1  General / Open Discussion / Re: YOUR HELP IS DESPERATELY NEEDED TO BRING BACK ATV RIDING AND CAMPING IN NORTH PO on: March 04, 2009, 05:39:20 AM
the ordinance was put in place when the city was trying to sell the lots of over-inflated prices that they had for back taxes..this was in early 06..the lots that didnt want us to ride on, had trespassing affidavids on them and was posted(this is still law)..the realitors was getting pissed that atvs was in the area that they was trying to sell the lots at...allot of the people who owned lots out there rode also... that what they are only good for.. no electricity, no water, no sewer, and the road are in such bad shape that the city wont spend the money to repair them(since nobody lives there).. the first (closest)lot is going to have to spend a min $30,000 just to get electricity to it... even in good times, no one would do it .. i moved to North Port just so i could ride... now there is a ton of empty homes there...it make economic sence to repeal the ordinance.. things are really bad here and letting atvs back here would help the cities economy..please help us and write to our commissioners....thank you
2  General / Open Discussion / Re: kids quad choice??honda vs suzuki on: October 02, 2008, 08:18:56 PM
out of the two, id pick honda.. but there is a better quad thats out there that you can pick up at a pretty decent price..DRR makes i think, the best all-around kids quad

5  General / Open Discussion / Re: Never ever listen to a salesman. on: January 20, 2008, 01:55:25 PM
i agree..that sucks that you was misled.. the shops that look for a quick sale instead of repeat business dont stay around long...this site and also atvriders.com are excellent for advice and what to look for.... plus some of the riding areas are good to see the ones your interested in ,in-action....being mis-led takes alot of the joy out of owning your new atv.. but still get out there and have fun.. at least you know what not to buy now
6  General / Racing Scene / Re: Quadscramble Jan. 12th on: January 20, 2008, 01:16:24 PM

FTR member #...8-57554j and 8-57553j Wink.. there was workers(volunteers) from the local club that i belong to(a big reason to try this race) that was there to help and did help my daughter when she hit a tree and the handlebar hit her hard under the chest protector.. she has a good size bruise and a torn jersey but thanks to the EMS, track workers, and our local doctor, she is fine... i would LOVE to help out.. PM me and ill be more than happy to to provide you with e-mail,cell ph#, and hm# to contact me when to help at the next local race.. i knew there would be a few rocks thrown my way for even making suggestions, but since this was a FTR thread and i was unable to post in the FTR forum, thats why i post my thoughts here... like i said, there was a post on there that said everything was PERFECT.. no..no it wasnt PERFECT(from my observation) and here was my suggestions to make it better.. i hate it when someone complains but have no other, or better ideas.. but if you re-read my post, you will see what i did like and THANKED the hard work that everyone(FTR and local clubs) did.. mudnuri, i liked where the race was held and thank you for your concern for my child, but without ideas and suggestions from participants, things wont get better... im looking forward to wearing an orange vest at the next race...jetski

well my kids ran their first FTR race this past weekend... i like the fact that they have different classes that are more age appropriate and skill level.. there was alot of kids there...i tried to register on ther FTR forum so i could make some suggestions , especially since one of the members on there said the race(peewee)and start went perfect and the track was great.. ok, the start..my daughter(and others) couldnt hear the siren on the bull horn.. might i suggest an air horn from boaters world and a red flag since a couple of the kids jumped the start??.. i liked the tight trails but there was NO place to pass so it was "follow the leader".. im not suggesting a parking lot with cones as someone put it.. but mix it up..and since these kids only have a few inches of clearance, id stay away from the palmettos.. during the race, there was a kid stuck in the palmettos just after the start,(where they all got stuck)and my daughter was behind them.. the track worker was working his aZZ off keeping these kids moving, but a kid that was behind my daughter, yelled "OH WHAT NOW!!" so i know that some of them was getting flustraded.. there is alot of work that goes into these races and id like to see it grow..thats why im making these suggestions... thanks FTR for putting it on

14  General / Open Discussion / Re: Do we still want to fight for "legal" places to ride? on: August 01, 2007, 10:25:31 PM
about 10 or 15 yrs ago , the farmers got tired of the government screwing them over, so thousands of them drove their tractors to D.C. right in front of the white house.... this is what we need to do.. gather up the quads and get a permit to rally in Tally.. drive them right on the streets and show them that we need places to ride
15  General / Open Discussion / Re: graphic kits on: July 01, 2007, 08:55:47 PM

17  General / Open Discussion / Re: A Rally Cross-Post on: May 22, 2007, 10:34:20 PM
dreth ..thank you and everyone else for all the hard work you did to put this on..l-cross didnt have to put this on.. they are sticking there necks out on this too.. im showing up with my family and camping with our friends from north port..ive never been to l-cross or some of the other riding areas because we are at the race track.. you will always have some a$$ that shows up to ruin things but i have the confident in the people that are taking the time to show up for the support of our sport to police ourselfs and to show that we are a group that needs safer places to ride...why would it be wrong to have fun?? isnt it the reason why we ride?? to have fun with friends and family??.. i think its important to show the public and elected officials our sport in a positive light.. but this protest isnt a subject like the war, human rights, free trade..so why not have fun...just my 2cents
18  General / Where to Ride? / Re: ohv meeting in ocala on: January 21, 2007, 10:33:48 PM
By the way that wasn't grizz who got the OHV committee to meet in Ocala. The committee had to met in Ocala to check out how the grant money was being used on the trails. The only thing the ONFA did was bring the food.
i stand corrected..btw..the food was great terry, thank you..this being my first meeting and all, i was impressed with the fact that allot of different agencies and interest was gathered in one area..sure,there is gonna be conflict but at least there is hope.. i took the time off work to go to this and was glad i did..i got to see first hand the U of Florida study on how much croom rakes in for the local economy in the 4 counties thats around it(21 million and 318 jobs last year) not including what they take at the gate .. and all the hard work that is starting to pay off for the riders in Miami..Lisa and Joan(stewards) it was nice to meet you both..
19  General / Where to Ride? / ohv meeting in ocala on: January 20, 2007, 10:37:57 PM

21  General / Racing Scene / Re: Sunshine MX......Indoor Track!!! on: December 17, 2006, 07:38:46 PM
only pit bikes and mini 50's will be running on the new track so far..they did a great job..better than i thought it would be but anything bigger than a mini would be hitting the rafters of the roof
22  General / Photo Gallery & Videos / Re: costco atv? on: December 09, 2006, 10:37:55 AM
they are on e-bay under BAM-X... this seems to happen to xtream alot.. they came out with the pro shark (damn good quad btw)and was supposed to be exclusive then they started showing up under different names like thumpstar..i dont think i would buy from costco and especially e-bay for the simple fact is who is gonna fix it when it breaks under warranty??.. thats if it has one...just my .02 and i could be wrong..
23  General / Racing Scene / Re: Sunshine MX......Indoor Track!!! on: December 07, 2006, 10:16:27 PM

go to the OHV commitee meeting in ocala the 18th of jan. and show support and ideas to the state officials..  got my time off of work for this.. i live in north port and the reason i moved here is TO RIDE!! i tried riding in NP and rotunda and got run off in both places also.. my kids race in st. pete and since its not a points race i thought i would save some money and practice close to home
