So our children do not continue to get hurt. Again, I am extremely sorry for your loss. Cary aka Miamigirlrider

It was great meeting you guys and meeting Trish and her family. Sorry we left so early but we had a long ride ahead of us and it was super cold the night before, we didn't expect it would get that cold.
Hopefully you guys will come down to our neck of the woods next time so we can ride together.
It was great.

I say you all attend the meeting Feb. 27 and have a huge peaceful protest but first advise your Commissioners of this. For those of you saying they don't owe us anything INCORRECT! If you purchase something legally and paid taxes on it and titling fee which portion of it goes to the OHV for the T.S. Law then they must provide a safe and legal area to practive and use what you purchased. Its lilke saying buy a car or boat but you can't use it unless you buy a piece of ocean or road. BULL.
You want the complaints to stop officer then open up a park so parents can take there kids. You want the injury stats to go down then open a park up so teens aren't left to run up and down a street where they can get killed. You want crime states to go down involving thefts of ohv, generators, etc, then open a park up so kids are busy and not out there bored out of there brains causing rukus. And finally you want the farm complaints to go down OPEN A PARK UP so people that are unresponsible and idiots stay of the crop and ride at the park WHERE YOU CAN ENFORCE SAFE RIDING EASIER.
Its easy to ban the use of something when you are getting rich of the sale of the same item. If it wasn't for this death we are dealing with I would be out there doing a campaign against this opt out.

The details are not clear as of yet but it seems he was just doing an ENDO when the bike flipped on him and he landed with his head hitting the sidewalk curb. It did not involve speed or racing it was a mere atv accident. This is all I have heard thru friends of the father. Sad thing is the father is always preaching safety and you never catch him without boots or chest protector, helmet. Seems it was the mothers weekend and the accident happen. The students at Braddock are really hurt by this loss. He seems to have been a great friend to many there. This can happen to any of us and any of our children. Just proves kids are kids. Trust me I have 2 of them his age. Again my condolenses to this family.

I am unsure if he had one or not but yessssssssssssssssssssss its important. But the important thing is that we are fellow riders pray for this childs fast recovery.

Do you know they have a track with jumps here in Miami for those type of cars? Maybe this Sunday I will take my son.
Everyone I will post the pics that I fowarded to the Miami Herald tonight. I have really good trash pics. Just check back late tonight.
Thanks to everyone that came out. You guys were awesome. It was great meeting all the new people. It was really a great group to do a future group ride..... Lets do it.

Everyone is intitled to there opinion but as long as I have breath in me I will continue to fight for a legal and safe riding area.
Selling your quads and giving up to them is not the answer. They have outlawed jetskis, gokarts, gopeds, atvs and now paintballing. But regardless sales tax are being collected on the sale of these items.
I have been told several times by several depts. if is wasn't for people like you guys that care and are vocal atv's would be illegal and forgotten like jetskis. If only the jetski community was so passionate about it.
So bottom line is I will not run and hide, or sell and give up. Its legal to buy then make it legal to ride!!!!!!!!
At least that is what I want my kids to learn, don't roll over and cry defeat but fight for what you believe.

Thank you digginfool, your right, if enough people show up we will be done fast.
If your bike is broken its ok folks, still come out and help pick up trash at least for a little bit and then go home.
The Miami Herald will be out there and I have to provide them with pictures for the paper.
You guys really need to participate, what happened to everyone who responded to this thread when it first circulated? REALLY FOLKS, its embarrassing and sad that we are so many in this site and only 3 show up to an OHV meeting.
We need to unite. This is the future of your ONLY LEGAL RIDING AREA LEFT IN MIAMI< DADE AND WPB. Don't take it for granted.
I call for you help fellow riders.

General / Open Discussion / Commissioners must keep there promise
|
on: January 30, 2007, 11:17:40 AM
|
People call the office of Commissioner Joe Martinez 305-552-1155
Drive them crazy for not keeping his promise to this crew.........
Call him and tell him he did us wrong, and that we are upset and just say how you feel.
He promised to go with us and schedule a meeting with the Miccousookee Indians
and
he promised to speak with his friend that owns a old Concrete plant in Krome to see if we can use it temporarily...
WHEN ITS TIME TO VOTE REMEMBER WHO DID NOTHING FOR THERE COMMUNITY including your kids.

What happened to all the hype on this site? Please guys do not sell out, get me as much people out there. Think about it if the turn out is big enough we probably will only end up cleaning for 20 minutes since we are only doing the unpaved parking lots of both sides. I have a reporter from the Miami Herald doing a story with photographer and everything. We need lots of bodies out there plus wear your shirts. FWC gave us there 100 approval for this event per Mr. Collins director of FWC and now no one is going? Seriously I hope you all get your stuff together and round your troops up for a clean up this Saturday 10 to 1pm.... Please respond.

General / ATV Activist / Re: Miami-Dade County Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Feasibility Study
|

We are researching the laws into conducting a PEACEFUL protest in Miami Dade County. Investigations have been done with 311 and other appropiatte agencies to make sure areas in which this event can take place without permits. We have received several inquiries about the media wanting to be there to report the issue at hand. My last step is to contact the police department to make sure we are all in the same page and no problems arise when we congregate in a street corner with POSTER and HORNS. Please keep your ears and eyes open for date and location. I think its time we fight for our rights to ride what we legally purchased and paid taxes on. The teacher protested and got there increase in pay. Cubans do it for a cause and there issues are always addressed. NOW ITS OUR TURN. Lets show Miami Dade County and the ENTIRE state of Florida that we too believe in our rights and that our children deserve a safe and legal riding area. Thank you for showing up last night to the meeting. Its showed that Miami Dade has what it takes when we unite for a cause!
