That is fantastic news!
2  General / Open Discussion / Re: accident at Croom today on: May 07, 2006, 01:44:44 PM
Do you know what caused the accident? We were there that day, (in the picnic area), and we called Emergency services when someone raced up saying there was an accident, but we never saw anything, and didn't hear what actually happened to cause the accident?
3  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New place to stay at Croom on: May 05, 2006, 06:03:04 PM
$99 per night, regardless of how many people, and if you are 18 that is ok with me.
Thanks,
Lee

Does anyone know if you want to do the fun run on Saturday do you need to sign up in the morning?
My son has a baseball game so we wouldn't be able to get there till early afternoon, but would still like to check it out.
6  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New place to stay at Croom on: May 04, 2006, 01:51:38 PM
Yes to the grill. Unfortunately the rules at this time do not allow you to ride into the Croom on an offroad vehicle from anywhere outside the guard gates, but no worries we are right on the forest only 5 minutes away from the gate.  Also for any of you that would like to horseback ride, let us know in advance and we will try to accomodate with trail riding or lessons.
Thanks,
Lee

If anyone is looking for a place to stay when riding at Croom:

We have a furnished private 2 bedroom/2bath available for rent by the  day/weekend/week. It has a fully equipped kitchen/dining as well as livingroom with 500 channel satellite TV and all movie channels.
It is located on the west side of Croom,(5 minutes from the guard gate), on our property, and is a clean, safe location.
Prices are: $99 per night, and you can check out late on Sundays. Call for weekly prices.

Hey Chillin that is great of you to offer to help out us first timers! Both my kids, and I, want to give it a try on May 6th and 7th.
Glad to know that we can come to you for help and advice.
On the topic of advice ----where are you guys getting your colored number plates from, and do you get a number at the race, or do you have to get it in advance?

Thanks,
Lee
9  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New track in Brooksvilee?! on: April 03, 2006, 05:40:46 PM
Wow that is a lot of dough for that property, especially since he had it listed for $1.4M. Are they buying it for residential development?
10  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New track in Brooksvilee?! on: April 03, 2006, 03:05:00 PM
It is an old sand pit. It is zoned for mining. I don't think they will allow him to re-zone for residential development without a massive reclamation first-- and even then, probably not ,due to the pit's close proximity to the florida aquifer. It was put up for sale awhile back, but the price was really high.
11  General / Where to Ride? / Re: New track in Brooksvilee?! on: April 02, 2006, 11:00:15 AM
Don't think that is going to happen at all, ever. Lost in court, twice.

13  General / Racing Scene / Anyone going to GNCC Nationals N.C and S.C.? on: March 23, 2006, 07:04:42 PM
Hey is anyone racing or following the GNCC Nationals? I am possibly interested in buying a mini quad but would need to have it hauled back to Florida from any of the GNCC races?
If you know of any one please let me know.
Thanks,
Lee

Also check the oil level afte you do the oil change...mine took 200ml more than the manual said. No noise yet.
15  General / Open Discussion / Re: racing....which mini quad? on: March 23, 2006, 06:45:08 PM
Yup, I would tend to agree, but the only problem is the Cobra costs $8k and is really setup for MX. My kid wants to race XC and do some MX. I'm not saying it can't be done, because there is 1 kid (Walker Fowler) that is racing XC nationals (GNCC) and winning---but he is a factory supported rider.

Those Cobra's are more than the dang LTR! I'm not that good of a mom!  Wink

By the way that guy we were talking about bought a Honda 250 dirt bike, but his brother hasn't bought anything yet.

Looking at that picture of your pretty LTR bent up like that, made me feel a little queazy............thank goodness you put up that pic of the stabilizer, yeehaw, means mine can't be far behind, finally !!!
Seriously glad you are ok,those trees can be really nasty.
18  General / Open Discussion / Re: racing....which mini quad? on: March 22, 2006, 10:29:10 PM
I like to think so........ but not reading that simple rule book sure is an expensive lesson!
So now I am looking for a (legal) Honda trx90. To top it off after reading the rules my 13 year old daughter can't race her Raptor 350 either! Geez!!!!!!!!!!
19  General / Open Discussion / Re: racing....which mini quad? on: March 21, 2006, 04:08:09 PM
Ok I am thinking about what some folks have suggested:
either the Honda trx90, the Aasco Pro MX, or the new Xtreme Typhoon.
Thoughts anyone?

Thanks,
Lee

Thank you,

21  General / Open Discussion / racing....which mini quad? on: March 19, 2006, 09:50:58 AM

I need some some advice on which quad to get for my son? He would like to start doing some racing (mostly XC and some MX).

He has been riding since he was 6 (Suzuki LT-80), but never raced. He is 9 years old now and about 5'. Unfortunately, I did not read the racing rules before I sold his LT-80, and bought him a Honda TRX250EX for Xmas.
Now that I have read the rules, I see that he cannot race the TRX250EX in XC or MX. He was way big (tall and skinny) on the LT-80, so the Honda 250 seemed perfect. He handles it really well out on the trails, but due to his age it is off limits for racing.

So this time I would like to ask for some advice before I make another dumb mom mistake.

Thanks in advance,
Lee

You guys are great, thank you for all the advice and suggestions.

We are just about ready to get started on fixing up the cabin, if we could just find a good contractor that will do work on island property, we'd be all set. Everything up there moves on island time. It took us over a year to get the dock built, but that was finally finished a few months ago and looks great.

Once the refurb. is underway, I will start looking for a couple of Yamaha's. Thanks again for all the help.

I hear that........ we also fish, so no acting stupid and disrespectful around  fisherman for us, besides out there they would just as likely cut you up and use you for bait, if you acted like a bonehead!
24  General / Open Discussion / Re: Advice about jetski's on: March 16, 2006, 11:05:26 AM
Thanks the kids will take the course this spring.

The river is definitely regulated, but we are off the river on Shivers Bay, on an island. It is a wildlife conservation area so there is no building allowed (only grandfathered if the house was already there). There is not much boat traffic out there, so it stays natural and beautiful, plus it is only 10 minutes to the Gulf.

Hey we have a few of those  Wink

sell them and buy a quad Wink
25  General / Open Discussion / Re: Advice about jetski's on: March 16, 2006, 06:08:09 AM
Thanks. The youngest (9 years old) will ride with me. My daughter is going to be 14 so she will be allowed to ride solo, but I will be supervising.
I haven't ridden one in years and don't remember what it was?

I was thinking about buying them used, so any suggestions about brands or years that were better than others, or ones to stay away from would be great. The cabin is on the river but it is a 10 minute boat ride to get out to the gulf--no surf.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
