For reliability I like the 450r from Honda...Honda is known for it's durability and craftsmanship.

The Yamaha 450 seems to be the favorite of Dirtwheels Magazine who gave it higher reviews then both, but the Yamaha probably has the most mechanical problems. (I mean they made 82 changes in the bike from the '05 to the '06 which should say something right there).

I haven't seen the new Kawasaki 450 yet.

I ride a Honda 450r with upgrades, but I would take any of the 450r's that are on the market now. They all haul azz and are a blast to ride.

IMO Diesel is the best way to go...the inital cost is higher but the price saved in the long run off sets it..

I know of handful of Dales that have been in service since Day 1....never blown and race frequently...

Yah there are a bicycle company and jumped ship and started making dirtbikes and atv's w/ no prior knowledge of it..and I must say they did a pretty fine job..

Hell if they were still around I could just imagine the stuff that would be out..carbon fiber axles,etc

If you go w/ a older diesel cool...but they don't have near the HP/TQ the new Common Rail V8 diesel's do...If you want a older Diesel the best way to go is w/ a 12V Cummins...you can easily get 500K miles outta them...and they can make gobs of power...There's a few making 800+ HP..1500+ Ft Lbs...But granted that requires lots of money..but lil things can be done for extra power..

Also w/ a Diesel the trannies need to be upgraded if you plan to do anything serious
