Orlando Drum and Container
4880 Hoffner Avenue, Orlando Florida 32812

I'm getting 2 FDA approved 55 gallon drums to store water for my fish tanks. They're about $50 each.

I notice your'e in Apopka,,,,you might want to give ATP a call(407-880-3171), they are suppliers of pretty much everyone as far as aftermarket pieces and can get you decent prices,,,,they also might be able to help with a decision.

what kind of protective gear does your son have now? maybe that would be a way to go?

Maybe a new set of plastics?  tons of colors I'm sure are available.

Id@

His ATV is bone stock. We ride mostly on the Ocala trail system.

3  General / Open Discussion / Honda Accessory Advice on: December 08, 2006, 05:36:39 PM
My wife and I are having a hard time coming up with xmas gift ideas for my son so I decided to look at upgrading his 2006 Honda TRX250EX. Trading it in on a faster one really isn't an option as I would take a bath selling it or trading it in. Making it faster probably isn't going to make sense because it would probably cost less to take the hit on the 250 and buy the 300.

One area I am looking at was possibly new wheels and tires. It would change the look of the ATV and I know he would like that a lot.
The stock rear tires are 22x10-9 and the front is 22x7-10. If I was going to change the wheels and tires, what size, brand, and model would you recommend?

I was thinking of going with black wheels.

I would also like to hear any suggestions for other accessories as well. I plan on buying him Nerf Bars as well.

Thank you,
Rob

I talked to rangers this week while riding on the north side. He said to keep an eye on the website for "new" trail updates. As they add new trails, they will be posted. I was with a group of 14 ATV's and we had a great time riding. A lot of sections of trails were whooped out, but there were some nice flat straight sections where you could really open it up. We parked off of 97 right where the red, blue, and green (green for motorcycles only) trails come together.

Something to note: They told us that you can only park in the designated parking areas where there is a "P" shown on the map.
Here is a link to the map:

So...new trails are coming, just a matter of when.

It's a company called RentSys, basically renting computer equipment and setting up computers for conventions and such.

It will also require I get a different driver's license to be able to drive the 24' long big box trucks with air brakes.  I've driven those before,,,just didn't know I needed a license  Dunno

When the truck is loaded...make sure there's enough room for the quad.  Cool

Can some one tell a poor Apopka boy where this place is. I live near 429 and 441. thanks

From Apopka / Mount Dora
441 to Claracona Rd (Park Avenue) go right

Take Claracona Rd to Keene Rd. go right

When you get to the Keene Rd Landfill. Start looking for a road on the left called McQueen. Go left.
Take McQueen to the 2nd trail on the left and park. The trail is next to a fence which borders a field.

Take that trail back to the pit.

Only one problem.  People already steal the stickers you have to put on your vehicle license plates.  They will steal these too.  So when they show up w/ a sticker they won't be thoroughly checked.  I use an exacto knife and cut my car sticker so if it's removed it will difficult to put back together.  I don't think the stickers will do any good.  I think the department that is checking for stolen quads will get lax.

I just got my stickers and they have the VIN number, Title number, and Issue date right on the sticker. I'm sure you are right about them not being thoroughly checked, but it looks like they've made it a bit easier to.

I'm wondering where I'm going to put the thing.

I ride a Stock Red and Black '06 TRX450R and my son rides a Stock '06 TRX250EX.

We wear red, white, and black Fox gear with helmets. I wear a solid matte black Shoei helmet with a crome visor.

We had a blast out there Monday afternoon. There weren't too many people and we ended up being the last ones out there. I just let my son lead and I followed him all over the place. My legs are sore as heck.

Sunday I was pretty disappointed at seeing people drag race down McQueen Rd. Especially wearing shorts and being without helmets. That and dumping is gonna get that place shut down. People just don't get it.  Angry

I could just picture them dragging from the fence towards the trail that goes to the pit and a cop coming over the hill.

Hey man let me know when your out there or give me your cell and i'll meet ya up there.

I wish I would have seen your post before we left. We went and had a blast. My brother came up there with his KTM 200. Next weekend or one afternoon this week, we'll be up there with his trials bike.

I'll exchange cell #'s with you and I'll give you shout later this week.

Was out at the pit today WOW, the most people i've ever seen out there it was pretty fun atleast I know my little 400 can keep up with the raptors now  Wink bring it. More to come tommrrow!

