General / Racing Scene / SDTA - ALL Quads banned from Racing in SDTA
|
on: January 21, 2013, 09:55:17 PM
|
FYI: The motorcycle guys have banned all quads from SDTA events permanently. I want to put it out there for those who might make the mistake of driving to an SDTA event like Johnny Vance and I both did this past Saturday.
MCS is supposed to be hosting a quad friendly schedule to be run with the sprint cars like back in the old day with Brady.

Also,
Let's move the starting line back like last time to give the quads time to settle in by the first turn. I agree I like the 2 heats better than 1. Takes the politics of wondering who gets the good position and bad (outside back row) for your one and only qualifyer heat.
I know there have been some complaints by some about how late the racing goes until. Some of these people didn't even show on Saturday, so I don't think we should be catering to them.

Derek, This weekend for sure, need to do some maintenance, especially on Luke's bike. It's a good thing we're all stock in the Open class , or we all might have alot more work to do..... Erik, I REALLY don't want to fan the flame here, but the TT main video looks pretty bad bro. It sure looks like you jumped the start after the guy next to you jumped it first and, deliberate or not, hit Jon so hard coming out of the turn that Jon spun out after his attempted clean pass on the outside. Take it for what it is worth, that's what it looked like. I have known you for over 21 years, I know you love racing and I don't want to see this be something that causes the ATV racing to fizzle out, that's all. The Cabana's are really good people, some of the nicest people you will ever race with. They are dedicated and also competitive, as we ALL are. I really wish that this can blow over and as much as is possible in racing, all get along and be friends.

arn't all Honda's SToCK before you go in search of MO POWER, I would invest some time on the setup, or just get a crew cheif ! and I think you will just be going backwards with the mosquito killing, tire smoker !! ....So is that why Jon runs the Banshee in FT?...lol

We'll be there Saturday with 2 quads (novice, Open-Vet). I sure hope everyone will come out and see these issues all get worked out.
Erik,
Are you going to run both classes? (Vet FT,TT?)

Ward,
This is why we said nothing last year. No one listens anyway. If my memory serves me correctly, it was YOU who made the comment about it being so much harder to ride motorcycles than quads.
Getting charged extra by the SDTA to race in super muddy conditions for absolutely nothing, Is it really any wonder why we stopped coming?
Bill,
I am game for racing FT with the sprints, they lay down a really wide smooth groove in the corners. Can we race TT beforehand?

Well put Eric, Last year we were charged an extra $10 per rider on top of the regular fee to be called an "Open Class." This was supposed to be a money payout or at least trophies, 1 for each three riders. Our last race in Jasper last year on 5/2011, they charged us extra, combined the classes so we had 6 and neither gave a trophy"plate" or a money to 1st and 2nd place. All this while being forced to race in the muddiest main I have ever raced in 21 years. I won 2 races last year, had to pay extra to get the one "plate" and was told I would receive one also for my Thunderbowl win on 3/26/11, but it never happened. The irony is, as Chris said, the SDTA was founded by QUADS, yet once the "motorcycle guys" took over we were brushed aside. There was even a post made by a "motorcycle guy" about how it is so much harder to ride a motorcycle. That's funny because the Open Quad Class turns faster lap times than of any of the motorcycle classes. Is it harder to be slow? I'd be interested in FT/TT with MCS but not SDTA at the moment. I don't have to pay money to be treated like second class. I think the request by the "motorcycle guys" to close OUR message board pretty much reinforces everything we are all saying. They think they are better than us, they think that money and trophies are only for the motorcycle classes. They have completely forgotten WE started it all back in 2006.

Eric,
I haven't seen Randy since he first got me into flat tracking way back in 1997. Be sure to tell him I said hello, and I look forward to seeing him again.

I have a a couple suggestions too. Can we get a little 15 minute intermission to rest up a little before the main and put a light bit of water on the track (not much)? Also, can the quads race TT before the motorcycle SDTA races? The motorcycles really mess up the track in the turns and add braking bumps coming in to the turns too. Thanks Bill!

It was good talking to all the riders on Saturday, but on here I can't figure out who is who from your screen names.
I'm Scott Sheffield (#5), and I'm the guy who didn't have any race pants Saturday.....lol or I would have raced the Open or Vet class. My bike did make the race though, and almost pulled it out in the Open Class......Good riding Derek!
RRBABY, Sandbagger11, What are your names? I'd like to get to know everyone I race with. Some of you(Eric Rice), I raced back in the long since defunct FMC 20 years ago.
Quad32X...where were you on Saturday?

Great this is starting back up at the time I am tring to buy a house and move back to Clermont. I will come play when funds allow me to but it will be a while I promise. I have to get a house because I already have the job starting March 30th. hope everyone has fun and be safe.
Gary, Stop whining and come down the 24th to show us your Championship skills. Its been way too long since we all hung out. That LT450R needs nothing but gas so come on down brother.

Now theres a voice from the past. lol. Whats up white boy ! I think i still have 1 that was on that bike Yeah, You have MINE that I donated to the LT250R when I was racing / testing it back in 2006, before it went back to crooked Thomas. Come to think of it, you have MY pipe too that you borrowed to put on your GASGAS a few YEARS BACK. I'd really like to get all my stuff back now, and No I never found that damn PVL ignition because it went back to crooked Thomas when he got the bike back. But I know you won't because you are a douchbag Steve...

Scott , ask Derek if he can set the GASGAS up to race again. TT and flat track.
I'm sure that would be no problem. You just need a swaybar, hopefully the one off the LT250R Hybrid before Steve sold it. The rest is just adjustments we can dial in at the track. We are setting up Luke for FT, but it would be good for TT too. Hope there is enough to have a Vet class.
