digginfool,

Well said. Hopefully you did not take my post the wrong way. I am simply stating the fact people are going to get hurt riding that is just the facts. You greratly increase your chance of getting hurt by riding above your skill level and "hot rodding." I do not support either of these activities. You mention Wave Runners, I live on the coast and this activity has been banned as well because of accidents which I am sure include idiots showing off and have no buisness being on the water. There will always be people who try to show off and push the limits, that is part of human nature, but should lawmakers take these activities away because of them. NO. I know everytime I go out on a track or trail I am taking a risk. I wear my safety gear including a chest protector and neck collar, which most choose to go without. I prefer to ride tracks that are mostly table tops to reduce the risk of casing a jump. When on the trails, I study the trail then continue to ride it with more speed but still at a safe level. Even after all this precuation I still have come around a corner too fast washed out and hit a tree, bounced off in the whoops, and even hit a telephone pole once. These were all my mistakes and I assumed the risk of them. Neglegent track owners should be closed down but to go after a facility because accidents have occured is wrong. Without seeing all the facts for each incident I cannot say if DT is 100% not responsible for any off the accidents, but I see this issue as a big picture along with the rulings in Riversaide California. You should be able to responsibly be able to ride on your property. Resonsibly being the key word.

the more private places they close down then riders are forced to ride on government land. and i would bet government lands have seen their share of injuries and deaths...... A kid died at Holeylands a few months back.......
6  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Trying to close down Dur-Town on: April 24, 2006, 01:42:52 PM
If this goes through and they shutdown DT in addition to the closings and new laws in California, OHV riding has death knock at its door. I am not familiar with WAGA Fox 5 , but hopefully they will do an honest expose and not paint the wrong picture.

Just like riding a street bike, or even driving a car for that matter you take a chance every day. When will lawmakers realize this is the land of the FREE and we make our own choices.

I can understand if a ficility is running an unsafe operation i.e rebarb sticking out of the track, a water truck pulls onto the track while riders are out..... it is commen sense and the Government at both the local and natinal level has stepped in to make our decisions for us. Whats next, what we eat...oh wait they are already working on that one.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

8  General / Where to Ride? / Re: mx tracks on: April 21, 2006, 03:26:00 PM
alot of the tracks are sandy but not sugar sand or dune sand.
9  General / Photo Gallery & Videos / Re: My beautiful YFZ motor... on: April 18, 2006, 08:46:50 AM
I have seen this before when the plug comes loose and sucks sand in through the top. Your plug should be another bolt to check before you ride.

Moroso is quite a bit south of Kings Highway. St. Lucie County has discussed putting in a track ou near hte fairgrounds. I saw an article with Dean dyess from Thundercross in FL MX magazine and he mentioned it so I decided to call the farigrounds office and I was told it was an idea but it would be atleast 3 years away. Anyways rumor has it Moroso is close to opening......see ya there. But if someone knows anyihtng about this track in Fort Pierce please share.

12  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Moroso Motorpark MX track on: April 05, 2006, 10:15:53 AM
Do they have an projected opening date? I can only imagine how packed it is going to be at first. From what I have heard it is oging to be agreat track for beginner and novice riders. With it beign the only legitimate track in the area it is going to see alot of traffic. I know Seminole is in the area but no where near as accesible as this track is going to be. Let's hope they have done some homework on maintnance and I am excited someone finally steped up and is providing us a place to ride. I am not a huge fan of tracks only because the ones I have ridden are poorly maintained and full of dangerous doubles and triples. From what I have heard Moroso MX is going to be the spot. And only a half hour away!!!!! Props go out to the Moroso track for all thier hard work so far!
13  General / Where to Ride? / ARRA Meeting Naples Riding Area on: March 31, 2006, 02:51:23 PM
http://www.arra-access.com/arra/PicayuneStateForest.html

ARRA members from Florida have brought to our attention an important access issue dealing with the Picayune State Forest.

OHV users in the area have been excluded from accessing trails in the Picayune State Forest in Collier County because OHV use has been deemed incompatible with the Everglades Restoration Program.  In a meeting open for public comment, the Collier County Commissioners will be reviewing the situation and considering options that might provide OHV access.

This meeting will take place on April 11th at 9:00 a.m. on the 3rd Floor of Building F at 3301 Tamiami Trail East in Naples, Florida.  Please attend this meeting if possible to ensure that the the voice of the OHV community is heard.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please email your concerns to Collier County Commissioner Chairman, Frank Halas, at: FrankHalas@colliergov.net.

17  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Holey Land is the best place since BadLuck now. on: March 17, 2006, 10:31:33 AM
Does anyone ride bikes out there? Are they allowed? I saw a few weeks ago in the paper a young kid was killed out there. He wanted to do one more jump before loading up. The article metioned his "Bike" broke sending him into a tree. I was always under the assumption it was hunting property. Thanks for all the info everyone provides.
18  General / Where to Ride? / L-Cross on: March 14, 2006, 03:22:53 PM
L-Cross seems like one heck of a time I just have a few questions.

1. Are they only open during event weekends? or Are they open every weekend?
2. Are bikes allowed and if so are ther trails or is it all one big mud trail?

Thanks alot.
19  General / Where to Ride? / Re: jupiter farms? on: March 14, 2006, 01:20:54 PM
Thanks. I was just hoping it would be another place to ride. I heard Underhills doesn't allow bikes. Would one with a bike have fun riding out there?
20  General / Where to Ride? / Re: jupiter farms? on: March 14, 2006, 01:11:45 PM
maybe someone could chime in on this.....
21  General / Where to Ride? / Re: tracks on: March 14, 2006, 12:47:27 PM
I live in Jensen also. There is Underhills in Palm City. Search the forum for info. I know of a bike track but Seminole is the closest ATV track I know of. Welcome to the Neighborhood! I also heard they are letting people ride some woods off Indiantown road in Jupiter. Moroso is building a track and should be ready in a few months. now, come pick me up and lets go ride.