I was out there with my kids today. I was the big guy on the TRX450R with the scared little girl on the TRX90. She was freaking out with all of the people riding so we went across the street and rode up and down the fence line.

I never thought I would have a daughter that would name her ATV "Baby Cakes".

I'm going back tomorrow with just me and my 14 year old son.
15  General / Where to Ride? / Re: Ocala or Croom? on: January 01, 2006, 07:58:37 AM
is onf really crowded with hunters?

Yes, there are a lot of hunters. But they know there are going to be a lot of people riding near Big Scrub and there aren't that many around there.

I just wouldn't go too early or too late in the day. Stay towards the middle of the day.

I went out to the end of McQueen Rd. today and looked around. I was in my Jeep so I didn't go much further than the end of the road. To get to the pit, do you go through the opening in the fence that is to the right?

There's a sign there that says "No Motor Vehicles". It was obvious ATV's have been going through there but I was wondering if the pit is back that way...

I don't plan on taking my Jeep back there...I would be on my ATV.
18  General / Open Discussion / Re: Got GPS? on: December 29, 2005, 09:42:47 PM
Garmin rocks .The 76 CS (color) has more memory, but a smaller screen. I have 2, an eTrex Vista for hunting and 4-wheeling, and a 176 C for the boat. The software can get expensive. Get the Topo software, and update it and the OS for the unit frequently.

I bought the 76cs with the National Parks add on maps from Amazon today.

Seemed like a good deal. It was only $10 more than the 60cs which only had 56 mb memory vs. 115 mb the 76cs has.

Thank you to everyone for their input.

20  General / Open Discussion / Re: Newbie Introduction - Need Boots! on: December 29, 2005, 07:38:03 AM
If you want a really wide open area for your daughter, try Rodman Dam, it's a bit further down the road from Scrub(about 30 miles or so) but a HUGE open sandy area.

and welcome.

Id@

I've been up there in my Jeep and you're right, that is a big open area.
I was there over Thanksgiving weekend. We camped at Salt Springs and my buddy wanted to take his H2 out so he followed me up that way. As I recall, there were a ton of ATV's there that day. Someone may remember seeing me.

Thanks,

Do you use GPS to find your way around on the trails?

Which brand / model do you use?

23  General / Open Discussion / Re: Newbie Introduction - Need Boots! on: December 28, 2005, 05:01:25 PM
Where are you planning on riding at?

I would suggest the Fox's ........however you have already tried them on.

You might want to try a military surplus store to see if they have parachute/military jump boots.  Those particular boots are built in much the same manner as riding boots.  Though they may not be as cool looking as Fox's they do the trick and they may be available in other width's.

Good luck

We went to the Big Scrub area Monday. My daughter isn't real comfortable with shifting yet so I wanted a nice wide open area for her to ride in circles. We will try Croom soon I'm sure. We don't have any "secret" places to ride, just the public areas like everyone else.

Yes I did try the Fox's but I haven't tried the Forma Pro's yet. I'm going to try and find some locally and see if those will work.

24  General / Open Discussion / Newbie Introduction - Need Boots! on: December 28, 2005, 04:24:33 PM
Hi there...I'm new to the ATV scene and I wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Rob and I have a 9 year old daughter and a 14 year old son. Santa  Wink brought us a family of Honda's including a '06 TRX450ER, '06 TRX250EX, and a '06 TRX90EX. None of us have ever owned ATV's but we have been riding with some friends. We fell in love with it and felt it would be a great thing to do as a family. My wife plans on doing some riding as well, but will probably switch off with our son for now.

We invested in quite a bit of gear including jersey's, pants, boots, helmets, goggles, gloves, and roost protectors. However, I'm having trouble finding a pair of boots that will fit me comfortably. I typically wear a 10.5 wide boot / shoe and I haven't found any boots that have wide sizes. Does anyone know of a boot that runs wide?

The place I bought the ATV's didnt' have much in stock but I tried on an 11 FOX Tracker that was too narrow and I tried on a Sidi 11.5 that was just too long. I also tried on an Alpinestars Tech 10 , size 10 and I couldn't even get my foot in the boot. I also tried to put a Fly Talon 11 on and couldn't get my foot in the boot either.

I'd like to stay in the $100 - $200 range.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Rob
